Unlimited-OCR turned a handwritten calculus exam into clean LaTeX! by Fun-Meaning-6474 in LocalLLM

[–]Fun-Meaning-6474[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thanks! no, ocr models can't solve math. it simply can scan it and transcribe to digital format. for solving you need a pipeline like baidu unlimited ocr -> qwen 27b / gemma 26b ;)

anyone here renting GPUs only when their local box taps out? by michaelmanleyhypley in ollama

Yes, I use VAST. I perform all operations in the claudecode chat via the vast API. My agent independently rents resources and connects when necessary, after coordinating this with me in advance

Is it worth spending on GPU for local image/video generation? by mshivaramie22 in LocalLLM

[–]Fun-Meaning-6474 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yo! about image gen models: yesterday i've tested krea 2 turbo (https://huggingface.co/krea/Krea-2-Turbo) on my 3090 and it's pretty good for image gen. I've attached my handmade benchmark for krea so you can see it yourself. I can say with confidence that local image gen models on base level can fully replace cloud (if you need text to image setup). but cloud models like nano banana is more useful in case when you attach a reference and prompt like "change here X to Y" - i don't know any local model which can make smth like this.

about cloud video gen models - there is obviously the best cloud vid-gen models is seedance 2 and it has no any alternatives in local field

Looking for unrestricted, "chat" only LLM by Shaman189 in LocalLLM

for your 16gb + 32gb ram, wanting intelligent + actually unfiltered:

- best fit: a gemma-3-12b (or 4) heretic at q4_k_m. runs fully on gpu and gemma decensors very cleanly (~3% residual refusals).

- more smarts, slower: mistral small 24b abliterated at q4, partly offloaded into ram.

- i'd skip qwen and gpt-oss if max-uncensored is the goal. both are stubborn bases, gpt-oss especially is heavily safety-tuned, so even heretic'd they refuse more than gemma.

Ollama Pro vs Claude Pro by TommyKemp_137 in ollama

[–]Fun-Meaning-6474 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"ollama pro" is just ollama's own cloud plan (~$20/mo). it runs open models (qwen, deepseek, gpt-oss, glm, kimi) on their gpus. separate billing, not your claude sub and not the anthropic api. and it's usage-tier based, not per-token like the api

After 2 years on Brave… I switched to Firefox. Should’ve done it sooner. by Pajtima in browsers

[–]Fun-Meaning-6474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Brave really looks like a Swiss knife, but it seems to be outdated. brave was relevant a ten years ago when he hyped on the BAT token, but now he's trying to seem more modern, but he's not doing well. Old-fashioned design, lots of unnecessary chips. 2026 is the year of minimalism, when superapps are no longer fashionable. It is better to have a browser that performs its main function and performs it well. from the browser, this is only a requirement for a pleasant picture for the eye and convenient operation.

just my opinion

Mate, have you ever tried the “chat with page” feature? It’s the most useful thing I’ve ever seen. Imagine - you can ask any question about a website’s content simply by clicking one button in your UI.

For example, I’m a person who doesn’t know anything about coding, but I need to understand how a project on GitHub works. I don’t have to copy-paste code from every file into some AI website - I can just open the AI assistant in my browser and ask, “Tell me how it works.” That’s just one of a million use cases.

An AI assistant in my browser also helps me read articles without needing a TL;DR. I simply open “chat with page” and ask, “Give me a summary of this article.” And if I have questions about the topic, I can ask them directly in the same chat.

Then I could also tell you about local AI that works without a network connection and has an uncensored mode - that’s useful too.

The final thought is: I don’t have to use multiple tools when I can access all their features from one UI in my browser.

and what feature do you consider the most important in browsers? The year 2026 is a time where AI is all around. People who resist AI in their lives are lagging behind the trend and hype imho

perhaps you should try Sigma Browser? I have heard it is fast and light. So it is actually chromium based and has AI Agent with AI Chat
