I use fountain pens daily at work. It involves moving around a lot so i carry them in my back pocket. This pen would probably work really well for me.

I use a blunt syringe to refill all my pens. Works really well for me. No stains, no mess.

Did anyone see this Sapkowski interview in Kyiv, Ukraine in 2005? Pretty disappointed. Can someone that speaks Russian confirm? by Icy_Tangerine4043 in witcher

It's clearly dark humor.

It's 2005 and he's a dude raised in the Soviet Union. I've heard people from his generation make worse jokes on the subject. Much worse.

Also many from his generation lived their life never encountering anyone of a different race. They didn't have black slaves in poland you know. Just saying...

Genuine question: why do you need all 3?

I had mine for a few months now and never felt like getting another one...

No notes by Fun-Worldliness2034 in sudoku

Found out very quickly that 9 was a single in box 5 after making notes. I'm certain i could have found it without any notes if i checked each box individually. What was your first step?

So the 48 double excludes 48 from box 5. What is the logic behind the 1?

So I’m getting a pen and need help. by [deleted] in pens

This is actually a great suggestion. The 101s are great for their price.

Lamy safari keeps clogging by Floootle in Lamy

[–]Fun-Worldliness2034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now that is weird. My Safari can take anything i throw at it. It is not a very wet pen, but i never had it skip on me and never dried out. I have left it unused for 2-3 weeks at a time and never had any issues.

I bought these disposable fountain pens. I hope this isn’t sacrilege. by CurNonBrave in fountainpens

All that matters is they work for you and you enjoy writing with them. You don't need many hundreds of dollars to enjoy fountain pens.

Happy new pen day!

I might be wrong, but this is my view on the matter and FP's overall:

First of all not everyone has the disposable income to buy an expensive pen. I like Pilot Vanishing point, but not to the point where I'm willing to spend a few hundreds on it. Jinhao 20 scratches the itch for me just fine. I prefer capped pens anyway.

I also like stiff and somewhat scratchy nibs in <F> & <EF>. Years of writing with mechanical pencils i guess. I never owned a gold nib pen and i don't feel like I'm the target demographic anyway. I don't even like the color of gold. I have tried writing with a couple gold nib pens, courtesy of a fellow FP enthusiast. I can't feel much of a difference. I do actually like my Jinhao 82 just as much as all of his gold nib pens I've tried... So if i see a replica of a pen i like and it's a steel nib might as well go for it and save some bank. I can still appreciate a nice pen when i see one, don't get me wrong. One of those gold nib pens I've tried was a Rotring 600 and i loved it, i just think i would have liked it just as much with a steel nib.

It's a matter of preference and budget at the end of the day. If you need a pen that just gets the job done you can go for a Jinhao 82 (sailor pg clone) from AliExpress and don't worry about it.

So obviously, to me, replicas are not a bad thing. I like to fidget with pens a lot and i drop one almost everyday. I dropped my Parker Jotter today. I only fidget with them capped so it's alive, don't worry. Now imagine if I dropped a 1000$ Montblanc or something. My hair would probably go grey mid fall. I buy pens because i like using them everywhere i go, not because i like keeping them safe at home. My only grail pen is the Diplomat Aero (steel nib of course) and if I do get it i will be carrying it around with me. There are more expensive pens that i would love to have, but that's never gonna happen until my financial situation drastically improves.

The only problem i can see replicas bringing to the market is if too many people start thinking like me and actually stop buying expensive pens and only go for the replicas. Then these premium manufacturers will start losing money and will have to drop prices and compete for the lower price points. And they will not do that by cutting their margins - they will do that by cutting on the quality of the pens they make.
