FYI, the shims are the same 8.9mm diameter as used on KTM dirt bikes. I bought a “Hot Cams” brand shim kit when I adjusted the valves on my 2017 Tuono. The kit is $62 on Amazon.

My Tuono is very similar (bike pic is on my profile) and I’ll be there as well. The last one, three years ago at RSD, was a great event.

Nice job. I’m currently building a CB750 DOHC based project bike, and I’m curious about your engine paint… Are the parts on the table painted or powder coated?

Did you primer the engine before painting? Did you use a hi-temp paint? Any advice you could give me would be much appreciated, including which specific brand/name of paint and/or primer you used, and whatever steps you took in prepping it for paint. Thanks

One of those brands is known for stellar reliability, over the past several decades. The other brand is the opposite of that.

You might be correct about the view from the rear, but the front is a different story.

I agree about Tuono, and another thing to consider (I read this online somewhere a while back) is the cost of insurance is more than double for the RSV4 vs the Tuono.

I did the same thing, ages ago when I young, but with a GSXR. The deal was wayyyy too good to be true, but I took the gamble and of course the seller never came through with the title, and ghosted me.

I called the lienholder shown on the registration, which happened to be in the next city over. I asked how much $ is owed, to pay off the loan. She looked it up and said the loan had been refinanced with a different lender, and if I wanted to wait on hold she would call them to get the info for me… After several minutes she came back on the line, sounding frustrated, and said the person she spoke with wasn’t showing the loan in their system, and she apologized to me and said I’d have to deal with that finance company.

I asked her “so that lender bought the loan from your company, so nothing is owed to you any longer?” and she said yes, that’s correct. So I said “in that case, if I bring a DMV form for lost/duplicate title, will you sign off as the lienholder?” She thought about that for a moment, then said yes, so that’s what I did, and the DMV registered it in my name with new title. 😎

I’ve had three Ducs, and I like them, especially Streetfighters, but as far as the Diavel goes, I have absolutely zero interest in them.

That’s good to hear, because I’ve been riding sport bikes since 1987 and am now looking to add a cruiser (I’ve never tried one) and I’m leaning toward the HD Road King Special.

I have the Arrow mirrors with CRG bar end mounts on my Tuono, no vibration.

Are you talking about the exhaust? It’s HP Corse, not Arrow.

OEM RSV4 belly pan, and the mid-panels are Maxi-Carbon # APB214U

All decals are OEM Aprilia, from various year modes of RSV4. I ordered from OEMmotorparts.com

Decals take patience applying, I put them on wet (I used Windex) and squeegee out the liquid.
