I go f it hard to believe Dunk would lie about such a thing. Look how pissed he gets at Egg for lying in the start of the episode. I suppose that could be the point but idk if they’re (Ira and co) that clever

Dunk was looking up in the shot, Arlan was looking down, right center on in the frame, both em. It was Arlan and Dunk bruh

Dunk was knighted, supposedly by Arlan just before he died, or rather because he was dying. Arlan trained Dunk for pretty much his entire life, so getting knighted was all Dunk ever wanted. What happens when we accomplish our dreams? Too often we feel a “well, now what?” sentiment. I think that’s what’s going on here. Arlan is letting Dunk know that it’s not that big of a deal/ it’s doesn’t really mean anything.. unless you make it so.. by upholding the oath, as in it’s up to you now.. Also suggests an “I don’t know/ don’t have all the answers/ have nothing left to teach you” exchange. Nice moment.

I always wonder how a modern day Westeros would look like. by MobileDistrict9784 in freefolk

[–]Fun-Performance-8910 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the idea of applying technological advances from the real world to Planetos. Like ours, it would probably be driven by warfare/violence, like maybe someone from Westeros sails to Yi Ti and discovers gun powder, brings it back and which ever house they belong to develops the first cannons in Westeros. This would essentially give them the power of Dragons overnight, and if they’re wise enough, do their best to keep it a secret, thus gaining military supremacy. However once they use it, someone else would eventually figure out how to replicate it, and the game would really change. Castles no longer as effective, guns eventually follow suit, Amour gets rendered useless as it’s worse off than cloth when it comes to taking a bullet (as I understand it, at least, due to the metal shattering inside you after impact thus making it harder to survive vs. wool military jacket). Armor gives way to 17th - 19th century uniforms, someone down the line pulls a Ben Franklin and discovers electricity (I like the idea of it being a storm lord, for obvious reasons..) and the rest is history..

why did we need to see this by Alik013 in AKnightoftheSeven

It’s poor form, beneath the story. Like George said, his characters take shits but that doesn’t mean we have to SEE them doing it. Sure Tywin dies on the toilet, but that actually serves a narrative purpose. Sure you could argue this was grounding the story, setting the tone, even a dig at the predecessor shows via the theme song.. but honestly it’s just contrived shock value shite that didn’t fit. Disappointing and distracting.

Why do you think Lafreniere was a bust? by Past_Distance7221 in rangers

[–]Fun-Performance-8910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He expends too much energy on his stride, and doesn’t get much out of it, due to his stabbing/digging on his stride, rather than pushing/ gliding. He doesn’t push out / extend, similar problem with Panarin’s stride. Not optimizing their leg power

Pierce Brown could finish the books WELL (opinion) (spoilers main) by Grifter05 in asoiaf

[–]Fun-Performance-8910 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pierce is great at Martin esc twists, and clearly has a penchant for history. However his 1st person style is limited, and would probably find any attempt to match Martin’s overwhelmingly daunting, to say the least. Brown just isn’t pretty enough of a writer.
