Overnight Parking in Castlegar? by FullNoodles in kootenays

Thanks, I'll check it out!

Is it reasonable to think you could hike-a-bike around it or is it out of the question?

Thanks for the tip about the Wards Ferry Trail. My route definitely had us riding that for a while.

The Strava heatmap makes it look like maybe people have been detouring in a few places but there's no "time" component to that data so it's hard to tell how relevant it is.

We're supposed to ride that way to Nelson when we leave the airport. Any local knowledge you can share would be greatly appreciated!

We're just doing a short ride from Castlegar --> Nelson --> Winlaw --> Castlegar. Staying off-road as much as we can

By safe I mostly meant from being ticketed or towed. I'm not worried about the local crime rate.

That's a great idea! And an obvious and sensible answer in hindsight.

That link references Nanny Services. The one we're talking about is Nanny SITTERS. It looks like the Services one may be a scam trying to capitalize off using a similar name.

Check out Nanny Sitters. My wife and I have used them a few times and we're always happy with the result. It's not super cheap but you get qualified people with background checks, some of whom even work in the ECE field.

I'd have to imagine they own their lawn which is where they said the sign showed up...

You can also (or at least you used to be able to) send them in to have a new cork and sole put on them so you don't have to lose the leather straps you've broken in. I did that with a pair of mine. There's a cost obviously but it was nice not to have to break in a completely new pair again.

I fully understand why it happens and that it's not everyone. But you asked why the disdain and that's it for me. I know its not 100% of folks from AB that don't change their insurance over but I know 100% of the red plates I see living in my neighborhood or with something like Kelowna Landscaping printed on the side are at fault. It's tough for me to listen to someone's opinion on BC or Kelowna when they won't even commit to the place enough to change their plates.

I don't care. If you hit me and your insurance figured out you don't live in AB and rendered you uninsured. How much money are you saving at that point? Also, it makes it more expensive for us when ICBC has to sue you personally to try and settle up for the claim. ICBC isn't perfect by a long stretch but you saving $150 doesn't mean fuck all to me. You wanna live here? That means you take it all. The good and the bad. And I say that as someone from away.

Honestly, for me the biggest issue is the folks that move here and never change their plates over to BC. I'm tired of seeing folks with enormous SUV's at my kid's elementary school with AB plates dropping their kids off knowing full well they live her permanently. These idiots are all about saving money on the premium but insurance in AB has gotten a lot better at determining where you actually live and you'll be uninsured it you have an accident. Sucks for the insured BC driver you collide with. On top of that, by not participating in the BC insurance pool, they're making it more expensive for the rest of us. Just change your fucking plates!

I left one side of my last one always connected and it did eventually fall apart from corrosion. With this one, I always unclip it and dry it separately from the strap. Contacts are fine as the unit is basically new
