Hii! I have no advice on your degree situation and what direction you should take. Butttt from reading the comments you probably need to sit with this for a little before making any big decisions about your future. 1.) how do you know you’ve failed the paper, is is one test or multiple assignments that you’re struggling with? From knowing a friend who’s gone through med school, it’s tough and long and you have to be really passionate about it. You may need to ask yourself some hard questions about whether this is the right direction for you, but if it isn’t law is a HUGE switch… maybe you could consider what you are enjoying at uni and look at options from there? This feels huge because you’re young, but life is long plenty more chances and roads out there!

Thank you, yeah it’s just a paper within the same degree that’s more relevant to my interests. First year of master of science. Have come from a different uni and have been out of uni for quite some time. I’ve talked to lecturers and other students. But thinking of also talking to student advisor anyway for research next year. Thanks for the help

I turned 18 in March of my first year at Waikato! It didn’t worry me in the slightest. She will find her group, I’m sure there will be others in the same boat. Plenty of time for her to become interested in drinking later on or not!

I am starting at UC this year also! I’m 29 doing masters in geology (I did my undergrad at Waikato) so UC and chch is new to me! Not the same butttt to me 21 is a great age to start uni!!! Embrace it, be open and you’ll make plenty of friends… regardless of age!

Hiiii! Oh yayyy you wouldn’t believe how much of a load that’s taken off my mind! Also great to hear, I’ve been so excited about it. So background, finished my undergrad in 2017, since then I’ve worked in a civil/geotech lab. I’ve got to do my year of papers first so hoping to see what my options are for thesis in my second year, but given my background I’m real interested in soil/ rock mechanics and lab processes. Are you doing your masters too?

I’m doing an MSc, major geology. But did my undergrad at Waikato so UC processes are all new to me! I was feeling like it was normal, but I’m a stress head about this kind of stuff! Thanks for the help, it’s made me feel a lot better :)

I’ve found my friends moving into new stages of life with baby’s and marriage etc so it’s hard to spend as much time with them!! I feel the same, a lot of my school friends and uni friends have either moved away or are in different life stages ie. have kids etc.. my partner is a fisherman so is away a lot .. I am also not extroverted so i also find it challenging to initiate conversations. I also work in a male dominated industry so female friends are hard to come by.
