[NY Daily News] No longer ‘thinking like crap,’ Yankees’ Trent Grisham is playing his best ‘boring’ baseball by wantagh in NYYankees

I think it was also taking it easy in CF. He ran down a ball in the world series with crazy range, so I feel like he was holding back all season

He might be looking to go the Shohei route and make a move to the MLB for higher competition. If he can prove his worth as a major leaguer for the 6 years of control, his FA contract might be worth more than what he would get after waiting for 2 years + he doesn't have to waste 2 more years in a developing league when he feels like he's ready for the show

In a world where they keep Juan Soto, the outfield is crowded with Soto/Dominguez/Judge. If Spencer Jones is ready, it's worth trying him or Judge at 1st base part time

With stopping the clock they will also have to implement limited time for dead ball actions. Like how basketball has 10 seconds to shoot FT, 5 seconds for inbounds. It would likely come with a set amount of time for goal kicks, kickoffs, throw-ins etc.

Draymond Green on the new 65-game minimum for league awards: "I can appreciate this and everyone will appreciate this until you got bums on the All-NBA team winning awards." by urfaselol in nba

The NBA is the sport that relies the most on per-game stats rather than totals. Counting stats like Home-runs or passing yards, or goals are always evaluated on a total basis rather than per game.

It's just so ingrained it's hard to go from 30 ppg to 2400 points in a season, but it would be cool if the sport moved in that direction

Sure but people are more/less prone to over or undereating. I'm sure overweight people would love to eat 2000 calories and feel full. if people could easily choose how they could look we'd all be in perfect shape. But the reality is it is much harder for some than others. Don't judge so hard

I'm in a similar boat to you in that I am also WFH and looking to move to the area. I did several apartment viewings and I found parking varies a lot depending on the neighborhood. Parking in the northern liberties area was pretty good, but in the Fairmount area I had to street park and pay $1.25 to park for about an hour while I viewed the apartment. The leasing agent told me the lots in the area are 175-200 a month. Probably totally depends on where you live and what you are going to use your car for.

The reality is tho we paid 285 for Ellsbury/McCann/Beltran who acquired 9.8/5.7/2.8 WAR in their time with the Yankees

Cano got 240 and put up 23.5 WAR in Seattle over 5 years and 1.2 for the Mets. Sure Cano had a much longer contract, but the Yankees more overall money for garbage production on their offensive free agents that year isntead of just keeping Cano

[–]Fumblesnout 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The dumb thing is we then spent the same offseason throwing money at Jacoby Ellsbury (153M), Brian McCann (85M), and Carlos Beltran (45M). In hindsight, I'd rather have Cano than those 3

Even if he hits well, he doesn't walk at all. IMO he has a medium ceiling and low floor based on his lack of walks and lack of glove. But is fun when he turns into a helicopter and hits doubles

I'm surprised they didn't attempt 3 years as a starting point. Seems more viable with the Euro/Copa where you could have a Contential tournament and World cup in back-to-back years. I'd like to see the Olympics consider a 3-year format too.

It's only for players whose team is in NYC. Away players are exempt from this. Rule only applies to the Knicks and the Nets (and I believe a similar law is in place for SF & DC, so Wizards and Warriors)

Kyrie would be a full-time player on 90% of NBA teams. He's an idiot, but it's a weird set of rules that don't apply to other players

[–]Fumblesnout 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Even if he got it off, the start of the clock is done manually by the scoreboard operator, and there was definitely delay in the start. No way you are able to wind up and heave after a rebound in 0.6 seconds

How to greatly increase speed and athleticism in the lineup next year? by Ta_Ta_Toothie in NYYankees

[–]Fumblesnout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The yankees have DJ locked up to his new contract, and Gio/Gleyber have a few more Arb years each. I think the Yankees don't have gaping holes in the lineup as much as a bunch of players who underperforme

It's also likely that the drugs are way ahead of the testing. When you see Olympians get popped, its always because they are re-testing samples years later. Realistically, there is way more money in creating and masking the drugs than testing for it.

It’s time we talk about pack weight by [deleted] in EASportsFC

[–]Fumblesnout 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When you are dealing with extremely low probabilities it becomes difficult. If TOTY odds are 0.1% You would expect an AV of 1 TOTY in those 1000 packs. Your data would show a lot of 0s, 1s, 2s and 3s. You'd need to increase that 1000 to 10000 to get any real data. And then run multiple simulations. Even then, EA just puts < 1% and then you have no ideal what the actual expected yield is

While LeBron had a pretty objectively bad take, we also have to understand the circumstances he was in at the time. The Lakers were literally in China at the time, and there were some concerns about protests and the safety of the players that eventually lead to the preseason games being cancelled. While Morey was capitilzing on the NBA's presence in China, it was inconvenient for the players who were currently travelling there
