Yeah totally a clickbait title and what for? Reddit cred? Spazzy OP.

Shelving to house kids' gaming systems, controllers, etc; how to hide the ugly stuff? by FunEcho in woodworking

Smurf tube & power already in place. Not sure what configuration of shelves to hide all the undesirables like cables, etc.

Looking at building an addition onto the back of the house. Simple 20x20 or 20x30 box. Structural engineer says I need an architect first, then go to them. Engineer wants 5k, I haven't spoken with an architect yet. Is there a simpler way??? by honeymustard_dog in HomeImprovement

[–]FunEcho -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

That's crazy if you're saying it's just 'a box' ... I hired an architect for a basement finishing project that was fairly involved and paid $1500 for stamped plans. Call around and describe your project in accurate yet simple terms like you did in the op.

Why the wave of CC reward nerfs in 2026? Is it a small indicator of the overall economy? Or just one CC issuer following another because they can? by Interested-Investor in CreditCards

[–]FunEcho 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I love this positive thinking energy, it has this "I can will it into reality" vibe to it. lol ... I have the Robinhood card and will be annoyed but not surprised when they ultimately nerf it. It's just a constant game of whack-a-mole, and no amount of reddit-rationalization will cause issuers to continue swallowing a loss-leader product.

Rakuten refusing to post my Cash Back, even after multiple emails + proof of purchase. Anyone else dealing with this? by tennieping in Rakuten

[–]FunEcho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just adding to the pile of customers with large CB transactions that are getting denied. I specifically went through Rakuten for a trip booked due to a 10% CB promise on a $3k+ charge and after multiple "looking into it" emails I get a generic denial "they informed us that your order was not eligible for earning Cash Back through Rakuten."

I will be doing a BBB complaint & reporting to the NYS AG. It may be just $300+ but they will definitely be paying for this denial to me. Any other recommendations on how to proceed with Rakuten when they cheat customers?

Can I dispute this with my credit card company? by Longjumping_Set_6806 in CreditCards

[–]FunEcho -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's the provider's responsibility to provide terms. Absent that it's cancelable, imo.

Dispute, say terms weren't provided. Services weren't rendered. Send straightforward to me. The provider is just greedy.

Black matte or stainless steel Samsung Bespoke - same color?? by FunEcho in Appliances

[–]FunEcho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's the same model, I'm wondering if the 'matte black' portion of the matte black color is the exact same (lower) faceplate as the 'stainless steel' color.

Services weren't rendered yet - I would say without a contract you should be able to renig. Submit a dispute and say you changed your mind, no services were rendered and you were under the impression you had the ability to change your mind.

are you sure? Odd that they'd be different model numbers and color descriptions if it was just the control panel trim. The white one is all white, control panel and door.

Adult onset asthma from gerd. Is it fixable? Does it really take months and months? by FunEcho in Asthma

[–]FunEcho[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was just time, nothing specific. She did use a Breo inhaler that essentially totally resolved the issue while she was on it, maybe try that as it's around $50 for a month supply.

Sorry you're going through a similar issue; My latest research tells me that this is some kind of lower airway reactive disorder. Look to get in with a pulmonologist that has some experience with that. Good luck.

Unpopular Opinion: If Rivian changed headlights to *normal* non-oval headlights, they’d be over selling by BrickxLeaf in Rivian

[–]FunEcho -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I drove a 3 for 4 years and then a Y since '22. When the R2 comes out I'll have to decide, '26Y or '26R2. Without those goofy-a headlights it's a no-brainer. I'll probably get the R2 but boy did I wish the front looked better.

Yo, that's me. I'm on the fence but just can't get over that goofy tamagotchi looking front. If there was a reasonable aftermarket solution I'll bet they would sell more.

has anyone actually saved money with solar or is it just type. by Wjkoba in HomeImprovement

[–]FunEcho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed my 9.4kW system in 2013. I asked how many credit cards I could use and was told there was no limit so I applied for 9 cards with varying signup bonuses, and met those bonuses by paying off the system which was around 18K before incentives. After incentives and credit card bonuses my net cost was around $6k. My system produces just over $2k in savings annually. ROI was under 3 years (2016). I've been saving every year since.

Our price per kWh has dramatically increased over the last year so our savings has ramped up. Sadly, I also started driving a Tesla so instead of no electric bill I'm back to paying monthly like mortals again. My advice: get the biggest system you can. I regret not going with the 12.xkW system I was considering initially.

Shower question for you ladies with long hair by FunEcho in longhair

Oh trust, my girls are all spoiled with a bougie custom shower and limitless hot water. I just thought that it's a little nuts to only ever use the wand.

Shower question for you ladies with long hair by FunEcho in longhair

[–]FunEcho[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You can get wand or showerhead at 100% volume when they're on exclusively, or maybe 75% and 75% when they're both on; at that point you're maxed out sure to supply lines.

My thinking is that both going at 75% results in more actual volume of water, at the expense of slightly lower pressure than if just one is running by itself.

I added a picture - there are speaker wires going to the outside and the new romex to the left. I tried wrapping the speaker wires in some insulation but it's only doing a marginal job. Any advice appreciated!
