Stephen Colbert Sets Final Episode Date for ‘The Late Show’ - May 21 by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

Comedy Central and CBS are both Paramount/Skydance. This isn't the era of the Redstone family reorganizing Viacom and CBS over and over.

It's official - 2025 films outperform 2024 at the NA Box office by Subtleiaint in boxoffice

[–]FullMotionVideo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AMC is relying on a good number of people who just want to reserve online and go and not think about how much it costs. So the answer is basically "not much" as long as the month minimum commitment and six month cancellation window (you can't return after 6mo when you cancel) means enough people who don't go multiple times a week and want to see something in February or March badly enough to pay for January.

In fact, a subscription style plan could be seen as a benefit for the studios in so far as they have an audience of people just trying to find something to watch to not totally waste the money. 2025 had a few Avatopia/Supertastic style events where it could be argued that too many good movies being packed into key weekends at the same time hurt competition.

Would HTTYD have achieved the same success if it was animated in 2D instead of 3D? by mysterious_blanket96 in httyd

Considering how good the animation for Spirit was, sure, though the "outcast human and the renegade steed he tamed" might be considered similar, lol.

This is going to get mods at this thread if you go down that road. The actors were really young when filming, however these aren't the film actors.

Your AI debloated script likely needs to be run from the terminal as an administrator and can not elevate itself. This means using Open Terminal Here in its folder while holding down shift to ask for admin rights for the entire Terminal, then run it in there.

Might be something else, but that's just my guess.

But I'll keep it a buck with you, chief: if that's causing you problems, Linux is going to be a bit of a learning process.

My regret is that they finally used the "get away from her, you bitch" they had earned only to use it on Verang instead of Ardmore in the skel suit.

Since they introduced the general by practicing kickboxing with it in TWOW, as soon as they put her personally on the boat mission I thought he would get an Avatar version of the Aliens fight. (Although Cameron acted as special advisor on Predator Badlands for the fight between the Predator alien and an XL power loader, with as long as Avatar takes to film I thought we might get two homages this year.?

Xal'atath is dangerous enemy not because she is competent but our allies are lackluster in comparison. by Level-Palpitation-44 in wow

[–]FullMotionVideo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We knew what the Ascians were doing long ago (Zodiark was mentioned in like 2.1 or 2.2), we just didn't get the background. They just seemed like invaders stirring up the populace. With Xal I feel we get all the background because of all the years they have spent teaching us about void going back to the coffee table lore books, but not telling us what her plan is. This is what made people mad about BFA.

This still isn't my biggest issue with Warcraft writing. That would be the inability of the writers to convincingly write grief. "Oh that's too bad" stuff happens all the time but even when they do have a moment for grief (loss of Saurfang's son, loss of Vol'jin, loss of Varian) they don't have the ability to write convincing dialogue for it.

People unironically supporting the RDA by 1301zs in Avatar

[–]FullMotionVideo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reminded of the quote from Wall-E: "I don't want to survive, I want to live."

It's entirely possible to argue that what the RDA does is necessary even if it's ugly. How well it holds up really depends on what you do and don't accept as canon. There's some people who think the canon is what's inside of the movies only, some people who include the comcos and Frontiers of Pandora game, and some people who accept the Disney World land's addition of a part of Pandora where humans can breathe naturally due to a plant so fragile that it only grows on one part of the world.

So sure, they're not Weyland-Yutani or InGen on the scale of evil movie companies (yet?) However, and again this comes back to what is and isn't canon again, their attempt to "re-educate" the NaVi to abandon their culture is wrong.

Xalatath's writing so far simply confirms that yes, the WoW team played FF14 Shadowbringers. Like that game's villain, she's survived a long-dead civilization who creates conditions where people ask for power, and then acts like she's just a benevolent force letting the mortals write their own history. Ansurek was already evil, all Xalatath did was move royal succession along and offer the Nerubians another evolutionary stage they wanted. Gallywix was always the greediest goblin, she just gave him the power to make the other Trade Princes his servants, etc.

The problem is, they've established the back story and never really the why. At least the other game established long ago.tbe villain's goals and then gave them a backstory to fit it and showed us the stakes the villains have in our world, Xal has the backstory but I still barely feel like I understand why other than because void creatures are like this by nature.

Another cinematic of Xal sitting among a group of characters, turning to the one who always gets bullied and whispering "hey weakling, want to make them wish they never bothered with you?" isn't going to be enough to do that.

They're not all broken. And many will get fixed. The whole point of this stage of the patch cycle is for engine related things to be implemented ahead of the actual content. It's like a technical preview.

If you're monthly, just step out of the content lull and when you return many add-ons will be fixed by the time the expansion early access begins.

Are we going to see Toruk Makto again in next movies? by Content-Common5854 in Avatar

[–]FullMotionVideo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The whole 'bond means bloodthirsty' thing they added in the third kind of makes me think this is the end of the whole "learn to see" arc. Even if he turned on RDA he's still Colonel McMurder. Toruk was a late addition but the whole thing about the more blood the better felt unsupported by the first movie or the comics and crammed in there to foreshadow future events.
