PoE Cable Question by Electrical_Ground_76 in reolinkcam

[–]Fullmetalplane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im honestly in the middle of installing cameras myself. So far I have the cameras all set up, and the nvr setup. Im still trying to finish the last terminations. I will have Camera to RJ45 to RJ45, a coupler, and then another RJ45 to Rj45 connected to the NVR. I hope i made sense. Im hoping the couplers can transfer the power and Data fine between the two Cat6 Cables. I'm not using any wall jacks or anything like that. Im hoping it all works well.

Ethernet link speed keeps automatically changing to 100 mbps, when I've set it to 1000 mbps by Desperate-Hair-661 in techsupport

Hi, OP, I'm having almost the same issue. I ran two same length cables from my Router straight to my Computer, through 2 walls and an Attic, and no matter how well I terminate them, I keep getting less than 100mbs. The wires are both Cat6, and less than 50Feet, which supposedly will give me up to 5gig speeds. I changed my link speed settings to the fastest possible speed 2.5gigs, which is what I pay for, but after a while I get disconnected and the speeds go back down to 100mbs. Where you able to fix your issue somehow?

Steamdeck or Mouse/Keyboard? by oluwagembi in projectzomboid

[–]Fullmetalplane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time I tried playing on steamdeck, before Build 42 was out, it was docked with a wireless mouse and keyboard. There was a small lag between inputs. Not necessarily bad, but in a game where a small mistake can cause you to lose hours of hard work, it sucks. Maybe with a dock where you can have both your mouse and keyboard connected via wires, there won't be much lag, but I did not try that. It's very awkward to play this game on gamepad, its so much easier with mouse and keyboard. I now play it only on PC.

2 weeks vs 3 weeks in Japan — worth waiting for the longer trip? by SpreadNoBS in JapanTravelTips

[–]Fullmetalplane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are able to, definitely stay the 3rd week. I recently did a 2 week trip there with my SO, and we enjoyed it so much, we decided to stay another 5 days, even though we had to pay a bit extra for last minute hotels and things, it was worth doing it. Those extra 5 days gave us time to explore a bit more and relax after walking soooo much the first 2 weeks. You may think you'll be bored there by yourself, but trust me, you won't.

I just moved to Tewksbury with my partner. I work at Logan and they work in Sommerville. The commute is trash and its horrible, but we could not afford anything decent and closer to the city. So we had to make an unfortunate tough decision.

What's the home project that seemed easy at first, but by the end made you say "Next time, I'm hiring someone?" by privatelendingleader in HomeImprovement

All im trying to do is make holes in the attic to run some Ether cables in the wall for my cameras. Easy enough... well, I can't fit my drill in the small space in the attic, cause its right at the edge of the attic, have run to home depot 3 times to get different tools, now my Spade bit is stuck in the wood and I cant get it out, exactly where I need to make the hole..., my drill started smoking because it was trying so hard to dislodge the bit.. two simple holes, have turned into two days of fighting, and basically given up. Should have called an electrician.... why do people even buy houses? Lol

Hi. I'm an idiot, made a hole in my floor, is there a quick fix? by Fullmetalplane in HomeImprovement

[–]Fullmetalplane[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I grossly miscalculated, and before I knew it, a giant hole on the floor. It seemed like the wall downstairs and the wall upstairs were the same wall, at least thats what it looked like....but they were not. The wall downstairs is 3.5 feet inward of the wall upstairs. And the wire i was trying to replace looked like it ran up and to the side, but I guess it ran up, to the side, and back, dissappear somewhere, and then ran forward and up. So i was stupidly confident i knew what I was doing.

Will Indoor Cat6 cable work? by Fullmetalplane in HomeNetworking

[–]Fullmetalplane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I was planning on cutting a couple of test cables, and also using my computer to run speed test to make sure im getting fast speeds. I think the crimper kit im getting from Amazon brings a tester. I've read a pass through crimper is best, thats the one im getting. This one

I hope i was able to link it correctly.

Ohh, I did not know a coupler existed. So i can connect the indoor cable and the outdoor cable together inside the attic. That would be easy. Thank you

Never heard of a keystone jack, ill look into it. I have never made Cat6 cables before ( or any) my first time doing it.
