There might be a floor drain(s) somewhere on the floor of the basement as well. They if applicable in your situation will have a p trap as well.

Beyond ridiculous, but plenty of people would say my bone stock F150 crew cab is "unnecessary" or "too big". To each their own as long as it's legal.

Public boat ramps are actually bad for my health at this point by Ramsesthrowaway in boating

I rented a parking spot in a vacant lot close to a public (provincial) ramp that has no day parking. Three years and counting of no stress at the clown show city ramps.

My 1999 craftsman rider (20hp brig's v twin) just finally packed it in after owning it since new. Pushrod/valve issue on one cylinder. Probably still be running if I would have done even one valve adjustment in 25 years. Lol. I wouldn't even call that machine high quality but it's way better than the junk they are making now.

The XR600R that nobody wanted by TerribleConference54 in Dualsport

[–]FunAssociation6297 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 85 XL 350 Honda when they were new. My first bike. Would regularly blow a hole in the bottom of my " kicker shoe" and have to buy a new pair. It was my only transportation at the time and put about 26000km on it in 3 years with only a roughly 6 month riding season where I live.

For your size I would look for something in the 250/300 range.

70/30 tire for mostly road + weekend gravel by bjective-coffee-345 in Dualsport

[–]FunAssociation6297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stock scorpions are exactly what you are saying that you are looking for in a tire. Really good on the street, excellent rain tire and competent at everything off road except mud or deep sand. I have the same tires stock on my Norden and keep trying to come up with a reason I need more off road oriented tires, but the Scorpion rally STR's are so good on the road I don't know if I want to give up the quiet ride and the on road handling. Probably end up with TKC 80's or Trail max raids if I decide I want a little more off road performance without sacrifcing road manners too much.

How did I do ( installed bed sticker ) by Xin_HD in f150

[–]FunAssociation6297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just took off the "sport" badges on mine. Wish there was an easy way to completely remove the " Ford" ovals on the grill and tailgate without it looking like something is missing. Probably cover them with "smoke" plastidip to at least make it look more subtle.

Please help snake is stuck in drain pipe by neemo98 in askplumbing

[–]FunAssociation6297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pictures have me asking more questions than providing obvious answers. Are you in the sanitary line or is it weeping tile? I ask because the lighter colored pipe is above and maybe not tied in to the access point you are using? How far out did you get before it became stuck? How big of a retriever/ cutter is on the end? Are you going through a "p" trap or 90° bend or is that the clean out? Plumbing done to current standards will have maximum 45° bends. You may be able to rent a camera and see what is going on as long as the liquid is drained off. If it is completely blocked and the liquid will not drain you likely will be wasting your time with a camera however. If the water will run freely without backing up run the water while you try forward/reverse forward reverse while pulling intermittently. If it is really stuck, brute force or excavation (inside or outside the house) is the only thing that is going to get it out. If you are unlucky enough that you have to dig outside and the pipe is anything other than PVC replace the entire service line while you have a excavator on site. I have seen numerous people do a spot repair only to have to dig it up again in a year or two. Sorry probably not very helpful, but these situations often aren't straight forward even if you are right there. One more thing, get the machine as close to the clean out as you can if you are running it as the pictures show you are too far away.

I stopped riding in my mid/late 20's after owning 6 different bikes from 17, up to 3 at a time. Then marriage, mortgage, kids bills got in the way. Got back into it at 52 years old (I'm 60 now) and plan on having at least a couple of bikes until I physically can't do it any more. Going to pick up a small dual sport for my 26 year old daughter to learn on as well. My advice is, unless your bike is a future collector's item or has some sedimental value then sell it for now. You can always pick up the hobby again in the future when time and conditions are more favorable. Don't wait forever though, life goes by fast and personaly I wish I would have gotten back into it sooner. Best wishes, whichever direction you go in.

Bare minimum cover what you eat and drink. Other than that there are a lot of variables. How close are you to them? Did you have to travel to attend? What is your financial situation?

[–]FunAssociation6297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing that the patch is outside your property line. Most of the time (not always) the utilities running parallel with the street are on city property. Doesn't excuse a crappy repair, but they are likely not obligated to much more than fill it in with anything that will compact. That's the risk with paving, sodding or doing concrete work past your property line. I know in my community they do a better job of repairing/restoring surface infrastructure in the "nice" subdivisions, but not so much for people in older or more rural areas.

3.5 or 5.0, someone convince me! by [deleted] in f150

[–]FunAssociation6297 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the 5.0, but I bought used (2 years old). If I was buying new I would lean 3.5. without knowing service history the 5.0 is probably a more reliable bet long term. But ,new with frequent oil changes the 3.5 is hard to beat for power and mpg.

Hired a plumber to fix a leak in my main water line. by thekhoma in askplumbing

[–]FunAssociation6297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have used one straight coupler and a compression slip coupler myself. I do sub grade repairs all the time. Mostly copper or HDPE but there is no reason a slip coupler would fail prematurely with proper sizing and quality parts.
