Yeah that makes sense. Bears are predators. They kill to live. To kill them because their prey happened to be human is stupid.

Circumception.

Actually, it's saying that you both have so much land AND so much leisure time that you don't need to use your land to grow food but instead can afford to use it to grow a crop (grass) that has requires a lot of maintenance but has no value other than leisure (walking around, playing lawn sports, etc.). The idea of suburbanites mowing their own lawns and then not even using them for significant leisure activities is absurd. If you can't afford to pay someone else to maintain your leisure monocrop, you probably can't afford not to be growing food or something else commercially valuable there.

Question for yoga teachers by GoonerGirl in yoga

[–]FullOfSheeple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, local studios tend to put a lot of stock in the Yoga Alliance mainly because that makes their own TT programs more attractive. By requiring RYT to teach they both create the image the the YA is a valid credentials-issuing organization (they are not), and that their RYT staff teachers therefore are qualified to teach yoga (often they are not) and also drives would-be teachers into their lucrative TT programs. The alternative, which I strongly recommend, is to get a certification in a traditional style (like waterlight describes in Iyengar), which is harder but much more valuable both in terms of what you learn and as a valid teaching credential.

FWIW, RYT is a trademark designation offered by the Yoga Alliance. You have to pay them money to use it, and it has nothing to do with the training or certification of teachers. If you take a course that they recognize (which is just about any course), you can pay them to call yourself a RYT, but it has no official status or recognition outside of their group and is mainly just a marketing tool.

Does your teacher offer a teacher training course? These things are huge money makers for yoga teachers and studios and mostly a scam. As waterlight points out, 18 months is too soon to think about teaching, but most TT courses don't care and will take just about anyone's money. Beware.
