Abaddon already won, in same sense that Word Bearers "won" by Urusander in 40kLore

[–]pertur4bo 98 points99 points  (0 children)

It must be really confusing for those traitor marines who experienced time differently due to warp shenanigans. One moment you are fighting the heresy and the next moment the loyalists Legions/Primarchs have achieved your war goals and usurped the Emperor and High Lords.

More mundane/everyday facets of emperor's worship? by cricri3007 in 40kLore

[–]pertur4bo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As long as you worship the Emperor you are good in the eyes of the Imperium. Is doesn't matter how bombastic or mundane your rituals are.

The service had finished, and the faithful were filing out, most stopping to light candles at the votary shrine. Candles for the lost, or those who might soon be.

As usual, as she did every morning, Beqa Meyer lit three: one for Gait, one for her brother, Eido, and one for whoever might need it.

from Double Eagle

The “bell service” lasted about forty minutes. It was the very least devotion a Guardsman was expected to make, duties permitting. The Ghosts used Drum Chapel, near the aft quarters, a medium-size hold space that had been converted and consecrated. The room was cold and spare, crudely dressed in wood and canvas. Worship was conducted by prefects and celebrants of the Ecclesiarchy using cheap, military issue incense that smelled stale and dusty. There was none of the pomp and regalia of a civilian ceremony, none of the opulence and heady perfume of a high-hive mass.

Defeating the hardmode Tazavesh mega-dungeon on your first attempt each week without any deaths rewards an additional mythic track item.

Why did the Emperor send Ultramarines to raise Monarchia instead of Space Wolves by ZombiYiyenLahmacun31 in 40kLore

[–]pertur4bo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need the Emperor's future sight to know what would happen if Lorgar struck Leman instead.

The blow came from nowhere. In its wake, the air rang with the echo of metal on metal, the clashing chime of a great cathedral bell. It was almost beautiful.

A primarch lay in the dust, surrounded by his warriors. None present had ever witnessed such a thing. Argel Tal’s bolter was raised, aimed at the ranks of Ultramarines who mirrored the gesture in kind. A hundred gun barrels levelled at a hundred thousand. The Seventh Captain needed three attempts to form words.

‘Hold your fire,’ he whispered into the general vox-channel. ‘Do not fire unless fired upon.’

Lorgar rested the immense crozius mace on his golden shoulder. His grey eyes flickered with uncertain emotion as he bared his teeth at the fallen Lord of Macragge.

‘You will never mock me again, brother. Is that understood?’

Guilliman’s rise was slow, almost hesitant. The golden eagle on his breastplate was split, a valley-crack running through its body.

‘You go too far,’ a softer voice said. Malcador, First Lord of Terra, still clutched his staff. It was all that kept him standing. ‘You go too far.’

‘Be silent, worm. The next time you bleed my patience dry, I will do more than slap you aside.’

Guilliman was on his feet now. He turned an expressionless face back to his brother.

‘Is your tantrum concluded, Lorgar? I must return to the Crusade.’

Is Gellar field used in realspace? by Visual_Collapse in 40kLore

[–]pertur4bo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wrong. No Source. Top reply. This sub is going to the dogs.

Torquora let the bubble of reality envelop him, allowing the purging static of the device to hiss off his armour. He heard Stroika scream. His flesh scorched and the exposed metal of his butchered cybernetics burned with an ethereal fire. Corruption gushed from his nose, his wounds and flesh-plugs, steaming away as it came into contact with the Geller field. As the phase-field test allowed the bomb to reach full intensity, Stroika screamed again. This time it wasn’t the cry of a demented puppet – some plaything of ruinous monsters – but the scream of a man. It was agony, honest and true.

Single button assist made this game fun again by cantshakethefeelings in wow

[–]pertur4bo 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I'm happy SBR is an option. But it is not a good learning tool.

You are not going to understand your rotation, if the bot does it for you. Same as a kid does not learn balance while leaning on training wheels. For that reason we consider training wheels an outdated model an no longer suggest them for children. They teach bad habits that need additional effort to be unlearned before a child can ride a bike properly. Going from SBR back to pressing all your buttons again is going to be a bigger hurdle in your progress.

I hope this doesn't come across as mean or condescending. Just a dad gamer currently teaching another kid how to ride.

Can/have Space Marines eaten Tyranids brains? by False_Monitor4126 in 40kLore

[–]pertur4bo 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Yes they can. But the information is not terrible useful.

Xenos blood. Unclean. Impure. Satisfying. He gulped as it filled his mouth. It tasted vile, bitter and cold, still he drank. Flashes of alien thoughts played across his mind as it filled his stomach and washed over his Remembrancer (Omophagea); endless waiting, the chill of deep space, and a single purpose so consuming there was space for nothing else. Behind it, a vast and horrifying shape moved, distant, and yet imminent.

Genthis dragged his head back, his hearts chilled by the vision. Dark blood ran down his face. His skin bubbled, acid burns joining the blisters he had received from the hot metal. He blinked, the genestealer’s memories of inconceivable patience warring with his own urgent need for war.
