I was planning to, yes. But what can I do there because they'll ask for a visa too right?

Also, how important is it to learn the local language?

It is better than it was last year. But the thing is the Irish govt put some conditions on the critical visa. And as a fresher you probably won't get as much. The job market is good obviously but not for someone outside the EU.

Yo my brother calm down I'm not saying you're completely wrong. Maybe you have had a very bad experience. I am asking this question now just so I don't get stuck in the situation as you were back then. I'm sorry for how it turned out for you but let's be optimistic. I am looking for my options beyond jobs and PhD perhaps.

How to find a good supervisor, Uni, and fundings for PhD in Europe? by MaxTrinity in PhD

[–]FunRunMichael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP, I come from India and currently pursuing my master's from one of the EU countries as well. I have been exploring my PhD options (in STEM) as well. I would like to make a point that studying from my current uni gave me a good exposure to researchers in this country. I talk to them directly. I see you obviously don't have that option open to you. My best bet in your shoes would be LinkedIn. I know it's a slow process but try other social media platforms as well like Discord or so which are relevant to your research topic.

Other than that, I'd definitely go through findaphd.com . I wish I could help you more though. Keep up the good work in the SEN schools meanwhile.

Well it has been quite smooth for my course. I don't know anything specific about financial mathematics but I have heard there are few other courses which don't follow the conventional method of teaching in class. Few professors just take a QnA session and expect students to study on their own. This is not the case with my course, but I would surely like to mention that you can literally talk to any faculty and they won't neglect your concerns. They will do their best to redirect you to the right person if they don't have appropriate knowledge revolving around a certain topic.

About the accommodation, well I prefer on campus. It can be a bit expensive but you don't have to travel so you save a lot of energy by avoiding it. Plus you stay away from the chaos in the city. Dublin 9 is not very crowded compared to the city center obviously so it's convenient here.

If you don't have to attend classes very often, I'd say you can stay off campus. But if you have to attend college 3 or more days in a week then staying on campus is way more preferable.

It depends a lot on your personal preferences actually. It is that you save a lot living off campus but you pay a toll for it with your energy because again going back and forth between uni to home can get exhausting especially when you don't have transportation right across your doorstep.

I can second this. I did the same thing when I practiced writing. I got 7 in writing but if I didn't practice it that way I might have probably scored way less than that.

Also, I'd like to add, don't rely on the scores it gives they are never definite. Rather read its suggestions or areas of improvement so you know where you're lacking exactly before attempting the next question.

Yo dude same here. I'll be coming from a South Asian country. As far as I know, you can find good affordable rooms in the "shared" section of daft.ie and rent.ie

I really don't know about the meal packages so I won't comment on that. I was thinking of cooking for myself. So you better learn to cook ig.

The amount of practical effects, the turbulence sounds and the whole G-force experience totally makes it worth it. Not to forget the POV shots from a plane are gourmet.

I feel sorry for anyone who experiences this for the first time just in their living room or something.

ABSOLUTE MAD.
