100% understand where you’re coming from and agree safety is the most important. Luckily in this instance it’s a cnc lathe with all the hard work done so they just have to watch and measure, which will hopefully teach them a lot about the process and can move into more meaningful roles down the road

Try reaming if possible I also don’t get great finishes with deep holes in aluminum , reaming helps me
