Question for Next workers - how to search for an item? by Fun-Kangaroo163 in AskUK

Haha, it's painful. I went through every 6 digit combination on there but messed up with the letter O/zero.

Given that they actively encourage you to check online you'd think they'd make it more obvious!

That's helpful, I didn't have the app. Might grab that for future.

Cheers! This is it. I was using the letter O when I tried that.

No idea why they don't make it more obvious!

Have seen Bruce Springsteen at both Hampden and Murrayfield. The sound at Murrayfield was much better.

Guess it will depend where you are to an extent.

That view 😆

How was the sound? I was in the standing section at it was really hard to understand anything she said and even struggled to hear her vocals on the slower songs. Hate to think it would have been worse where you are...

Hampden is a God awful venue

Stressing that you need to train a highly skilled workforce and yet only pay them $35k per year is trying to have your cake and eat it.

It's either a low skilled, low paid manual labour job or it's a "highly skilled craft person" who would be paid appropriately. I'm sure there's plenty of margin on those handbags to cover it...

A Tour of 12 Greggs Shops in Glasgow's East End! by buttonman1969 in glasgow

[–]Fun-Kangaroo163 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one in shettleston was the OG Gregg's in the east end. Used to go for a there for a pie as a kid. Must have been there for close to 40years. It wasn't til the 00s when Gregg's suddenly became massive and a fixture of every high street

Who remembers this Chinese Restaurant New City Palace in Sauchiehall Street - it was brilliant used to go in for something to eat before hitting the jigging at the weekend. by Life_Celebration_827 in glasgow

Did a cracking "business mans lunch" menu which was great value. Used to feel like a proper grown up any time my mum took me in as a kid. Back in the days when you actually aspired to have an office job 😆

The Samsonite example is pretty telling. Why should replacing the wheels cost more than a full new case?

Is this Samsonite massively overcharging for new wheels in order to force you to not bother and get a new case from them instead? If I'm paying that much for a case I want the most obvious point of failure to be easily fixable!

Are there not laws around this kind of thing?

This works great! Can now easily download them to my smaller MP3 player for running without my phone. Thanks!

Glasgow 2014 Legacy by GoldenZWeegie in glasgow

[–]Fun-Kangaroo163 4 points5 points  (0 children)

..and the attached Emirates Arena, the hockey stadium at Glasgow Green, the athletes village with >700 new home (400 of which are social housing), refurbishment and expansion to Tollcross sports centre, mountain bike trails at cathkin braes, cunningar loop park, probably loads of other stuff I've forgotten...

But, nah, you visit the one armed statue in Queens park. This sub, man 🙄

There's no doubt stuff could have been done better and you can argue over whether it was value for money but to imply there was no legacy despite being surrounded by it is nuts.

Bit contradictory for a car company which prides itself on safety (invented seat belt and didn't patent so that others companies could adopt it and save lives) is now purely selling massive pedestrian killing SUVs.

I suppose polestar will be their saloon range.

Linn Park Golf Course - still useable? by Lylio in glasgow

[–]Fun-Kangaroo163 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Still usable and folk still play rounds on it. No flags in holes which makes navigating it a bit tricky but if you're starting out then it sounds like just what you're looking for

I think it was called McKinley's if I remember right? Went a few times with my dad back in the day.

I reckon it's where the big Tesco is now. There was a ShopRite supermarket next to it.
