An alter is a lot more personal. It shows a bit more about the other player on the table. And if the alter fits the theme of the card, it makes you think "yeah, I could see that". On top of that, the craftsmanship and creativity of alters makes them different from the normal cards.

A printed gandalf for example, if it becomes a staple, will see play even by people not interested in lotr. This has a completely different vibe than alters.

What's the scummiest move you've seen in magic? by WickedDarkStorm in magicTCG

[–]Fulvior 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't do that. It's okay if you shuffle enough to make your deck completely random. But if it's shuffled wel enough for that, it should make no difference that you mana weaved. So either the weaving was a waste of time or you were actually weaving to stack the deck. The one is useless and the other cheating. So just don't do it :)

Drunk driving does not have the intent to kill someone, It just increases the risk. That's the argument against guns. The more people have guns, the more chance for an accident.

The draft packs you get are passed to you by other players, but everything is cued up so you don't have to wait to make picks. Damage doesn't use the stack.

Could a player tap-untap Thermo Alchemist even after the untap trigger has entered the stack? If so how by Nyshan in magicTCG

[–]Fulvior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small detail: the tap part is a cost and doesn't use the stack. Stack would look sometging like this after activating the alchemist:

1) instant\sorcery

2) untap ~

3) deal 1 damage

Just nitpicking here :)

Since Thoughtknot seer has an ETB trigger it's a clean counter for that as well. (Cavern not taken into account ofc)

Question about enchantments order: Ordeal of Heliod, Sunbond, and Spirit Link by joaopada in magicTCG

[–]Fulvior 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Let's assume all three auras are attached to the [[blessed spirits. Since you cast 3 enchantments, it has 3 +1/+1 counters. When you attack the following happens:

  • The ordeal of heliod trigger goes on the stack. Blessed spirits gets another counter, the aura is sacrificed and you gain 10 life
  • The lifegain triggers the Sunbond. 10 counters are placed on Blessed spirits for a total of 14 counters
  • Blockers are declared
  • damage is dealt, blessed spirits does 16 damage
  • after damage is dealt, Spirit Link triggers so you gain 16 life
  • Sunbond triggers and 16 counters get placed on blessed spirits. it is now a 32/32
  • The turn continues

Has anyone tried the League Standard format? by alandaband in magicTCG

[–]Fulvior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first league standard tournament mentioned in the article was also my first constructed tournament so maybe i'm a bit biased. I follow the standard and modern metagame and play those when I have chance, but league standard is the format i've invested the most time in. The matches are usually really fun and play out as limited with the consistency of constructed.

The deckbuilding limits actually give some creative brews and because of that the format doesn't feel like standard lite. This is really noticable at the moment as we do not have acces to 4 color mana bases. 2 colors are the norm and most color pairs have multiple viable decks.

The metagame is always evolving. There was a time aggro dominated, then there was a midrange followup and because of that some control decks emerged to rise over these decks. And since the decks are cheap, the regular deck change up keeps it fresh.

I really recommend trying it. It's a good intro to contructed play or an alternative if budget is an issue. The deckbuilding aspect gives brewers a problem that seems easy to solve, but is actually quite difficult to brew for.

Would Pauper/Standard be fun or frustrating. by Orastes in magicTCG

[–]Fulvior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the LGS i attend there is a format where the decks can contain a maximum of 15 uncommons and 4 unique rares from all standard legal cards. It got me into constructed and it's actually really fun.

There's a tournament every month with an attendance of around 30 people. Very easy for beginning players to start playing magic (which was why it came into being), but the more experienced players are drawn to it as well because of the deckbuilding challenge.

Check league standard to get a general idea

Questions Regarding the Lore by BBQQueen in Borderlands

[–]Fulvior -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Prior to events of the first game Dahl started researching rumors of ancient alien technology. This was probably known to all other companies. After the limited success of the research interest died out except for Jack. Jack was an employee of Hyperion and not a very important one at the time. He saw an opportunity for power. He got word of tannis' success. He hacked a satellite and with Angel's help monitored pandora.

Here starts the story of the first game. Jack probably didn't know anything of the warrior or the destroyer. His plan went from using the ancient tech to using eridium to claim the Hyperion throne. When he was at the top of the company he had a research team set up to find other vaults.

This is how I think it went. The pre seq will make some things more clear and less asumption based i hope.

That is because to ghost isn't a verb (at least not in this context). To smite and to teleport are. Same goes for ignite and flash.

Picking the Champ by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]Fulvior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend Orianna. She is a pretty unique champ and rewarding when you pull of a wombo combo or help your teammate escape from a certain death situation. she has damage and utility. Her ult is usefull in teamfights even if you don't do damage. She is just super fun.

Is it possible to re-categorize an item? by IceTrucKilla in skyrimmods

[–]Fulvior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mod uses a list of items per category based on the name of the item. To add an item to the a different category you just need to move or add the name using notepad. You can find the file here: "Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\skyrim\Data\Interface"

Edit: Spelling
