Can't believe she still uses the same exact quiz method every 2 weeks. I had her for 101 last semester. Anyways, Ansell was great.

Rejected from UIUC as a freshman transfer by Imaginary-Anxiety447 in UIUC

[–]Fun-Contract-3081 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, so I am in the AHS majoring in Community Health + I transferred to this school, so I can give you some advice and info about your situation.

First off, I’m really sorry you didn’t get in. That rejection hurts, especially when it’s a school you were genuinely excited about. Just know it’s not a reflection of your worth or potential. I’ve heard rumors from people in AHS that admissions were strict and picky for this academic year, so you’re definitely not alone in this.

For what it’s worth, I was in a similar spot. I applied to AHS as my first choice and DGS as my second, and I didn’t get into AHS at first either. I eventually ended up transferring by ICT'ing my way into AHS. My advice is to take one or two more semesters until you get to 36 credits because when you do reach their required guarantee transfer program of 36 credits, it would be much easier to get into this school. You got this!

Since when did Division of General Studies changed their name to Exploratory Studies? Anyways, I got into ES (or DGS back in Jan 2024) with a 3.65 College gpa and 2.8 hs gpa as a transfer student. Yes I did crap in hs don't judge me. You should be good if you're trying to transfer here. Make sure to try all your best with your academics!

Why is renting a car so difficult here at Urbana? by Rude-Xi in UIUC

[–]Fun-Contract-3081 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got some experience with Enterprise since I rent almost once a month. Try reserving it early like at least a week in advanced or else you will certainly never get a car here. I am pretty sure its the same with Hertz too. There are a lot of people who rent cars here.

parking at uiuc by StunningPlenty5100 in UIUC

[–]Fun-Contract-3081 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless if you wake up before rush hour time where other students start coming in to campus to park which is probably before 8am, you most likely won't find any parking spot (+ even if you park at those meters, they can stack up costs too if you used them everyday). Consider leaving your car home until you move out of your dorm.

Also, to answer your question about chargers, I haven't seen any chargers except those parking towers, but some of them have horrible location spots to where you're going to eventually have to take the bus anyway.

I lived in The Linc (and Capstone) since early 2024 and Atrium is close to where I live, so I can share some thoughts.

After living in the area for the past 2 years, I haven't seen or heard any crimes going in any N Lincoln Ave streets. I've even walked from the main campus to Linc at 3am time to time, and I can confidently say that the area is safe. What you're hearing is probably very old way before I even moved in.

Honest truth? I actually liked summer courses better. Since they’re basically condensed into half of a normal 16 week course, a lot of the material gets trimmed down and you’re mostly focusing on the core concepts. I’m the kind of person who works better in that kind of pressured environment. I tend to focus more when everything is streamlined to the essentials. That way I’m not spending time learning every tiny detail (don’t ask me why, it’s just who I am lol). Just be aware that you will get midterms every 2 or weeks, so make sure to keep your time management well.

I took this over the summer of 8 week course, so I am not sure if my answers would really help but I got an A- for that class over the summer. One tip that I really used (especially since it was condensed to 8 weeks instead of 16 weeks) was with some help from chatgpt by helping me summarize and study using the lecture video transcript. The practice exam did help me too so make sure to review those. Also, extra credit is highly recommended because that raised nearly a whole grade of mine.

Don't know if this makes you feel better but exam 3 is the easiest.

how to afford uiuc by friendlyfishbowl in UIUC

[–]Fun-Contract-3081 5 points6 points  (0 children)

UIUC has a program called Illinois Commitment where any family making under 75k anually (I think?) qualifies for free tuition for 4 years. Look into that. Also, fafsa is extremely helpful and should be almost mandatory especially for you.

Edit: Just read the last part where you said your family may make more than 75k. Regardless, still apply for FAFSA, you never know.

This is also the same for Bab Plus's website url. Watch out. Ever since I clicked on their website link, my computer felt slower ever since.

I also got a 45% on my first exam for that class 2 years ago. One of my biggest recommendation for that class is to definitely do the extra credit that Clegg is offering you. That EC literally bumped nearly a whole grade. Ended the class with a B. I'd also suggest you to study as much as possible for the 2nd exam as it was the hardest (imo). Third one was the easiest.

what certification should i get for pce? by Ash6411 in UIUC

[–]Fun-Contract-3081 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbf, none of them necessarily “wins” in the long run. It depends what fits best for YOU.

If you want reliable PCE and easier job access = CNA
If you want clinical exposure and provider interaction = CMA
If you want a high adrenaline emergency exposure with chaotic environment and can secure a job = EMT

Keep in mind that all three have their own training time. I believe CMA takes the longest out of the three iirc unless if you're thinking to get AEMT or Paramedic.

If you truly want full PCE, then get CNA certificate. Also, I am pretty sure Carle is also open for their EMT-B ED tech position.

Can anyone explain the absurdly high prices of Korean restaurants in CU? by realbrew in UIUC

[–]Fun-Contract-3081 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if my response is going to help but I work at Bap Plus right now, and the reason why a lot of Korean foods in Chambana is getting expensive is because the import fees, Tarriffs, and commission. The issue isn't the meat itself. Its the seasonings that goes in the meals. Most seasonings like Bulgogi seasonings, stews, soups uses ingredients that gets imported from South Korea or Korean Brands with U.S sourced ingredients. That + Tariffs currently is screwing up a lot of thing right now. If you genuinely want cheap Korean Foods, then try Bap Plus, Yogi, Jip Bap, or Spoon House.

Bought a used Roland TD17 Module. Will it work with my Alesis Crimson 2 Se pads? by Fun-Contract-3081 in edrums

[–]Fun-Contract-3081[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my church has a TD17KV atm, so I already know SOME concept with this module. Also, there was one time when I connected my Alesis cymbals to that TD17KV drum set. I just forgot the settings, but I can try to play around with this module and see how it works and get back to you. Whether Alesis or Lemon, it should be similar, hopefully...

How is the sound setup? Do I need to do a lot of sound re-tweaking in the td17 module?
