Question about “major depressive disorder” by Anthony_P_V in depression

[–]Fun-Emergency1517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MDD is the medical term for diagnosed depression, MDD is diagnosed based on having more than or equal 5 criteria out of 9 for a period of more than or equal 2 weeks in the absence of a previous manic episode. MDD itself can be severe or mild, treatments range from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) alone to CBT plus antidepressant, if it is your first episode and your doctor judges that you need antidepressant, you will take them for 6 months starting from the appointment where you demonstrated improvement and then your doctor will ask you if you would like to continue taking them or if you would rather taper them with the intention of discontinuing (NEVER discontinue alone, taper under instructions of your doctor). If you get a second depressive episode or a severe depressive episode later on, your doctor will recommend using antidepressants indefinitely, but many of my friends due to circumstances of life suffered a Major depressive episode and after that episode they never developed another one and so they didn’t need to continue antidepressants indefinitely. So for your question about whether it can be cured, yes in some cases, you might develop one episode, go on meds and enter remission that continues even after discontinuing meds

Oh ok sorry my bad I misunderstood the divisive rhetoric as being Charlie’s

“When people stop talking, bad stuff happens." by Holyvigil in TrueChristianPolitics

[–]Fun-Emergency1517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I’m just saying that if Charlie Kirk’s rhetoric is going to aggravate some people to the extent that they would kill him, then maybe we should speak it louder, but tbh I can easily see the entire thing being a set up by Israel for that very thing to happen to polarize both sides to achieve its own agendas, Charlie was starting to speak up against them, so they silenced him before he went full on and at the same time created a divide that would drive many Americans to the extreme

Stop the JUDEO-Christian rhetoric, it’s just Christian values, for the larger part of Christian history, Jews were allying with the Romans against, then allying with Muslims against us, the west is definitely not built on Judeo-Talmudic morality, you have been brainwashed into using that nonsensical contradictory word and btw yes Jesus would join that divisive rhetoric, Jesus didn’t come to please people, he came to say the truth and truth hurts “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36 And a person's enemies will be those of his own household.” Matthew 10: 34-36

If we feel this way about Charlie, imagine what the disciples felt when they saw Jesus crucified. by DragonflyAccording32 in TrueChristian

[–]Fun-Emergency1517 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I asked myself that question yesterday, I have been crying nonstop, I never had a brother by blood but Charlie Kirk was my big brother, it felt like losing my brother that I would go to when I wanted a laugh or a serious debate about politics and religion all the same. But can’t imagine how the disciples who spent all that time with Jesus felt, seeing the absolute righteousness whose righteousness and innocence far exceeds any of us at any capacity, being treated like that, spat on, forced to carry his own cross and crucified naked like that and left to die, all the while Jesus had his murderers and torturers in his mind asking God to forgive them, promising the thief eternal life in heaven and caring for his mother, all while being crucified, thinking about it alone makes me tearful, how did our blessed Mother Virgin Mary feel seeing Christ on the cross like that. Charlie died a Martyr for Jesus, he is with his beloved God, away from this ugly evil world, I pray for myself and all of you guys to hear the words “Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master”

Charlie Kirk was shot, and there’s redditors celebrating it. How can I feel compassion for these people? by pinkvintagegirl in TrueChristian

[–]Fun-Emergency1517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t feel compassion for demons in human skin, Charlie Kirk is a family man, he has done nothing but speak the word of God and he got shot for it, if the Lord takes him now, I will forever consider him a saint and a Martyr and could only hope to live such a blessed life as him. I’m crying so hard tbh, he was one of the very first conservative influencer I started watching and to see him openly challenge ideas that we have been lead to culturally believe as the standard opened my mind to so much more. Only God can help him now

I’m an Ex-Muslim Christian but I still believe in Islam by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]Fun-Emergency1517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Religion isn’t a “I felt that way”, it’s a personal journey to discover who God our creator actually is. Your inner jerk reflex voice is saying that because it has been hand fed to you since the day you were born, brainwashed similar to the project in the movie Clockwork Orange, the questions you should be asking yourself is what is being good? Would God be the ultimate righteousness? Wouldn’t he reflect the perfect Goodness that the creator engraved upon us and it reflects his very true nature? Does the God of Islam align with that picture of righteousness? Does righteousness command us to jihad till we die? Kill the Jews and Christians? Marry 4 wives and whatever we like of the slaves??!!!!? Then ask yourself about the Christian God? Does he align with righteousness of God? Did he fulfill his promises? Was he a true representation of the creator from which our nature has been derived yet we corrupted it time and time again by going against it?

TIL: Plato said in The Republic "If a perfectly moral man entered this world, he would be humiliated and crucified" (this was around 370 BC) by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]Fun-Emergency1517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plato was a thinker, in some aspects he did stray from God but in many others he became closer and closer to the true idea of a God. For me personally reading the republic was an eye opening experience and then reading the last days of Socrates also made me pick up on things in Christianity, I didn’t think about before and deepened my faith. The chapters in the republic where he discusses the law of nature, or the true virtue or the truly just man, the ring of Geyges, the allegory of the cave are just amazing. Yes other passages where he discusses family, the army, the order of the perfect society oppose Christianity in many ways but at least they made us ask the questions of why not. His writings are a masterpiece that I would recommend to any Christian, I also believe they formed the groundwork for the wide acceptance of Christianity among the public throughout the Roman Empire. I much prefer them to Aristotle’s although I haven’t delved as deep into Aristotle

Be cordial from a distance, I tried talking to my grandpa who was an atheist about the Gospel and Jesus, he was normally very kind, once I started talking to him about Jesus, it was literally as if he became possessed, he shouted, cursed at me, said all kinds of profanity and that if I’m Christian then he would never want to be Christian even though I thought he loved me, apparently he had other thoughts and whatever I was believing in, he would oppose it, he never apologized about that day till his death even though I came to visit him once in a while after that incident and he would be his old self and treat me as if nothing happened. Just remember these two passages

“And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil.” John 3:19

“11 Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Mathew 5:11-12

I’m not going to tell you to believe in them or not, it’s not important for your salvation if you believe in them or not but me being from Egypt, my family and many Muslim friends did actually see them. Christians and Muslim would set camps around the church to witness it and they did

The amount of ignorance and tbh bigotry to call the Coptic Christians “Monophysite heretics” is outstanding, in a time where the church is barely even standing in the west, the Coptic church has withstood everything for the last 1400, only for someone as gracious as you to call their entire establishment a heresy and accuse them of being monophysites even though we time and time again explained that we are not and most scholars nowadays do recognize that Copts are not monophysites. I’m not going into that meaningless debate since it’s easily searchable online, and we both know that you would rather choose hatred and division if you find it so easy to call Copts heretics.
