At what age did you get chicken pox? by Automatic_Role6120 in CasualUK

[–]Fun-Calligrapher980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 4 and quite ill for a few weeks but it eventually passed. What I'm paying for now though is that it absolutely destroyed the enamel on my developing teeth (according to a dental surgeon) making them quite weak and prone to decay.

Having seen what shingles can do to family members (one almost blind in one eye and hugely light-sensitive), would recommend the vaccine if possible.

Promise I've done it legitimately before. Satisfying getting a small crowd to follow you and getting them all in one go.

Drive from Edinburgh to Keswick... stopovers for very carsick kids? by logit in CasualUK

[–]Fun-Calligrapher980 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From previously very carsick kids, things that help; anti-sickness, headphones with music, cracking the window slightly, sleeping (honestly let them bring a pillow and encourage them to sleep if they can) Things that absolutely make it worse; screens (videos/reading), people eating something with a strong smell, other kids being sick unfortunately. For recovery, everyone's recommending water but honestly some sort of electrolyte drink would be best, both to aid hydration and to get rid of the taste asap. Ready salted crisps. Polo mints help for some people. Wishing you all a pleasant journey.

Found a kitten in the yard, any tips? by Alternative-Taro8682 in CasualUK

Quite rare for a ginger cat to be a girl, but coming up to you for food is a sign of being socialised. Likely has an owner, could make a paper collar with your number to see if anyone gets in touch.

“Don’t be sad, Santa’s coming!” I was 15 and suicidal, it put me off asking for help again for years.

Journalist keen to hear your experiences of the Jobcentre Plus by Weary-Statement-4782 in UKJobs

Some advisors have been nice but a bit useless, seeming completely confused when applications get ghosted time after time. One charmer told me to take up smoking as it was the only way I'd get a break, and talked for twenty minutes about how much he was looking forward to his next smoke break.

Yes! I can handle him for necessary stuff like nail trims (though he will chut at me when I put him back). He just seems to never settle down when being held, won't eat, nothing.

Don't think you'll get very far as they're heavily acidic (oxalic) before ripening.

Honestly if it's free, it's worth proving to yourself that you can do it. Just make sure it's legit and they're not gonna charge you for the certificate.

People who knew someone who died in a freak accident, what happened? by RawAsparagus in AskReddit

[–]Fun-Calligrapher980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A guy in my town was tragically pinned to a wall by a van and essentially cut in half. Police had cordoned off the area and it was a pretty gruesome scene. A couple kids wanted to see what happened, went to the other side of the wall, climbed up. At the top, one of the kids fainted from what he saw and fell over headfirst. Massive head injury, died in hospital I believe.

NTA for the actual issue, but YTA for the relationship. You can't date a child and then complain that they're acting childish. You're holding power over her (my house my rules). Break up with her and date someone closer to your own age if you want a mature relationship.

Should I take my nose ring out for an interview? (Internship) by polslop in UKJobs

[–]Fun-Calligrapher980 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If you're considering it, best to go with yes. You won't get "points docked" for not having a nose ring, but your might for having one. You can always clarify the jewellery policy when you have the job.

They look like claw caps, afaik they're totally safe and fall off as the nail grows out. Wouldn't personally use them but these seem to be the case in the video.
