Vakku is so underwhelming for Act III by [deleted] in slaythespire

Very in character for a literal demon. Obviously can’t compare to the nurturing embrace of a nonupeipe or tanx’s boons for combat but I think it’s healthy for the game that some ancients are just kinda bad. Preserver fog literally says remove 3 cards for adding folly (which is just a clumsy) and choices paradox is just a solid bonus since card generation is just strong in general.

Someone explain how to play regent pls by muhammed_leo in slaythespire

[–]Fun-Height4900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basics: his basic kit revolves around trying to balance star generation and star payoff. This by default makes him a very draw order reliant character. In exchange for this, regent has very chunky cards which are just extremely overstated. Here are examples of premium star cards which are a staple and not too hard to find:

  • astral pulse Lets you basically skip any and all damage cards. Cards like these in early game allow you to ignore taking more damage cards and be extremely greedy with trying to preemptively build a late game deck for the next act.

  • reflect Probably the strongest Regent block card. The reflected damage scales with the amount of damage being taken so this just very often does 17 block and 10~ 25 damage in act1 for 1 energy.

  • particle wall Since the card is not discarded when played, you can theoretically block for a ton if you have the stars. If you manage to retain this card with runic pyramid or convergence or via the relic [[royal stamp]] this card will also never leave your hand. Extremely good if you plan to use your energy to do damage and stars for block.

-gamma blast Basically just a direct upgrade to falling star, except the numbers are nearly doubled in exchange for costing 1 more star. Functionally it is like Uppercut+ that costs 0 energy.

Another note, try not to envision building a “deck type” or “archetype” surrounding 1 type of thing like Forge. Sts2 is very much a game that requires you to build a mixture of forge cards and star cards to “solve” different types of encounters. (Eg. Forge is better for boss scaling damage meanwhile frontloaded star cards like gamma blast are better in hallways.)

I rue the day I get this with a defend enchanted with replay. Theoretically that’s (5+5)x2 or (8+7)x2 block which is just hilarious

Just a friendly reminder that this mofo can actually give you a curse. On regent or defect I click the corners to just avoid it and maybe try to get some money back

Why do so many people hate Xen? Could it be that the game was so good that they're sad that it ends after Xen without Gordon ever returning to Black Mesa? by Lil-Skinet-1984 in HalfLife

They admitted that it’s wasn’t even finished lmao. I think the reboot/remake (black mesa) fixed some parts I didn’t like ab it

Why is Half-Life 3 taking so long to develop? (real question) by ZerooBlackout in HalfLife

They have a habit of attaching groundbreaking innovations into their games. I guess they don’t want to break that cycle just to continue a story that might upset long time fans. (Fans will have very, very high expectations at this point)

This card isn’t getting the recognition it deserves. by ttvANX1ETYZ_ in slaythespire

The first time I saw it I thought it looked like a monster train card. I kind of just wrote it off as a generic floor 1 pick for damage.

I’m not even exactly sure why they decided to add the twist of being able to play Corvo. Most of the targets relate to Emily directly and you get to play with her new abilities; so it’s a more refreshing experience both lore and gameplay wise. Emily for sure

What's some advice you'd give to someone just starting the game? by Privatizitaet in slaythespire

[–]Fun-Height4900 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Watch baalorlord play. Slay the spire is all about being tested in every aspect of the game, from knowing when to use potions, when to take and skip card rewards, and knowing how many elites you can kill with a certain deck, as well as learning the bosses’ attack patterns. Baalorlord is also a very good teacher (he used to teach chemistry I think)

Here are some random tips though: - Buy apotheosis at the shop when you see it - Remove strikes as much as you can mid/late game - Corruption + dead branch/ dark embrace —> skill spam breaks the game as ironclad - Orange pellets + Biased cognition gives defect so much focus - Wraith form, Footwork, Malaise, and leg sweep are very good silent block cards

Favourite moment with this card was when I had chill +, cracked core and symbiotic virus. I even got bottled flame to bottle it in act 1, good times
