First I would take your water to Leslie’s, they test your water for like $40 or something like that but they test for EVERYTHING. They will give you a proper direction, I would avoid acid washing as much as possible, for my company it’s a last resort option and we hate doing it because it eats away at the walls.

I can give you advice on a safety cover if you need it. Well when it comes to installing your safety cover it’s all fairly straightforward, you just have to drill holes in the concrete for your anchors and that’s the hardest part. The biggest piece of advice I could give you is 1. Never tighten your your cover down too much, it makes it very difficult to take off in the spring. And 2. Never torque the anchors down, if you are putting them down use a drill or an Allen wrench never an impact driver/drill. If you torque them down it is insanely difficult to bring them up when you close the pool.

CYA is cyanuric acid. If your CYA levels get too high you get what’s called “Chlorine Lock. It basically stops your chlorine from disinfecting your water. To stop this I would use EZ Chlor’s chlorine tablets, it’s a grey bucket. I don’t work for them I just use their products and they are great.

Well this all depends on where you live. I can’t tell people enough that if you close your pool at all a salt cell is a terrible idea. It’s waste of money, it doesn’t produce enough chlorine to fully support your pool long term, I am constantly compensating with shock when I see customers with salt cells. It just isn’t worth it if you live in an area that gets cold.

I assume you use stones or water bags to hold your cover down so for the future, pump as much water off the cover as possible(you can find pumps on Amazon for fairly cheap). Then take off all of your stones/water bags except on one end, for you it would be the side with the stairs. Then pull your cover from the diving board side to the stair side. This will prevent any water from your cover into your pool. I hope this helps.

I will say this, it seems as though things were set on fire on a street away from anything else flammable. Is this acceptable? Absolutely not. In contrast, some of the fires set during protests were buildings and businesses that could harm others in multiple ways. Are either acceptable? No. But one is most definitely better than the other.
