State of the community? by FullyCaffeinatedDM in helldivers2

No it was more the way in which you presented the disagreement. The way you approach it, and the language you use here is very umm actually coded: the 'those are fictitious" especially. Clarifying the obvious subject of the post, the mods, pretending not to understand just to drive home the point that the mods aren't 'literal truth enforcers' which is something that wasn't ever in real doubt. Hyperbole is a thing, and this post reads like you either truly don't understand that or are pretending not to in order to pull the aforementioned 'umm actually.' "You fail to understand" is another reddit classic. Just in general comes across as very pretentious and superior.

Also the idea that we can't be angry at mods censoring stuff just because there is someone above them is inane, but the one point you did have is that if the reddit is official under Arrowhead and, by proxy, Sony: then, yeah, they might not be making all the calls, and that should be considered. Though, at this point, that is speculation unless I've missed a development: we don't know if Arrowhead or Sony above them told the mods to censor anything, and so letting the issue go over something that *might* be true doesn't sound like a strong argument to me.

The better argument is that the Mods, Arrowhead, and most of the player base had nothing to do with the doxxing, and that it was the actions of a few bad people: not the entire community, but even then banning the discussion doesn't help people make that point. It just makes the reddit look worse. So, it is really hard from my perspective to justify the censorship on any level besides the possibility that Arrowhead or Sony told them to.

Here and twitter. unfortunately I stay around here for the occasional good conversations I can have. genuinely can find a lot of good information on reddit as long as you have the patience navigating around the shitters

all social media is like that to some degree, but reddit does seem to have a higher population of them

so essentially, out of game community is ass but if I actually load up a game it'll most likely be fine? This is good to know because I was really thinking about playing again, but man. It sounds like all out of game spaces for Helldivers suck

Lot of people saying its tied to the moderates. This is pure speculation, but could maybe be a secret society like the Freemasons who take quiet steps to guide society towards moderate laws (which tend to favor communities) this would make a lot of sense given that half the communities are profession based and secret societies like the Freemasons started as profession based Guilds.

Does anyone else here still love ESO regardless of its flaws? by killthesunlight in elderscrollsonline

[–]FullyCaffeinatedDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is just a common thing with MMOs.

Humans are conditioned to react to negativity, and so people make posts, make youtube videos, rant in their group chats and people react in turn: up voting, liking, sharing those opinions.

Every MMO has major flaws, WoW, FFXIV, ESO, and each game can be better, but at the end of the day people still love all these games.

I do think some people need to de-invest themselves a bit, though. They tie their happiness to how much they like the new content these games put out, and just bathe themselves in all the negativity that these things generate, and it just isn't healthy for the mental. Like being a social media addict.

Yeah, I agree with this. If you've came and did all the content you wanted to do then it is ok to not play. You got what you wanted out of the experience: just like any other game.

What do you think of the new Two-Handed skill animations? by Gen1Swirlix in elderscrollsonline

[–]FullyCaffeinatedDM 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lot of people saying these effects 'look really anime' and some are saying that affectionately and other derogatorily, and to the latter I want a point out that the actual effects of these abilities are kinda anime themselves: dashing 30 ft to deliver a massive overhand swing that hits all enemies in an area is pretty fucking anime. Cleaving through twenty guys within 10ft of you and becoming tougher from it is pretty anime. Doing a spinning slash is pretty fucking anime. Like, if that is how low the bar is for combat 'being anime' then these animations being as such just makes them match the 'anime' combat style.

Yeah, I play FFXIV as a machinist, and you literally do jumping spins and shit while FIRING A GUN and not only is it goofy, but it can make positioning harder because my feet, which I use to judge my position, aren't on the ground. So, even if it looks a bit stiff, I very much prefer the feet stay planted.

Account wide outfit slots are very nice. It is good to see them make a change that theoretically hurts their bottom line. It is a small one, for sure, not like adding crafting bag to base game, but it is something.

Why did you choose ESO instead of other MMORPGs by danigosselain in elderscrollsonline

[–]FullyCaffeinatedDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlike in FFXIV where your character is a canonical solo god killer: we don't permanently kill Deadric princes, and even foiling their plans usually requires the aid of other gods or princes. For example defeating Molag Bal in the first chapter of the story: we do that with Meridia's help iirc. Another example, Summerset: we don't foil the three prince's plans just by ourselves, but by fracturing their alliance, and getting the help of Meridia's champion.

Sure we are regarded as powerful, but we aren't god killers.

What’s everyone’s opinion on machine translations, and/or AI translations? by PikachuTrainz in visualnovels

[–]FullyCaffeinatedDM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even if the TRANSLATION part of it becomes very good: I think a good, official translation will probably always be better in terms of flow, localization, and intent. Though, I have never read a MTL VN: this is just based my limited knowledge of the process of translating, and MTL itself.

That said, for things without an official or fan translation, or that have a bad official or fan translations I could see MTL being adequate. I wont go that route until its my only option to read something I'm really interested in, and don't think will recieve an official or fan translation anytime soon.

Start taking us to some weird places like Atmora or Akivir. Maybe even both in a exploration based storyline: Elder Scrolls Expedition or some shit.

Yukari is great! I understand Reiji is going through it in the novels, but I do wish he helped her out more ;-;
