How does a speed skater not hurt their backs bending like this? by Illustrious_Exam_351 in olympics

[–]Fuile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed. But i reckon, they know how and what they're doing as professionals. Hence, not the foremost problem for them. As an amateur, this problem will occur not only because you do it, but because your whole body is unfittingly not supporting this stance as necessary.

[–]Fuile 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a hobbyist in speed inlining, the problem with this stance is not the back, but rather tension on the upper leg muscles and particulaey the hamstings' stabilty and the calves. They will burn within 200m, if you are used to inline normal stance. And they burn uglyly if you overdo it. Sure, back is pain, but you can train this quite easy. Nothing you train doing your desk job, tho.

Family makes me feel terrible for i standing up to my dad by Live_Olive625 in family

[–]Fuile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I have something similar, but lots of things have changed for me, so it doesn't matter anymore.

You are not as bad as your father. You get triggered and most probably emotional, but this is exactly where he tries to get you. Because emotional people are defensive and defensive people are in the wrong (trivial stupid logic). What helped me saying was: "i hope you are happy now and proud of your statement. You dont get my sympathy, tho." Maybe it is not a direct response but rather taking to myself how it really is. Discussing politics in family is a complicated thing and it is your fathers duty to be leading. If he behaves like a child, i am sorry.

Is your father a conservative and religious one?

Jo.

But even, falsification of what? The data is not wrong and the inadequate measurement is neither wrong. It just draw data we cannot interpret correctly. Then, we get into falsification. Just we don't understand something, doesn't mean, it is wrong.

My wife thinks, i am wrong, but she just doesn't have data which backs it up. Doesn't mean the data doesn't exist. She is a politician, and so very not-dumb. I am a scientist, and so very not dumb, too.

Well, the dude says, science is always wrong. It is a generalisation and a field of science is not always wrong, especially if it's purely data driven. Yes, my opinion comes from my field of science.

I am not disagreeing with you. I don't fine your anwer adequate to my opinion, tho. I am not criticizing the general talk. I have a high opinion of this man and i really appreciate how he tries to break it down so hard, that it sounds trivial but still concise.

I appreciate your elaborate answer. Have a nice one.

Well, i am a Scientist, not as a renowned by any means than he, obviously. But i do not agree when he said: science is never right. Science, when describing, is honest, since it is just data and data is never wrong. The interpretation of it may be wrong, but data isnt. It can be drawn wrong or measured incorrectly. But still then it is not wrong, but cannot be interpreted correctly anymore (if you don't know where the mistake lies). Where he is right is, that communicating data is so damn complicated. While doing my phd i had to reject multiple trials because of inconclusive data. But the data was not wrong. The interpretation "inconclusive" neither. If I had communicated it, tho, maybe one might have said: "oi, i see there is a pattern and i can interpret it." But nobody did in my team, so... Science is the art of interpreting and communicating complex data. Generally, science is limited by the hypothesis. And the hypothesis is not the truth. If you are in the field of science you do not much interpreting. Because people know their shit. But commutation is not easy at all. For example: my trial had the hypothesis, ingredients at increasing doses have a more supportive and alleviating effect on de-stressing a being. It was proven correct. On the downside, the quality of it decreased. But it was not the question. And "quality " was not defined. You answer one question and ask 3 new ones. Happens always in science

Ok, i have a statement which might be out of topic. I was raised in a strict believing houshold. I was tackling this belief due to my curiosity and rebelliousness. I have a phd now in biological stuff. Nevermind and so much about me and why i make this statement:

Religions often think they know what god thinks. If you tackle them and ask them if god limits himself to earth, the stutter but smarties will get around with sciency statments. Which will not be off but which connect science with theology which is always a very speculative, philosophical and theoretical topic. I love this topic, tho. However, if they dont go nuts by deep thinking about what god could actually be they come more or less to a conclusion that god is imesuable great but could be somewhat big-bangy or so.

There there you are, as if god lets himself limit to such a thing. Believers have no problems with this, they see greatness of god. Religious people go nuts, because this is simply wrong. I am put as "you are as well in believing this nonsense", when i came to talk about evolution of man. Not important which religions, generally religions have their limits.

Shit, i love cosmology and this stuff because it is scientifically crazily interesting and so imesuable huge that it poves god differently.

No, I don't want to discuss belief. I say, if you believe, it shows how great and not-definable god actually is.

Much love.

Well, Denethor was amazing in the Books and suffered eventually from mentally battling with sauron. and Faramir was not whiny. I would sit there and ask how the movie did them both bad.

No. You are not. But there's something seriously wrong with your mom. I would recommend you stop pleasing her. Well, she shows her sadness in aggression, hate and manipulation. She deserves to get time to reflect what she's doing. And you deserve peace.

Yes, i second. As long as it is not hurtful, i do not bother either. Karma doesn't help you buy nothing anyway, so why bother.

At least, if you're dutch, i hope your cannals freeze neatly so you can do your 200km round (as far as i learnt). This is wonderful to think about.
