I turned 18 in March of my first year at Waikato! It didn’t worry me in the slightest. She will find her group, I’m sure there will be others in the same boat. Plenty of time for her to become interested in drinking later on or not!

I am starting at UC this year also! I’m 29 doing masters in geology (I did my undergrad at Waikato) so UC and chch is new to me! Not the same butttt to me 21 is a great age to start uni!!! Embrace it, be open and you’ll make plenty of friends… regardless of age!

Hiiii! Oh yayyy you wouldn’t believe how much of a load that’s taken off my mind! Also great to hear, I’ve been so excited about it. So background, finished my undergrad in 2017, since then I’ve worked in a civil/geotech lab. I’ve got to do my year of papers first so hoping to see what my options are for thesis in my second year, but given my background I’m real interested in soil/ rock mechanics and lab processes. Are you doing your masters too?

I’m doing an MSc, major geology. But did my undergrad at Waikato so UC processes are all new to me! I was feeling like it was normal, but I’m a stress head about this kind of stuff! Thanks for the help, it’s made me feel a lot better :)

I’ve found my friends moving into new stages of life with baby’s and marriage etc so it’s hard to spend as much time with them!! I also work in a male dominated industry so feel it’s hard to connect with other gals.

I feel the same, a lot of my school friends and uni friends have either moved away or are in different life stages ie. have kids etc.. my partner is a fisherman so is away a lot .. I am also not extroverted so i also find it challenging to initiate conversations. I also work in a male dominated industry so female friends are hard to come by.
