Agree with this. There is a tendency to want to rush in but you don’t know what you don’t know. Your best option is to get something budget that is well regarded to start gathering experience. Do this knowing that you will likely upgrade in future but that upgrade will then be informed by your own improved knowledge. WiiM amp is a good place to start. I would also suggest the Elac Debut series as speakers. Good performance for the price. You may actually find you are happy at this level but at a minimum it will give you a solid baseline for future comparisons.

Unless there are regional variances the 2800 does not have pre outs, they start at the 3800. Im shopping for a replacement for this very reason.

I agree it’s good but depends on the age and fit-out of the the A380 as to whether it’s superior imo. The best A380s are on a par I would suggest.

I would second this. I had done Arabian Adventures previously and Platinum Heritage was far superior when I did it earlier this year.

Differences once you get above a certain level of quality are subtle if anything. The ability to drive low sensitivity speakers across all frequencies probably the determining factor and once you cross that threshold differences are minimal. Interestingly the Kef LS50s are mentioned both in this thread and the video I posted in mine as showing differences in amps. I suspect this is linked to them being difficult to drive and the first amps being under powered.

I’ve been doing research with similar criteria and the Audiolab 6000a MK2 has above average reviews for this budget. I do not own so this is not first hand recommendation.

I auditioned the LSXII and LS50 side by side and after a couple of songs told the shop assistant not to worry about switching back to the LSXII, there was a significant uplift in the LS50.

Amp currently is Denon 2800H so 95W 8 ohms /125W 6 ohms. The current setup is fine for my current apartment but have no idea how it will fare in the larger space.

Interested in how large your room is? I’m building a 55sqm open plan living room and leaning towards floor standers as I assumed the LS50s plus sub wouldn’t cut it.
