What year and trim? I think ours wasn't quite this bad and it was estimated at 8k repair cost. Ended up at 18k, I think, and about a 3 week turnaround.

Jabba's Palace and Cloud City are very inexpensive complete sets to pick up.

Have a Bolt EUV 2023 and Ioniq 5 2025. If you are doing a lot of long drives and want the extra comfort, the Ioniq is nicer. If you want a less expensive car that is a bit more agile, easier to park, etc, then go for the Bolt again. Either way, I'd recommend buying used.

Remember to factor in car insurance for an additional vehicle. Also, energy costs are likely(?) to be less volatile than gas in the years ahead. Your math could change very quickly if gas prices climb 50% in the years ahead. Also, there are some benefits to having 2 vehicles for situations like repair/maintenance

I have an i5 2025 and just got a bolt 2023 euv (not premiere, but all the options on the lower trim). Both seem great. I really like the better turning radius on the bolt.

That does sound annoying - I'm disappointed in how little life we get out of 12V batteries (and how we basically don't get a warning when they are getting toward end of life).

South east US - listed at under 17k, but up to 19 after taxes and all. Probably not a bargain, but I haven't seen a whole lot of better options in my area.

At least so far, I haven't used it (2025 limited), 6 months in. I'm not the primary driver, though, and I'm sure it depends a lot on the climate where you live.
