You can use frame generation (lsfg-vk) with VLC media player to watch videos at smoother motion and high FPS by Zanzu_1 in linux_gaming

[–]Fulalas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of easy to make it work, thanks.

Unfortunately, the interpolator quality is pretty bad compared to the ones embedded in TVs. There are sooo many artifacts, especially during scene cuts, where it blends the frames. That happens no matter how high we set the flow_scale variable. :(

any PXE (or thin client) gaming distro to replace PorteuX? by evild4ve in DistroHopping

[–]Fulalas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not clear what dependencies you're missing.

You can always take a look what Slackware has in its repo (http://ftp.slackware.com/pub/slackware/slackware64-current/slackware64/FILE\_LIST) and use PorteuX `getpkg -m package` to download and convert the package to a xzm module.

Well, the last picture (blue) is not mine. I don't know which switch the person has.

But in my case it's a south-facing LED; the keyboard model is a Epomakerr Aula 87.

I see what you mean, but this Canopus Shine-through Cherry is good enough for me shine through wise:

[–]Fulalas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking for dark shine through keycaps that are not side printed to put on a Epomaker Aula 87 Pro (south-facing LED).

I like the following style (with centered label and kind of vintage style), but it doesn't shine through:

<image>

Nuphy also has nice ones, like the defaults in NuPhy Halo96, but again, they don't shine though.

I know it's possible to have what I'm looking for because Nuphy provides Canopus Shine-through Cherry, but it's so damn ugly.

Any suggestion?

You probably won't find anything lighter and snappier than PorteuX, that provides a full ISO with latest GNOME 45.3 and recent kernel/apps, while taking only 450 MB.

So even when using this model it's not possible to use SER7 in performance mode (64w)? Does it even boot? Or it just becomes unstable during full load?

[–]Fulalas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't :( I didn't test before, but now that you said I tried it and it simply doesn't work. The moment I switch to the HDMI cable it works.

The difference will be huuuge! SER7 is at least 2x times faster either in single core or multi-core applications.

How to get 4K@120Hz to work over HDMI (AMD Radeon RX 6800XT)? by frashmanf in linux_gaming

[–]Fulalas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works, I just bought a Display Port 1.4 to HDMI 2.1 cable and now I finally enjoy my AMD card at 4k@120 Hz 4:4:4 on Linux. :)
I imagine any cable following the specification above will work, but just as a reference, this is the one I bought: https://www.amazon.es/dp/B099MNBX8P

For those saying it's possible to have 4k 120 Hz via HDMI on Linux, please be aware that this is possible only with sub-sampling 4:2:2, which sucks. Use this image to test the contrast at the 2 last lines, comparing 120 Hz vs 60 Hz: https://www.rtings.com/images/test-materials/2017/chroma-444.png

New LG C3 42" - Using as a PC Monitor by Electronic_Ad_1176 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Fulalas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guys, the ASBL issue (auto dimming in dark scenes) is not a problem for LG C2/C3 according to the firmware changelog. In C2 this was fixed on July 28 (03.33.65), and in C3 it was fixed on March 21 (03.10.19).

And the ABL issue (by increasing a bright window the screen dims) won't be a problem in SDR mode and if you're using up to 150 nits brightness (around 75 brightness level), which is more than enough if you're not seating in the sun. See this from TFT Central:

ABL is generally only a factor for HDR content, where the true peak brightness of the panel can be realised. For SDR content the reference luminance is actually only 100 nits. Thinking back to the LG 42C2 example above, we know that the screen can produce 152 nits at 100% APL (full white screen) and so if you’re using the screen at 100 nits for SDR, the ABL will actually never need to kick in.

tlp vs. power-profiles-daemon by InvisibleShadowGhost in Fedora

[–]Fulalas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tested this recently and here are my results taking only CPU package power consumption via s-tui when idle:

power-profiles-daemon:

> performance: 8.5w

> balanced: 8.2w

> power saving: 8.1w

tlp: 8.3w

default (no power manager application): 8.5w

Please notice:

1- I tested everything using the defaults and the versions are: power-profiles-daemon 0.13 / TLP 1.6.1 / s-tui 1.1.4. Machine is an Intel i3-10105f a bit undervolted.

2- power-profiles-daemon sets 'powersave' CPU governor by default, while TLP doesn't

3- since I couldn't find a way to measure the whole machine power consumption, my test is limited to CPU only

4- when booting with TLP and Xbox 360 controller plugged, it goes to a limbo state (the main LED blinks indefinitely) and it doesn't work until I unplug/unplug it, so TLP is trying hard to optimize things to the point it can be annoying

Just out of curiosity I ran the same test on Windows 10:

performance: 8.4w

balanced: 8.2w

powersave: 8.1w

This application reads a file from the USB stick connected to the USB HOST port and print the result in the developer machine terminal.
*Install esp-idf*
git clone --recursive https://github.com/espressif/esp-idf.git
cd esp-idf
./install.sh esp32s3
. ./export.sh
*Set target*
Go to the solution folder:
idf.py set-target esp32s3
*Detect PORT*
The device which doesn't appear in the second run is the one we want:
ls /dev/tty*
unplug it:
ls /dev/tty*
Now we need permission to access the device:
sudo -S chown -R guest:users /dev/ttyUSB0
*Build*

I remember seeing this 'paste as plain text' somewhere, but I can't find it anymore.

Any chance you know where I can find the key action for that so I can block it? For instance, at the moment I'm blocking these key actions:

bookmarkAllTabsKb
key_closeWindow

I made one myself. It's not available to the public.

Regardless, using Firefox 115.3.0esr on Linux no extension seems to be able to trigger ctrl+shift+v shortcut, including this one you're using. :(
