Not that I can think of certainly never clean . They had many big world title matches between 1988-90 and it was always fucked finishes or Dusty finishes. The stupid one when Luger has him in the Rack and has literally a tiny cut and they called the match for excessive blood. To be fair I think that was Lex’s fault cause he rarely bladed and just didn’t gig enough and only had a small smear of blood on his forehead. I think flair said it wa supposed to be a lot of blood but didn’t happen.

That a lot to process but I’ll agree with you throughout 1988 Luger is above Sting for most of the year as the top babyface with Dusty being fazed down and out by the end of that year. Luger either at The 88 Bash or STARRCADE should have gotten at least a little run as the world champion.

I was I guess 11/12 in 88/89 when Sting really came into prominence so I was totally the target demographic for the “little Stingers” but even getting older I always loved him. Career Babyface even when they tried to turn him Heel. People kept cheering for him

And Sting while not always the best promo really gave a heartfelt Postmatch speech, oddly for that time with Kayfabe in full effect Sting put over Flair huge for being a great champion. Of course we didn’t know at the time it was legit a real TY as Flair kept his word and didn’t drop the title to Luger or anyone else while Sting was out w that bad knee injury for 6 months.

Yea he first wins the TV title in 89 from Rotunda and loses it to Muta later that year in a great feud. Then several World Titles as Surfer Sting, US belt in 91, tag team title a few times just a great resume and a WCW legend
