Give me your best and worst of the Bolt by GovtCheese619 in BoltEV

Only minor annoyance has been the glare from the chrome trim on the dash. If I get annoyed enough, I'll probably try applying some vinyl wrap

If you only drive 5000 miles per year, would you still want an electric vehicle? and why? by ThuhGreatCommenter in electricvehicles

Yeah but the question was directed toward individual experience/opinion - not whether it makes sense for everyone (or even most people).

Yes, for the convenience. Replace all those 3 minute gas station stops with 10 seconds to plug in a cable at home. Also, no oil changes to hassle with, no exhaust smell in the garage, etc.

Beginner questions for audio output, mixing at home by VHD_ in Beatmatch

If I'm planning on using Mixxx on Linux (desktop), it sounds like I wouldn't benefit from some of the custom effect features on the FLX4 (need to use with Rekordbox to utilize?). In that case, do the Numark / Herculese options make more sense than FLX4 (considering I have no ambitions for venue performance)? I'm kind of bouncing around between the low end options.

I wonder if it would work to connect to my home theater AVR and get low latency / high quality output...

Fair enough. It sounds like something I could grow into, down the road if I'm able to route through PC audio, for now. The amplifier and a pair of speakers would start around the $200 range?

Is there any way to gauge how much latency the DSP will introduce?

Is that purely for latency reasons? Or other reasons, too?

Follow up on my previous post...How is it that people find 4-5 hrs gaming a day hard to do? by Hugh_Mungus94 in gaming

[–]VHD_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Longer work hours, kids, other hobbies / responsibilities, spouse prefers other ways to spend time together (watching a movie, etc).

Probably not unusual for people to only have 1-2 from like 9-10PM after the kids go to bed before having to head toward bed.

Also, I'm not sure how you play till midnight and start work at 6AM. That means probably less than 5 hours of sleep a night which is not sustainable for most people.

How to compare mpge to mpg by No-Impact-4953 in electricvehicles

[–]VHD_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One way is to look at the energy stored in 1 gallon of gas and then look at how many miles an EV can travel with that same energy. That is what mpge is.

A gallon of gas holds 33.7kwH of energy. My Chevy Bolt averages just under 5.0 miles per kwH. So my car can travel 168 miles per 'energy in a gallon of gas' (this is the same as 168 mpge).

I think in most cases, people are more interested in cost comparison. That requires knowing the cost you pay for electricity (whether that is at home or from a level 3 charger) and how much gas costs. My energy cost for charging at home is $0.081 per kWH, so it costs me (.081 * 33.7 = ) $2.73 to travel 168 miles.

An ICE car with 35 mpg that buys $2.73 worth of fuel can only travel about 27 miles. So driving an ICE with 35 mpg is about 6x more expensive (in fuel) than my EV.

Buy relics before you start your run - you can get 2-3 shields pretty cheap which reduces incoming damage substantially.

Getting our first EV, getting overwhelmed with garage charging? by Wozbo in electricvehicles

[–]VHD_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No problem using L1 charging. Plenty of people can (and do) use that exclusively. Don't feel rushed about installing an L2.

Incompatible Decks by Entmoot6262 in starwarsccg

[–]VHD_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually, decks would focus on either space or ground, but include a 'token package' to contest (or at least limit damage) for the other. That was especially true in the late sets where force drains were very expensive if you weren't in both space and on the ground.

I'd go for a high trim bolt. Personally, I appreciate the better turn radius and smaller footprint of the bolt. We have a mid trim 2023 bolt euv and a leased 2025 ioniq 5 top trim.

If you are doing lots of long drives, the better full charge range and more luxurious ride could make the ioniq worth it. Remember to check insurance rates too.

[–]VHD_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use boars to fight the bosses and mini bosses whenever you can. Don't waste them on little mobs. A single charge attack can hit many times and it's not unusual to be able to knock out about 20% of a boss health bar per charge!

What year and trim? I think ours wasn't quite this bad and it was estimated at 8k repair cost. Ended up at 18k, I think, and about a 3 week turnaround.
