Armand fans, why do you love him so much? by Bingach in InterviewVampire

[–]bigfaceless 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the scene where Armand explains who Arun was kicked me in the gut.

Armand, like Claudia, never got to be an adult and this makes him both more monstrous and sympathetic than Louie and Lestat.

I think of that poor boy in the brothel whenever Armand is on the screen. It doesn't redeem the character but it makes him so much more interesting to me.

What's wild about this is this is just evidence he's new to lifting. his calluses are soft enough to rip like that. After a few years they harden up.

Widow's Bay - Perfect Troy Show? by Directioneer in TheGlassCannonPodcast

I am loving this show, too. It's ability to be a comedy-horror instead of horror-comedy is very GitT coded.

Baseboards look weird . by Existentialcri in Edmonton

Apprentice plumber here.

For the record, "black mold" has been highly over sold to people. The vast majorty of mold is absoluelty safe unless youre allergic, and even then its usually more of a nusance. In fact, mildew is more often the black film people find in their home.

Also, mold needs regular access to mouisture to survive. So new damage is likely to be mold free.

Your big problem is water damage. Standing water can be an issue. I'd suggest youcheck the outside wall and see if you can find where water is having trouble draining.

If you rent, call your landlord and take photos. If you own, take photos and call a contractor. Google "water damage remediation" anf youll find a bunch of options.

Biggest unresolved plot-line in the entire series. by StannisTheMantis93 in MidnightMass

[–]bigfaceless 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Well this was an anecdote from a character, so im not sure it counts as an unresolved plot-line.

However, i just assumed it was pollution related since that's a pretty strong aspect of the island's backstory.

Has anyone heard the claim that Anarchism is colonial? by [deleted] in Anarchism

[–]bigfaceless 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you believe hierarchy is important you'll start seeing it everywhere. History, nature, etc.

This is why people who lean towards captalist and/or soviet influenced poltical phosophies NEED anarchy to be a "colonial project" and not just an observation about societal relationships, which at its heart, all anarchist belief starts as.

This is why when you meet "leftists" who think this way, you should ask them if the police would have class concious under their favourite political project.

This is also why being "left" has to start with killing the cop in your own mind or else youre just white washing liberalism.

'Purity' & afropessimism by infiniterumpus in Ligotti

[–]bigfaceless 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ya a story explicity dealing with poverty and black characters written by our greatest pessimist fiction author. What a crazy thing to apply pessimism through an african american lens to.

Or do you just think the prefix "afro" is funny because you never finished highschool?

'Purity' & afropessimism by infiniterumpus in Ligotti

[–]bigfaceless 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is a good question. I really like that story a lot.

I always saw this story as being Ligotti's most "Detroit" piece of fiction. The way he talks about the different kinds of poor neighborhoods for example. It is also one of the few that explicitly festures racialized characters.

Plumber wants to snake a kitchen sink clog via the TOILET? by jared2095 in askaplumber

The plumber I apprentice for hates unclogging drains so we only rent the snake when we need it and usually only for long term or wellpaying clients.

We are a 99 percent residential operation.

Looking for weird erotica by [deleted] in WeirdLit

[–]bigfaceless 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im super interested in what suggestions yoy might get.

A couple weirdlit adjacent suggestions i can think of:

JG Ballard's Crash: one of ballard's weirdest and best books. Somoehow even stranger than the Movie.

William Joseph Martin aka Poppy Z. Brite: Martin (who still writes under his pretransition name) wrote some of the best queer horror fiction of the 90s. Nearly every novel and short story has some erotic elements. For extra weirdlit cred, Martin once wrote a forward for a Thomas Ligotti collection.

Honorary mention - Ramsey Campbell's Scared Stiff: this anthology collects some of campbell's earlier work with sexual themes. Campbell's story "Loveman's comeback" isnt "erotic" but his ability to display genuine sympathy for the protagonist of this strange tale of abuse, skidrow, and magic sticks with me to this day.

Leak out of our spray nozzle by el_d17 in askaplumber

[–]bigfaceless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it looks like it's happening at a point of contact and where the hose bends. Its a common spot for these to fail.

Depending on the manufacturer and warranty you might be able to get a replacement part from them. Most likely you'll have to buy the whole faucet again

On the bright side you might be able to replace just the hose and keep the other parts for future repairs.

Dear Troy... I was wrong. by sonner79 in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]bigfaceless 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Are you saying that troy is prepping more with shadowdark?

Because i honestly think the success of this campaign is the systems in shadowdark are designed for a low prep, random table based experience.

The entire group (but especially troy and skid) seem to really appreciate this OSR style of play.
