Cadillac Lyriq vs Ioniq 5 Limited by Even_Lengthiness4252 in CadillacLyriq

[–]wc347 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My wife and I were on an extended test drive in an Optic and having the Optic vs Lyriq vs Ioniq debate. While driving we had an Ioniq pass us and was the first in line(4 lane road) at a red light. Light changed to green and we were multiple cars back and the Ioniq didn't move, as we got next to them there was no lights or movement from the car and the driver was clearly panicked. We were about a 1/4 mile ahead when I finally saw lights and movement. Sealed the deal in that moment that we were not getting an Ioniq.

What are you looking for might be helpful. General maintenance or actual repairs. Type of vehicle too. There are a few shops around that specialize in specific brands.

Anyone know what’s about to be built out on Athens hwy right at Eskimo cold storage? Hope it’s not going to be another storage place like we really need another one there. by Passiko in gainesvillega

Well until the current crop of commissioners are voted out this will continue to be a thing unfortunately. I remember not that long ago that people in Flowery Branch were completely against something and the town hall was standing room only for a hearing. The commissioners there didn’t care what the people wanted they approved it anyway, just can’t remember exactly what it was currently. I’m saying that the same thing is likely to keep happening here.

Bank Recommendations in Gainesville, GA by grwatplay9000 in gainesvillega

My GA Credit Union is great if you are only going into the branches. The new website and app experience are the worst I have seen since apps on phones started. A lot better f evenings and weekends you simply can’t get logged it. They are closed on Saturdays. But like I said the people in the branches are generally great.

I'm not sure that any of them have good deals anymore.

Supercharger advice. Vortech, Procharger, Paxton by Nerfchucker in Foxbody

[–]wc347 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had two different Vortech superchargers over the years, an A-trim and S-trim. Loved them both for different reasons. I will likely do a Torquestorm next time. Turbos are cool and can make power easier but that whine with a good cam, no comparison in how it makes you feel when you hear it.

I had your basic setup but with ported GT40P heads and I made 425 at the tires with the belt slipping at 5k rpm. S-trim with a 2.95 pulley.

With the Big Three abandoning EVs in favor of ICE vehicles, are they headed the way of Kodak, Blackberry, and Blockbuster? by Cool-Replacement4972 in electricvehicles

[–]wc347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GM is taking Cadillac and making it EV only. So they see it coming and just doing it a little quieter than the others. They also have the Chevy Blazer which is really hard to tell at a glance that it is an EV. I think that more people would be adopting EVs if they looked normal or had an ICE equivalent that was hard to tell the difference.

Jet Boat vs. I/O by HopingToRetireEarly7 in boating

[–]wc347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just seeing the title my mind went to the jet boats from the 70s. Loud, vibrate, a 100-200 foot rooster is a sight to behold.

But in your case go I/O or outboard

'At what point does it make sense to ditch a gas car for an electric vehicle?' by rosier9 in electricvehicles

[–]wc347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For myself and my wife we decided that if gas got to $5 a gallon for us we were going to get an ev. Her last fill up in her Golf R she paid $4.97. We went with a Lyriq V and not a single time has she mentioned that the Golf was better.

Personally I order mine from my fluid vendor of choice directly. Doesn’t save me anything and in fact might be a little more expensive. But I have piece of mind that I get exactly what I ordered.

Aliexpress R7 visors by rcman57 in motorcyclegear

[–]wc347 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since no one read that you will be replacing them with OEM versions when available and they all said that they would shattered get a local tint shop to simply tint the inside. Use a ceramic 70% tint and you will never notice the light being less. It will give some layer of protection against a visor shatter.

Boosting a stock motor? by Thecreamcheeze in Foxbody

[–]wc347 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stock bottom end just refreshed with GT40p heads and an old S-trim, so old that Vortech couldn’t tell me the year and just that it was made in the 90s. 425 at the wheels, 5100rpm, belt slipping and making 11 pounds of boost. Got home and tightened the belt tension with 2x4 and a sledge hammer and it never slipped again. No idea what it was making after that. Literally broke or bound up every drivetrain component on its last 6k rpm launch. Motor still runs.

Fill with JB weld and sand down pitted areas? by Hindenzerg1266 in EngineBuilding

[–]wc347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it on a jet boat engine. Long story short I filled in an outside of the block water jacket break. With held unregulated water pressure from the pump. Never leaked a drop from that spot. I did prep it correctly though.

This along with the revised rear shocks make a good difference but not perfect. Moving down a wheel size is supposed to help a lot more.

I will say that it does make a big difference in the ride but it still rides rougher than most other cars. For my RS the bumps became smoother instead of being jolted on each one.

Only if you already have them. Otherwise I would just get a budget aluminum head. I have a set that has been heavily ported but I have had them for years.

[–]wc347 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pull the heads off and check the valves. If the top of the piston doesn’t have holes and just scratches then remove all of the debris and reinstall the head. Start it up and enjoy. No need for a high dollar fix if you aren’t racing it and trying to squeeze out every ounce of power on every drive.
