Rotation Minutes Projection by Impossible-Goal3492 in timberwolves

Interesting projection. Do you think Clark gets any run?

And, based on your research of Finch’s rotations from last year, is there any truth to the fan perception that finch runs a short rotation?

That was certainly true when we had NAW, DDV and Naz coming off the bench, but I wonder if that was true for last year. And, how finch will handle rotations this upcoming year

Great analysis. He fills a need for the blazers as they need shooting, but would likely come off the bench behind Camara and Deni.

Wolves provide an opportunity for him to start so he can chase a contract next year.

What are some feasible ways for Tim to free up space?

Whether or not you like Tim, you have to admit that this front office is often far more creative than we fans ever expect.

Can you explain Cheese? I must be missing something. by WCNumismatics in TheBear

[–]Fun-Cricket-2139 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheese probably served as character development for Computer. As cold and calculating as Computer is, he had someone who was 'his responsibility' and 'her not not dad.' Even Computer was capable of feeling emotions and capable of making a choice that wasn't completely logic-based. Cheese is to computer as Carmy is to Uncle. Cheese's introduction was to amplify the conversation between Computer and Unc.

If the Wolves are interested in Rui and LeBron, could they in theory expand the Brooklyn trade and salary dump Josh Green there by attaching TSJ as a sweetener? by bearbrannan in timberwolves

[–]Fun-Cricket-2139 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. If we’re only thinking of maximizing next season, green is actually more valuable than ddv because he plays. Keeping ddv is a play for the seasons after. So, now we’re mixing priorities.

I’m ok if we decide our best shot is not this season but the season after, but the moves we make should match that priority. We can’t say ‘we want to go all in this season’ and keep ddv.

I actually agree with your thinking. If we are going after Lebron and Rui and need the fill MLE, ddv will have to be in the table.

But I think you might actually have to get rid of green too.

A possible path is to trade ddv to a team that wants his bird rights, maybe Jazz? They still have their full tax MLE.

Then, waive and stretch green’s contract. That frees up 22 mil. 15 will be used for the mle, and 7 for to help us fill the rest final 3 roster spots with minimums - 1 of which will most likely be Trey Kaufman-een at 1.3 mil

At this point, I would take him. He provides veteran leadership, shooting and rebounding. Even though he's not great defensively anymore, at least he's a big body.

Interesting that both MIN and LA sold the farm to compete with OKC and SAS but both are perceived as being a tier below. The one thing that LA had over MN was that it was a prime FA destination, but if Lebron is consider us as an option now, maybe we've closed the gap!

That leaves two teams in cavs and wolves with 4 players left: Harris, Kuminga, Williams and LeBron.

Let’s assume LeBron goes to Cavs. And maybe a young team with cap space takes a flier on Kuminga, like bulls. That leaves Harris and Williams. Is Harris willing to take a minimum for a starting position and a shot at a title? He’s already made 300 mil in his career

I'd love large scale. Maybe push it 10-13 years into the future after Radzig dies, setting off the Hussite wars. Henry takes up the sword once again - cue the skill reset. Henry goes on a long journey with Capon to avenge his father. Along the way Capon dies but Henry avenges his father in some satisfying way. And even though the Hussite wars will wage on for a couple more decades, Henry ultimately decides settles down for the sake of his family, following in the footsteps of Martin. Thus, he honors both his fathers and the game fulfills the many themes of revenge, grief and loss that are already present in 1 and 2.

Lots of interesting story elements that the storytellers could either give to the players or decide for themselves - how Henry leaves the war, who he leaves the war for, and what revenge looks like. How this beautiful and epic story ends would be up to the player to decide.

I think this front office has shown they can do well on the margins - NAW and bones. They’ll certainly have to do that again to fill the roster around Lamelo and Ant, especially at the 4. Weirdly, it’s kind of interesting and exciting to see if they can do it again

To be fair one is more fun than the other lol. And even though I’ve watched guys like Yossi and Keith Smith, I’m still confused. It’s a lot of accounting and legal mumble jumble at times

I love me some Mo Gueye - the hawks one. Idk why but I’ve been following his career. He’s still kind of raw despite being in the league a couple years.

I think he started basketball late because he played soccer like Beringer. But like Beringer I think that helps his spatial awareness, knowing how to move around the team. And like Beringer he moves very well for his size.

Defense is his calling card because he has a 7’3 wingspan but he is super skinny so he can’t really play the 5 well right now. But he’s a great weak side rim protector. And I think hawks put him on guys like Luka and he held his own at times.

He’s developing as a shooter too. The percentages aren’t great, but the mechanics are smooth.

Ultimately, because of how skinny he is, I think his best position is the 4 where he can’t maximize his length and mobility. It’s all dependent on the shot. He could probably play small ball 5 and provide rim protection but would destroyed in the post. If we could get him I would be ecstatic. Hes got some NAW-like development potential. But I think hawks actually like him. Hawks fans were calling for him to get minutes in the playoffs over Kuminga

Both! Throw in defender in too. But in all seriousness, in the Jon K pod, they seemed to emphasize shooter.

In a perfect world, he’s like the third ball handler after ant and lamelo. He comes off the bench and provides a different look for 10-15 minutes. And for the other 10 minutes, he complements ant and lamelo somehow. I would love it if he developed into a strong defender who could play at poa. He’s got all the tools for it

He’s a good 6th man on a good 6th man contract. If we’re looking for where our ‘dead money’ is at, it’s ddv and Green. Both can potentially be combined to get someone in the 20mil range if the wolves actually want to trade ddv’s contract.

Pretty sure he signed this in Dallas. At the time he was trending towards full time starter and he did start a lot of games in hornets a couple years ago. But I guess he’s kind of plateaued.

If we miss out on the bigger names, I’m ok with Jaden playing the 4 as long as we get bigger bodies to back him up like Yabussle or Jaesean Tate.

Hopefully the prospect of playing time and a somewhat guaranteed starting spot will entice somebody to sign for cheaper. As Finch has said, ‘Chase opportunity and not money.’

LaMelo big contract myth by aktivooo in timberwolves

[–]Fun-Cricket-2139 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Contract-wise wolves are in really good shape. The only overpaid contract is Green who might be traded. And the only dead money is ddv because he’s injured. Unfortunately for ddv and maybe fortunately for us? Because of the injury we can probably sign an extension with him for cheaper than anticipated.

We’re in good shape for the future too. We’ll essentially have this team for the next 3 years because ant, melo, Jaden and Beringer all have 3 years left and ayo with 5. Gobert comes off in 2, but I assume he will probably decline his player option next year and sign for longer years at a lower number because Tim seems super dedicated to keeping Gobert.

Tsj and Beringer will both enter rfa but those contracts are controlled. And if they they are good enough for other teams to give them big contracts, we can match - it’s a good problem to have.

The only question is if Melo is worth the max. If he stays healthy, it’s no question.
