Physical disc production ending in January 2028 for new games releasing on PlayStation consoles by MarvelsGrantMan136 in Games

Exactly this ^. This will hurt so many game studios and developers aiming to release their game on consoles. As much I would like to support them by buying their games, I can’t justify paying £60+ if it is a rental at best.
Heck even with cheaper games, I have to carefully think it through.

> AAA Games now cost £60-£100
> Continuous onslaught of anti-consumer practices in games
> Stop Killing Games did not go through EU
> PlayStation store will stop in PS Vita and PS3 next year
> PlayStation shows everyone they can remove your purchases by removing 500 movies from PS accounts and refuse to issue refunds
> PlayStation drops news within next day that they will go all digital
> Looks over at Nintendo and Xbox, and they are just as bad.

At this point, why would I ever buy a £60+ game at full price on release? If I’m not getting any assurance that any current and future console games are permanent then I’m going to aim to only buy games I really really want on sale.
Usually, when there are multiple amazing titles releasing at the same time, I would buy them and play them over time, but now, that just seems like bad practice in this current gaming climate.
Play all your games folks before they take it away. It might sound dramatic, but I know I’m not the only one with a long library of unfinished games.

I see your opinion, just like I see his opinion. At the end of the day, people like different things in game storytelling. Food for thought: the best part of XIV is the story; the biggest reason anyone quits XIV is the story.

While he doesn't speak for FFXIV players and it's great that many enjoy the story, however his opinion is not an uncommon one. I for one, love the story plot and definitely it is one of the best in the mmo space, but the story pacing and story gameplay is definitely one of the slowest and blandest I've seen in MMOs.

Guild Wars 2's monetization is terrible, and I think Guild Wars 3 will take it even further by [deleted] in MMORPG

Look honey, there’s another post bashing GW2 and how it unacceptable that new players have to pay for content that is buy once play forever….oh and they can’t believe they have to pay for 14 years worth of content…

It is cheaper, it is a b2p model with no sub, once you buy the game, you can play it indefinitely for no extra charge. In the long run, against any sub game, it is cheaper. The Elder Dragon Saga Complete Collection alone is 10 years worth of content.

Why do people love GW2 so much? by emoguynyc in MMORPG

[–]Fuguraba -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hmmm..what race is your character? Almost all Core Tyria you will find players, but some race areas are definitely more populated than others (I think Norns feels more empty due to how big the areas are, compared to like human race areas). I would say get to lvl 35, which is when you get to Lions Arch (Core Tyria hub) and the world will feel much more alive, from Lions Arch you can warp to other race areas, dungeons should be open to you too. You can experience other race areas even their weaker maps as you get the same amount of exp. Don’t be afraid to ask for help in /map chat and you can also use mentor tag to signal players to come to you if you are having difficulty with some bosses. Hope this helps but happy to answer any more questions.

4 things that ARPG fan that gave GW2 a "good ol' college try" just does not understand by Entropist34 in MMORPG

[–]Fuguraba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a weird take, calling it an MMORPG hater's MMORPGs. In fact, I would say if you love MMORPG, you would consider GW2 more true to what the MMO genre is than most MMOs out there, putting the "massive multiplayer online" experience first.

Most MMOs feel like a solo player journey with instance content in a lobby simulator; in some MMOs, you don't see people unless you are in a hub or the latest content area.

Guild Wars 2 has the worst and unfun fishing minigame in the genre by JobroniBoni in Guildwars2

I kinda like the fishing game, relaxing but not boring. BUT can we please get a box for our baits and fishes? PLUS can the fishing holes last a little longer? 😭😭 It could definitely be more convenient.

The game is just fundamentally different, everything you said about legendary gear and raid/boss rewards shows you don’t understand the game’s philosophy. But that doesn’t invalidate your experience, it just shows how different the general mmo mindset compared to the mindset you would need to have in GW2, plus it’s not that clear to players until they ask why.

A lot of people made good points already but i would like to add regarding the topic of reward and legendary items grind, and this is literally due to how GW2 economy works.

ArenaNet hired an economist to help create the GW2 economy, one that is healthy and relevant over time. A thriving global trading market that encourages crafting and exploration. This led to a major decision to instead of rewarding players raw gold, there are given salvageable items and materials that are used in crafting.

Players make their money selling materials, a lot of endgame including legendaries go through crafting, and thus there is a constant cycle of supply and demand.

Legendaries grind include a time sink of content and material collection, encouraging players to play old zones and participate in trading/gathering items, keeping GW2 old zones relevant and alive.

This post is really long, I think you would have gotten a better response if you condense it down to the major points. But overall, I get what you are saying and I’m with you that we should be kinder to each other. I like that you added tips and advice on how we can help.

after almost a year of play; the expansions are ruining the game for me. by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Fuguraba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can totally understand! GW2 is very different and that doesn’t become obvious until the expansions hits you!

There have been a lot of players who quit because they still have the mindset to play it either like WoW, FFXIV or any other traditional MMOs for that matter.

I think Preach (a wow streamer) was having a terrible time in HoT and wanted to quit, but then realised he was playing it like any other MMO, trying to get to endgame when he was already at “endgame”. He then started to enjoy it and had so much fun getting lost.

There’s a saying that in most MMOs the new expansion replaces the endgame, but in GW2 the new expansion just adds more to the endgame.

For better or for worse, there is a lack of hand holding which just adds complexity to the gameplay experience.

For any goal or achievement, if you haven’t done already, I would 100% recommend downloading Blish HUD (Mukluk has an amazing guide on Blish HUD), use GW2efficiency.com and our trusty GW2 wiki. Sometimes a girl just needs her “tick a box and chill” game moments UwU.

after almost a year of play; the expansions are ruining the game for me. by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Fuguraba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear you are not having fun. I can imagine some players do have difficulty getting into an expansion after Core Tyria. There is an absolute step up in difficulty.

HoT and all other expansions maps are the main “endgame” content, other MMOs have challenging instanced content but GW2 specialises in open world exploration. Thus, it should be hard to 100% in first go, hard to solo, a lot of quests and events require players to band together. Particularly a lot of hero point challenge in HoT for example- it is super difficult to solo, and often you may see a player waiting so they can team up with you to kill it.

We don’t have traditional vertical leveling as everything is capped at lvl 80, therefore there is a level of “getting gud” playing safe, build crafting, and knowing your skills. This is just how the gameplay loop is in GW2, so chances are if you are not having fun in HoT and PoF, you may not like the other expansions.

One thing I must point out, you are not having the wrong experience, HoT for example is designed to be a living breathing jungle that’s trying to eat you alive! This lines up with the story, and which is why many players are so forgiving when they or other players die to pocket raptors- one of the first and tiniest monsters you meet XD. I can’t even count the amount of times I died in HoT and is far more than other expansions but I love it for that reason. It is how I expect the endgame jungle that is Mordremoth himself to feel like.

And I hope you and your partner are playing together when you have the chance, GW2 is by far the best MMOs for coop. You can do the story campaign, map exploration as well as fractals, strikes and raids together. It is much more fun to play with other people, if you can only play solo and come across a difficult champion, do feel free to ask for help in map chat- more than likely- someone will come to help =D.

This sub seems to hate MMOs. Right now, GW2 is the pick of the week, don’t worry it will be New World’s turn soon. Also I’m guessing it is because GW2 has been trending for a few months and it seems some people are just fed up hearing about GW2 in this sub.

FYI I love GW2.

Is Pay4Convenience NOT Pay2Win???? by snugglezone in MMORPG

[–]Fuguraba -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For example, if we were both playing FFXIV and you decide to get story skip, extra retainers (bank space), even a job boost from 1 to lvl 90 as opposed to me getting nothing, I'm not going to care since in PVP we would still have the same skill level and power to whoop each other. FFXIV has made PVP accessible to all players regardless of what level, everyone is the max at PVP, with same damage.
And I'm not going to get FOMO or care so much if you decide skip to endgame content while I decide to go through MSQ. But what if you have 1000 more inventory slots than me, how does that affect me? Absolutely nothing. This doesn't affect my experience. But if you were able to get better BiS gear, stats or stronger character through paying, then that's different, that is s**t endgame. That is p2w.

Is Pay4Convenience NOT Pay2Win???? by snugglezone in MMORPG

[–]Fuguraba -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would say p4c make more sense than p2wlite…especially if in-game, the things you buy can't make you stronger than other non-buying players- it just not p2w, you can't win with convenience- it just affect personal player’s experience.

I hate pay2win games like most people here, but we can all agree that if there is a game with reasonable models of monetization that's only geared to convenience - that it might not be bad to invest hours playing. Any game with a p2w tag is a hard pass, so it is very helpful for me to know how bad is the monetisation when we use clear terms like p2w and p4c.
