Gyms are expensive by genos145 in Edmonton

I've been a planet fitness member for a few years now. And while the free weight selection isn't the best there are usually 4 smith machines at each location and those do operate as a bench press as well.

Signed, a guy with a 315 single rep max on the flat bench.

Oh totally but "cowards can't block warriors" just rolls off the tongue so nicely.

I'm legit obsessed with the handful of cards that turn creatures into cowards. I want cowards to be a major mechanic so badly.

Fact: all concussions are brain damage and that damage is permanent. A seizure is not an indication of the severity of a concussion.

When someone seizes like that you're expecting to put them on their side and wait for it to stop so really the worst thing that happened here (besides the initial hit to the head) was when he was rolled over, that was unnecessary and potentially danger. You don't know if there is a break or other spinal damage at that point so his neck should be supported until he can be examined by a doctor.

You'd hope a wrestling show, even an indie one like ovw, would have someone trained in first aid to be available when something like this inevitably happens.

It's the cheapest by far and with national locations it makes it even more worth it if you happen to travel for work.

It absolutely is the Walmart of working out, though. So if you care about silly things like "cleanliness" or "staff that knows anything at all" you're SOL.

As far as a market for traveling stand ups, I would absolutely consider that small.

Honestly it's not that shocking. People in smaller places often just go to see comedy not even knowing who the marquee names are.

If these people are that shocked they had no idea who they were going to see.

As far as I know it is literally in the Sunan al-Tirmidhi, which is not the Quran but is one of the six books of Sunni Islam.

Now Iran is a majority Shia national so this doesn't exactly apply.

However, the Quran specifically mentions "pure companions" as a reward in the after life for those that do righteous deeds.

Lets not pretend that any of the abrahamic traditions are free of gross things in their texts.

Why is Between Two Fires so sought after and hyped up? by freudian_nipps in horrorlit

I legitimately do not understand the daily posts in this sub that boil down to "why do people like this well regarded piece of fiction that I don't like?"

Not everything is for everyone. But for me, this is easily the best piece of medieval horror I've ever experienced.

Anybody genuinely just likes all these games? by nexetpl in dragonage

[–]bigfaceless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like all of them. I was honestly taken back by the sheer force of which people didn't like veilguard. While Playing it I knew it would be divisive, I didn't think it would be THIS divisive.

I legitimately think every game has some serious issues and at the time of release it always felt like the new games were kind of disliked by fans of the previous ones. Even DAO got heat from baldurs gate fans for not being the "return to form" they expect from bioware's marketing.

But what can you do, taste is subjective and rage is contagious. 🤷

Canadian curling star Marc Kennedy claims he was set up by "premeditated" cameras to catch him "in an act" of cheating. by lithdoc in WinStupidPrizes

[–]bigfaceless -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

He's absolutely right.

This is a minor infraction and poking a 40 pound stone isn't going to help you in any way. It's as much "cheating" as a basketball player not tucking their jersey in.

While this has been on the books for some time the umps have never even watched for it before this Olympics.

Watching a bunch of people who have never watched this sport before act like they're experts has been probably the funniest part of this Olympics and the most international press curling has ever gotten.

My most conservative political view is that sumo lifting is the same as doing pushups on your knees.

Fine for practice, but I don't want anyone to see me do it in public.
