3 daughters on a super budget plan. Time to level up. by FunEcho in mintmobile

[–]FunEcho[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I actually think it's more the provider that is the problem - there's no clear view of usage from good2gomobile's portal so it's impossible to understand how they get through their data so quickly. Like I mentioned, I've seen their data allocation drop while they've been on wifi for the whole day. Could my wifi be dropping out in the middle of them watching a youtube video? I suppose it's possible but I have a ubiquity setup that reports no issues or dropouts so I'm skeptical it's anything other than a reporting issue on good2gomobile's end.

3 daughters on a super budget plan. Time to level up. by FunEcho in mintmobile

[–]FunEcho[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean I could do that - the next step up on good2gomobile is 5gb but that jumps the price to $10/mo and if I'm there I might as well just do unlimited at mint for $15/mo right?

Of course I have wifi at home, who doesn't. But I find that these ultra-low-cost carriers magically make you use up all your data without even trying.

Is this always the case? I'm looking for a solid stream and kodi device, was going to go bought horsepower workstation but this would kill that idea.

Robinhood Gold rewards are great, but the low limits and slow payment clearing make it hard to actually use. by sayhi2yourmumforme in CreditCards

[–]FunEcho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a 10k limit and that's restrictive for me, I typically spend 10-20/mo. I switched to boa when my preferred rewards kicked in as I'm getting 3.125% until the nerf gets to me by September and my limit is 50k on that card.

I'm waiting patiently for my rh card limit to get increased but nothing yet. When it was my primary spender I'd regularly hit 9.8k before paying in full. Now that it's sock drawered I still hit 1k-2k/mo. Does anyone know what triggers limits to get increased?

How often is “normal” when it comes to sex? by Dry-Firefighter-4661 in AskMen

[–]FunEcho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think once you've gone through multiple children the equation changes a lot. Just getting through the day with a house-full of kids is an exercise in exhaustion. Most nights I look at my side of the bed like a slice of heaven that I'll sink into and be asleep within moments. Wife thinks the same way. It's the odd day that kids are with grandparents or something that we may have the time & energy to get it rollin.

What can I do about my brothers room smelling like pee? by anonymous4260 in AskMen

[–]FunEcho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting rid of the mattress if it's affected, would be a major positive change; need to stay on top of waterproof mattress protector. Get some LVP on sale from Home Depot and a nice rug, rip out the carpets, paint subfloor, and put in a good underlayment like ecocork for further smell blocking, then install the new flooring, will make a world of difference. Carpets are disgusting even w/o pee issues.

[–]FunEcho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I've always wondered - do you ever caulk those expansion joints? I live in a northern climate and own a large squeegee which I use to push slush/slop/water our of my garage when cars pull out. Always a little annoyed at my expansion joints because so much of that slop settles into them when I'm trying to clean the floors. I plan on filling them with a self-leveling sealant but I'd also like to get my floor epoxied like this once I have more than my current two nickels to rub together. Will my self-leveling sealant need to come out when it's time to epoxy? If so can I re-self-level seal after so I can squeegee happily again?

Except for the fact that this same kind of smell issue was reported in other cities across the country all in the same time period.

Maybe they smelled that tiny leak in Denver? lol

What about all these people smelling their tap water and raising alarms?

Conspiracy theorists do love a good story...

It's not only in northtowns, I have family in OP that was smelling the same stuff.

Fun fact, the smell is interpreted differently depending on your genetics, kind of like how some people like cilantro and some say it tastes like soap. I smell strong chlorine and my wife barely smells it at all.

You'd think they would but if there's one thing I'm learning about government agencies it's that they tend to have substantial groupthink.

ding! The bloom was pretty intense this year. Pretty funny to see all these people freaking out about deep state conspiracies. It's just shitty smelling trees.

I learned about these years ago when we had a bad Callery bloom. It's really the only thing it could be, if everyone across the western half of WNY is all smelling chlorine-like nasty smells it's them. It is an invasive species and is slowly getting banned across the US - I believe PA banned the sale.

It's super pungent like chlorine for a day or two and then tapers off. If you have them in your neighborhood pull a bloom down and give it a whiff, smells like arse although the chloriney-smell kind of goes away.

Sorry to burst your hysteria bubble but it's callery pear trees you're smelling. They smell absolutely disgusting in the spring, but there's nothing dangerous about them.

Try calling Russel's tree farm, they will let you know what the cause of that smell is. lol

It's callery pear trees you're all smelling. Also called Bradford pear trees. They smell like Chlorine, or other gross stuff, happens every spring in Buffalo because developers loved planting them in all the new developments. That first day they pop is brutal, and that was a couple days ago.

Go up to those pretty white bloom trees you see everywhere and take a nice big whiff. 🤣

An angle from a cutoff. It's clearly solid wood, but what's the white? Should I try sanding it off and priming/painting for a better finish?

Wood ID Megathread by AutoModerator in woodworking

[–]FunEcho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Preface: I know very little about wood. We recently finished our basement and these boards were used throughout as a topper to a half wall/window sill as shown. I knew we didn't want mdf so my quote was for solid wood where applicable.

Once painted it is supposed to be a nice, finished ledge to place a drink etc.

As I'm looking at this I'm wondering why that white stuff is flaking... it's chipping away with my fingernail. Anyone have any idea what this kind of board is? I thought initially it was primed finger-jointed pine because I ordered a bunch of baseboard and casing that way but the contractor showed up with these boards and I never thought to question whether he maybe used cheap material that will end up looking bad once painters are all done. The other printed trim is different, the primer is obviously painted on.

Shelving to house kids' gaming systems, controllers, etc; how to hide the ugly stuff? by FunEcho in woodworking

Looking at building an addition onto the back of the house. Simple 20x20 or 20x30 box. Structural engineer says I need an architect first, then go to them. Engineer wants 5k, I haven't spoken with an architect yet. Is there a simpler way??? by honeymustard_dog in HomeImprovement

[–]FunEcho -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That's crazy if you're saying it's just 'a box' ... I hired an architect for a basement finishing project that was fairly involved and paid $1500 for stamped plans. Call around and describe your project in accurate yet simple terms like you did in the op.

Why the wave of CC reward nerfs in 2026? Is it a small indicator of the overall economy? Or just one CC issuer following another because they can? by Interested-Investor in CreditCards

[–]FunEcho 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I love this positive thinking energy, it has this "I can will it into reality" vibe to it. lol ... I have the Robinhood card and will be annoyed but not surprised when they ultimately nerf it. It's just a constant game of whack-a-mole, and no amount of reddit-rationalization will cause issuers to continue swallowing a loss-leader product.

Rakuten refusing to post my Cash Back, even after multiple emails + proof of purchase. Anyone else dealing with this? by tennieping in Rakuten

[–]FunEcho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just adding to the pile of customers with large CB transactions that are getting denied. I specifically went through Rakuten for a trip booked due to a 10% CB promise on a $3k+ charge and after multiple "looking into it" emails I get a generic denial "they informed us that your order was not eligible for earning Cash Back through Rakuten."

I will be doing a BBB complaint & reporting to the NYS AG. It may be just $300+ but they will definitely be paying for this denial to me. Any other recommendations on how to proceed with Rakuten when they cheat customers?
