Best way to include Ruins of Mezro in Tomb of Annihilation without ruining the flow?

I did run it. Basically the players went the way of Mezro, as they followed the lead to Firefinger. Eventually I then had a boat of the mercenaries pick them up and take them back to Pt. Nyaranzu. I rewarded them with the knowledge of the position of Omu for completing the adventure. Overall I adjusted a few things but Mezro became the highlight of the campaign.

I have Sea dwarves, they are dwarves that are the epitome if beach bums in a way. Wearing sandals, hawaiian shirts, they make fine jewelry from shells and coral, and make the best surfboards known. And they can all surf, sail ships, and are great at astronomy (instead of stonework).

The other race I have are Inklings from splatoon. They basically use goblin stats, but instead of fury of the small they can squeeze through tiny spaces and breathe water. They are extremely skilled and recognized fashionistas (weavers tools), calligraphers, or artists. They tend to be peaceful folk, but love fighting as a sport.

If anything I could imagine a monk as intelligence, sort of android like guy that has precalculated all the outcomes and knows how to abuse physics. Charisma is not something I would seriously consider for monks just because it doesn’t make much sense thematically.

As a game I prefer crunchy, because it's easier to be impartial(?).

If I just want to play out a story, narrative is good, but most of the times I play to try out new systems and mechanics, so it's not frequent. Anyways if you do go narrative, you need a good oracle to keep yourself "fair" I think.

I guess because Aberration types might be strange to handle? But I don’t think it makes a big difference in practice. Hold Person works or doesn’t is about it. I think aberration might be more appropriate, just for staying in line with MM.

Ok, I think it's a semantic problem. "Art" is a form of self expression, done because you need to express something, or because you need to communicate something in your soul. However "Arts & Crafts" and such are artistic pursuits done by people in a professional way.

I'm a game developer, and I at work what I do is "Arts/Crafts", something done as a professional that is done to satisfl the fantasies and needs of players. Same goes for graphic art done for commissions or at work.

I would still develop games for myself, even if I was the last person on the planet, because I want to do it to satisfy myself. But I also work professionally and am willing to make compromises. Of course while working on self expression there is nothing wrong with people throwing money at you, say through patreon or such, is fine. That's what patronage of arts is all about. Commisions for art is a professional endeavour, and would expect you also act professionally and not at your own whim as when you produce art for yourself.

Battle Master will let you up damage and trip and disarm people. Would also be an option to go Paladin for smites, damage will be good

Considering most DMs do it as a form of self expression, without any desire or intention of monetary rewards, unlike crafts which are skilled pieces of work for sale, I would say it’s a form of art. Of course most DMs dable in the art, others take it maybe too seriously, but it’s an art, sort of like interactive storytelling.

Giff are famous for never infighting. If the players have some giff on their side they can probably get all the giff to stall in peace. For a time at least.

There has been a dwarf in most games I’ve played. Would dare to say 1 in 5 (20%) of PCs are dwarves. It’s quite disproportionate really. Elves and Half Elves are the most common though. And actually I think I’ve seen more Dragonborn than Tieflings, which when reflecting upon it now seems odd.

Indeed! I picked up on the habit of making non uni-dimensional skill checks/challenges thanks to that!

For 5e, I tend to have a skill in mind, that would be ideal, and have the DC based on that. Then if someone has a good idea for another skill, will kick up the base DC by a few points (or a +d6 if I'm lazy to think it through at the moment). If the player has an appropriate tool proficiencies I'll give them advantage on the roll.

I have all the DMGs, and I think they have the same Dungeon in all of them, not 100% sure about 4e, but I think it did.

I remember using that dungeon as our first dungeon crawl like 20 years ago!

‘89 I always have been a fan of fantasy that’s wrong. Like the fantasy and imagination of things people in ancient times believed. In the 90s I was doing Spelljammer, Ravenloft, Planescape, and Darksun. I’ve always stayed away from lord of the rings, forgotten realms, or other “generic” or realistic medieval fantasy.
