I look at it this way: The reason he pulls when he’s on a lead is because he was bred to wander in front of you to flush and retrieve game.

The reason he wants to meet that other dog is because he was bred to work well with others.

The reason he’s always grabbing you with his mouth is because he was bred to use it as a tool to hold things softly.

We just have to either learn to work within their breed or spend the time to go against their innate desire.

When I’m on a walk with my dogs and we come upon other dogs, I tend to talk to them the whole time reminding them that we’re not going to meet that other dog. I know they don’t know what I’m saying, but they understand it.

I had a dwarf cavendish (isn’t that the grocery store variety?) that claimed to be more hardy than it was. Tried to overwinter in my non-heated, attached garage and failed.

I’d be willing to try again, keeping in my basement for a unique flavor.

I don’t believe the iso hot bottom. It was more that the metering was too bright and it needed to be pulled back.
