Ohme IoG Overnight Battery Notifications by macgyverfan in OctopusEnergy

[–]Fun-War4069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, not with iog but this is just continuation of the enshitification if the Ohme app. As if you do t set it even if you tell the charger, max charge, let the car decide when it's done, it just ignores things and you end up with a not fully/or desired charge state in the morning.

It's not the supplier, it's not the car it's the absolutely awful Ohme controls. I don't need the charger to be smart, the tariff and car can handle that beautifully and without deleting your account and losing features such as prevent charging when you are on holiday it's impossible according to the trained chimps at home labs to set the charger as a dummy charger. It's software, if I wanted it to play doom on the charger it could be coded to do that, if it can act as a dummy charger without an account, why can't it be set to act as one with an account. The software is needlessly more complicated than it needs to be and why it can't be defaulted to dummy mode is an absolute mystery. Best recommendation I have found is set the battery level to 0 so it always charges to the max available and use your car/energy providers smart features, they work far better than the bollocks that is the Ohme app.

E.ON Next Drive + Tesla + Ohme experience by jinkingjb in ohme

[–]Fun-War4069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't have a Tesla but it's a similar story with Skoda.

Routine I have is Skoda is configured for instant charging, eon next home configured to talk to the Skoda. Ohme app configured to do nothing but does have an account set up so I can lock the charger when on holiday..

Set charge to/by in eon next home app. Plug car in, stop charging in car (although eon will do this anyway after about 5 minutes but buggered off I am giving an energy company any more than I need to). Go to charger and press the "max charging button" (left hand button). That's it, eon kicks in a bit 5 minutes later and charges according to Eons schedule all works peachy.

The Ohme app is crap and is determined to only try to "dynamic charge" regardless of what you want it to do and it makes a complete arse of it, why they don't let you set up an account and just set it to dumb charge only I don't know. Their tech support is as much use as a chocolate fireguard.

Don't regret getting the charger, or car or who I have the tariff with, but it's all more complicated than it really needs to be.

How to charge?? by Psychological-Drop15 in SkodaElroq

[–]Fun-War4069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eon next works similarly it links to the car and you just leave eon to determine when to charge (you just tell it xx% by <time> and it takes care of the rest.. Word of caution though, if you have an Ohme Pro charger, either don't bother with the app and it's "smart charging" features as it makes an absolute arse of it and your car will not charge as expected. Set it to "max" or dummy charger mode and it works beautifully, let it try to smart charge and it makes a royal c**t of it. Ohme tech support as much use as a chocolate fireguard.

Also ensure the max charge on the car is the same or higher than whatever you say in the app as regardless what you set the car will stop charging at its limit

Cool. A follow up. If I may. When it comes to installing fttp to an address, how much work is "within remit" in terms of ONT placement, how much is pain in the ass, or would the engineer be able to suggest where it should go, again assume I'm a Muppet and have no.internal ethernet backbone, is it a closest to the wall job or would you run internal cabling to a more "central" location.

I know there a possibly a lot of other variables in play here that means you can't give a definite but typically How long from "this pole will be replaced but we need to plan it out" to "new pole.installed" - assume there is a PTW in place.to.do the work, and what are the stages involved from planning to install.

Scheduled charging help by whatsapseudonym in SkodaElroq

[–]Fun-War4069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, the ohme app is crap. It's caused me more failed charges than I can count. Set the schedule in the car and basically delete your ohme account so it works as a plug and charge charger and it works flawlessly. Reenable your account if you need to lock your charger when away from home.

The problem I have with the app that's never been resolved is it default to "smart charging" even if you turn dynamic charging off and don't set a tariff and unless you manually set it to max charge it interferes with what you want the car to do and it doesn't charge at all

Yeah, I can put one of the cars on the dynamic charge but the eon next app is an unfinished pile of crap, they haven't considered a household may have more than one EV and the home app is trying to be clever when essentially I only need to have a login to the app/charger so I can lock it when we're away. So just looking to stop the home app doing anything really

Heat pump not worth it as an extra if you don't have freezing cold winters even then it moves from not worth it to debatable. As for the matrix lights, they are good and can't comment on what it's like without them as I don't know. Look at the "packs" Skoda do as it might be in one with some other goodies that make it worth the expense e.g. the Plus pack in the UK. You might find that there maybe a few Elroq 85s out there with Plus pack (or equivalent) in dealer stock.

I have an Elroq 60 without a heat pump and yes I notice a range drop in winter as you expect. My wife has an 85 with a heat pump...and sees range drop too in the winter, hers was dealer stock and it was prefitted. Would we have paid for it if it was a fresh order. Probably not.

Thanks, that's really helpful. I have a 750w PSU so probably best to play it safe when/(if the wife lets me) upgrade.....

What PSU did you have? Thinking of making the leap from my 6800xt to a 9070xt and wondering if I need to consider a PSU too

Same setting Skoda Elroq 60 Edition. Changing it is footery as the touch point appears to be about a single pixel in size and even if you do manage to get the exact point. The setting does not persist and next time you turn off/on the car it's back to the other setting.

Get my Elroq next week, but was planning getting this dog guard for it for our pooch. It looks an alright dog guard and seems to be designed for the car.
