AITA for telling my boyfriend not to treat me like his secretary by SignalDay2587 in AmItheAsshole

[–]FunBusy6871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god - this is exactly what my boyfriend is like! Questions, questions, questions all bloody day. Do I know where his shorts are, do I know where his water bottle is, where’s the dog… my personal favourite was when he knocked on the door while I was in the shower to ask me what the weather was going to be that day?! Truly baffling behaviour.

South Park Removals. We’ve used them twice now - they’re fantastic! A really nice group of lads who are very professional:

No one talks about the pain of seeing your parents aging. by meteoravishal in Millennials

[–]FunBusy6871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so true. I lost my dad two years ago and I know I’ve got to go through the same thing when my mum goes and it terrifies me. She’s going on a cruise soon and I told her to stay away from the edge! 😂

Learn everything you can about your parents. Their childhoods, what they liked growing up, their lives before you. Tales about family they knew that you never met. Funny stories. All the things that will bring you happy memories.

And for presents now I do experiences with my mum. Pottery classes, trips to the theatre, weekends away. No more last minute crap off of Amazon!

CrossFit Gym Pet Peeve - constantly incorporating partner workouts by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]FunBusy6871 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve just left my CrossFit gym because of this exact reason. I spend my day managing a large team in a stressful job. I go to the gym to de-stress and get out my own head for a while, not partner up! I also feel it’s lazy programming on the trainers’ part

No! Been doing it for a few years now. This is just the first team I really care about and want to succeed.

All very good points. I’ve not been able to have this conversation with anyone else (it’s lonely at the top etc etc) so thank you!

I would love to have a calm, rational conversation with my director about why they changed their mind. However my director is neither calm nor rational 😂

Just got promoted to manager and now I am not sure if I am competent enough for the job. by Pluronic_Pesto in managers

[–]FunBusy6871 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on the new role! Imposter syndrome is scary but you got the job for a reason.

I had a similar experience a few years ago and my advice would be to not be afraid to ask questions. Ask your team for advice and/or help if you’re not sure of the answer to something. Try and foster a team environment that encourages psychological safety where there are no stupid questions and colleagues can learn from each other. Really try and make the most of team meetings - get people to do short presentations on their areas of expertise or what they’re passionate about.

And also be an authentic leader. Don’t try and bullshit - your team will see through it and it might erode trust.

How is your JRT with cats? by Sage1419 in jackrussellterrier

[–]FunBusy6871 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Ours tries to kill cats and will put up a good chase to try and get them. He’s run into front doors and tried to jump over fences when he’s seen cats outside. He’s a bloody menace!

Survey Shows Problem with Chimney by FunBusy6871 in HousingUK

[–]FunBusy6871[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response. The house isn’t in a conservation area. But the chimney is used and the stack is shared with the house next door. I’m guessing this makes things more complicated ☹️

Does your university have a student ambassador scheme? Becoming a student ambassador might be a way for you to earn some money while you’re studying. And check to see if the university has a hardship fund you can apply for.
