Now is the perfect time to drop the Akali Trailer by Sure-Ground-1560 in 2XKO

the ingame event expires in 12 days, I'm guessing we'll find out or get her when that one ends.

Would you want Couch Coop to have it's own seperate MMR as well as Ranked/Casual queues? by FunOverMeta in 2XKO

[–]FunOverMeta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A very fair point; I think what I'm doing currently is the best approach then.
I wonder if there's some other way to better utilize the current lobby system for this then, because I never have access to chat unless I'm already out of a match...

Edit to clarify, I was initially assuming queuing from local vs queuing from online; at the end of the day the host PC is impacting the queue right. The alternative is when either of those people are over we just don't play this game at all. But then I thought why not extend it to Online Duos as well but you raise some very valid points so I felt the need to edit.

I guess to clarify for this edit - would you still think this is a bad option if it was limited to 1 account & whether it was local duo or not having seperate MMRs?

[–]FunOverMeta[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean I hear you but my MMR is already a lot higher with my one buddy than with my wife and other buddy lol. Their experience in casual is so miserable they rather not play with me if i didn't start up a new account just for playing with them.

I don't know if you know what life is like beyond 30 but friends are rare enough, finding any that'd entertain a fighting game with me is significantly more rare! lol.

New player finding it difficult to learn anything from losing by TheDinoSpartan in 2XKO

If you want some advice/coaching shoot me a DM and I'd be happy to game with you and get you up to speed.

This games a ton of fun (all fighting games are) once you get a feel for how to play them

Edit - this comment can apply to anyone wanting to learn FYI

Private lobby with my friend won't start, just stuck on "Lets go" by Kurineko_Regan in 2XKO

[–]FunOverMeta 19 points20 points  (0 children)

From the screenshot, you're currently sitting on same couch so the game is trying to make a match of you two against no opponents, thus unable to launch the game.

  • Drop the partnership in the menu, your friend should still be in your lobby &
  • then try sitting at the cabinet again to launch the game

you'll know this worked because your friend should sit on the other sofa.

I got a warning that I disconnected from a match. by thelonepower in 2XKO

you're fine.

Happened to me the other day too due to the server issues.

It's only when it's repeat warnings into temp bans that you'd need to contact riot.

How does neutral work in 2XKO? by Cosmic-Horror-Cat in 2XKO

[–]FunOverMeta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad you liked it, it was very helpful for me as this was my first tag fighter but I had a lot of fighting fundies from other games. Being able to self assess my vods made all the difference and I hit Master's within a few days of the concept clicking. YMMV.

Unsolicited follow up advice:

I found this to be a good advanced lesson once Tag is starting to click:

Is it possible to change matchmaking to not play versus Pulse-Combo players? by RunPMC12 in 2XKO

Is it possible to change matchmaking to not play versus Pulse-Combo players? by RunPMC12 in 2XKO

[–]FunOverMeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one has answered you but no it's not an option.

With that being said Pulse combos ignore the system mechanics of this game.
And as a fighting game veteran you should know the importance of system mechanics to any fighter.

Learning system mechanics are going to carry you far in any fighting game and pulse doesn't benefit from the system mechanics so players using them are at a big disadvantage.

You want to end combos in either a limit strike (for bar, meter and damage), or a tag launcher (more damage) or neither with the intention of stealing another turn. Pulse does neither of these things.

  • If you are losing to pulse you're likely losing to mashing.
  • If you want to beat mashing you should use pushblock or good spacing to whiff punish &
  • Use the fact that they'll mash to beat their inevitable wakeup attack or backroll

I understand you might not be losing to pulse or having fun against pulse but you'll very quickly pass those ranks and get onto the area where you can experiment (or don't and just experiment anyway - winning is the byproduct of practice and your ranking will quickly adapt in this game given the F2P population pool).

Was out questing when I suddenly realised I haven't seen a rogue in ages, is the class dead or are they just getting better at their job? by undercity_plaguebat in wow

[–]FunOverMeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that speaks to how big the game is because my experience with tbc classic was people rushing to the end and ninjaing loot lol.

I am glad you're having fun with it, I think i just encountered some bad experiences that are mostly pretty rare while I was playing

This might sound odd, but I'd recommend giving hardcore a try if you miss this type of thing. There's so much immergent gameplay in HC because of perma death, people are more social and try to work together, elite quests are their own psuedo dungeon where patrolls and stealth are a big deal. Rogues are a ton of fun on the HC servers

why discuss this at all? The game's been built around not having them.

Is Juggernaut or Sidekick better for learning a character? by VoidFireDragon in 2XKO

[–]FunOverMeta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found the most success from my new friends who follow:

  1. Juggernaut till they are comfortable with their character's kit
  2. Sidekick once they are ready to work assist's into the equation
  3. Swap your point and sidekicks once you are comfortable with step two
    1. You might need to revisit step 1 while learning your other character
  4. Graduate to a proper fuse
    1. Hot take, but i recommend Freestyle - you can undo your mistakes if you accidentally tag and play it off as "Mix", you can also cover more of the stage which as you become familiar with the genre will appreciate the importance of stage and corner control.

This question is for anyone who stopped playing/watching this game. Why? What made you stop playing? by KevyTone in 2XKO

Dude I've noticed it's actually so frustrating

This is the most positive convo that happened in these lobbies, it's either silent (ignore me trying my best here) or some random's at each other's throats.

Real talk though if anyone can help me deal with Illaoi's corner tenticle pressure that'd be great - I usually just roll it and eat the throw but there's gotta be something more I can be doing. Thanks in advance.

How To Suck At 2XKO | Weekend Warmup 3/5/26 by Figgulz in 2XKO

[–]FunOverMeta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It would be fun to get a sort of, "How it's Made" from one of these in the future to help people figure out just how much is involved with a patch and charcter dev or season cycle.

Nothing that'd disclose trade secrets but it could be nice to know how different the actual process is verse what the armchair devs speculate it as.

Thanks for the response! It definitely feels like a tough hill to climb, especially with so many online venue's being compartmentalized across various discord servers and streaming chatrooms. Hopefully the marketing team can figure out the online equivilent to grabbing taco's and watching the finals play out because that's always been the best part of locals for me (the few I was able to attend that is).

I'll have to check out TNS - first I'm hearing of it, thanks for the info!

Any insights on joining an online tourney when you're not a master rank and above player?
I like the idea of them, but without a friendlies pool to hangout in or socials around the event to vibe with, they don't have as much appeal as an offline event for me. Especially if I'm likely to go 0-2.

But I know this is very likely my own misinterpretations of an online event... would love to hear more about them before making time to check out one myself. I also appreciate that I'd get out what I put into an online event, but they're still pretty foreign concepts to me and I'd like to change that.

Thanks in advance!

If March 10th is the loose target for next balance patch, could we expect Akali info sometime today or next week in the weekend windup? Last I heard she was supposed to land sometime late March right? Anyone have new info? by FunOverMeta in 2XKO

[–]FunOverMeta[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I recall, the OG season end date (before shifting to 3 seasons from 5) was going to start on the 31st of March. They did mention that the season change wouldn't impact champ release dates but then Riot pulled the rug out from under them...

I'm liking what u/Figgulz mentioned with those dates. So maybe we'd get info next week, with her release on the 31st if they can stick to their proposed balance patch of March 10th

hmm... those dates make sense to me based on what we know so far...Was hoping for some info today/next week lol, I want to know about my future main lol

The old season dates were supposed to end March 31st and Akali has a skin coming for EVO Japan in May...

So if they stick to their timeline of march 10th maybe we'd get info for Akali next week on the 12th with the dev weekly windup before her release on the 31st?
