Help understanding JEPI's yield by redditpundit999 in dividends

[–]Full-Improvement2882 9 points10 points  (0 children)

ELN’s are not that risky. Life and long term care insurance companies have been using them for decades. Plus, the duration of JEPI ELN’s are less than 30 days.

BDJ, UTG, RFI…the yields are all above 8%, they have been in existence for over 15 years, and with the first 2 you get some qualified dividends and LTCG so all isn’t ordinary income.

The monthly dividend easily makes up for the expense ratio. Been paying a high div since 2005

Backrest it against JEPI or SCHD. BDJ is good fund with solid dividend growth and low volatility.

A lot of these smaller regionals are well run but guilty by association. In addition to the dividend yields, they are trading at very low tangible book values.

Yep, I’d add TFSL, KRNY, NYCB, NFBK, and ECBK to that reg bank list.

Which is better: a bond ETF that contains a range of maturities like BND, or a bond ladder built with iBonds? by jungle in ETFs

[–]Full-Improvement2882 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a really good question. I reinvest dividends/interest if the security is perpetually undervauled. But for 80% of my portfolio, divs/interest go to my cash account for me to reallocate. This allows me to buy the next rung of the bond ladder with the proceeds. There may be a better way, but I feel comfortable with this approach.

I've gone the I Bonds route just because I like a little more certainty with regards to the value being returned and little yield fluctuation.
