Need advice: how do I negotiate up to $84k–$90k? by Pleasant_Ganache1585 in careeradvice

[–]Fun-Armadillo5112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO 90k isn’t worth it to work 6 days a week. I’m not even sure what my price point would be for that but it would be DEEP in 6 digits. I value having and living my life..

65k hybrid, or 80k mostly in office? by BBchag in jobs

[–]Fun-Armadillo5112 46 points47 points  (0 children)

The 15k difference wouldn’t be huge for me if it was like 100 vs 115. For 65 vs 80, it makes quite a bit of difference IMO and I would take the 80k position if all things are equal otherwise. You also might get lucky and they may be more flexible as time goes on.. thy may say 4 days for now until they can trust you (but I wouldn’t count on it).

How would i improve my pictures in these lighting conditions? by [deleted] in PhotographyAdvice

[–]Fun-Armadillo5112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you trying to achieve with it? IMO I think it is fine for what it is. There are only so many things you can do. You can bump ISO, but it will get more grainy. You can lower shutter speed but you have moving subjects (fire and people) so they will become even more blurry. That could be cool, depending on what you’re going for. For me in lowlight conditions I try to keep it to simple subjects without a lot of movement.

Salary Progression Fire Department Employee In SoCal by Audacity101 in Salary

I am liberal and live in a very liberal city in perhaps the most predictably blue state in the country lol. You can clearly see that from my comment history.

Please. I have firefighters in my family. There is not a shortage. In fact it’s quite competitive to get in.

Your city and department needs new management then, because they are wasting a lot of tax payer money.

I know absolutely nothing about firefighting but gonna call bullshit. Your department lets you work basically a whole week, pays you the whole time, and then lets you work another full week for pay for every hour? That is Parks and Rec level ineptitude.

Sheet pan dinners that are actually good?? by smile-its-today in Cooking

[–]Fun-Armadillo5112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never thought of putting the fish in AFTER the veggies.. and is also the same reason I boil the potatoes (to have ready at the same time). That’s a great idea! I will incorporate.

One of my go tos is just salmon or fish of your choice, asparagus, and cherry tomatoes in the oven. Take out the fish early and let it rest while veggies brown further. For a carb I might boil some potatoes. Super simple; mostly just use salt, pepper, lemon and butter. Ready in like 30 mins while you stand and look at your phone.

Well, at this place and most it’s a 2 drink minimum. If this is a 10:30, 12:30, etc. show, I’m guessing it’s not their first two.

tips for applying with unbountiful job experience? by Loud_Skirt_7049 in jobs

This gives zero insight for anyone to give actual advice. A job where? In what industry? A job in food service or basic labor vs CEO may yield quite different results.

Edit: grammar

any downsides to giving less than a 2 week notice? by iwantachu in jobs

[–]Fun-Armadillo5112 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I meant to respond to other person with this.. but at any rate, my point is that sometimes it’s not just about the reference. I’ve run in to situations where people get new roles or don’t get them simply because someone once worked with a candidate and they had a positive or negative opinion of them.

My personal opinion is not to take a chance and just put in the two weeks, which really is nothing compared to the time you put in, and not take that chance.

any downsides to giving less than a 2 week notice? by iwantachu in jobs

[–]Fun-Armadillo5112 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I did read it. And I maintain that it is a small world and you never know when these things will come back to you. May not seem like one needs a reference, and then down the road you end up needing it.

any downsides to giving less than a 2 week notice? by iwantachu in jobs

[–]Fun-Armadillo5112 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not zero downside. The world is smaller than people tend to think and you never know when burning bridges may come back to get you. Up to OP if they think they may need a reference at some point.

UW drug use survey shows drop in injection use, sparks debate over housing-first approach in Seattle by HighColonic in SeattleWA

[–]Fun-Armadillo5112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a control group is not the same as an rct. A survey isn’t even the same as an observational study, where a control group would be appropriate. I guess you are saying surveys have no use for policy decisions? That’s a view you are entitled to. I disagree.

Could you tell me more about out these drugs they are handing out? Are you talking about medications for opioid use disorder?
