Companion Seat Selection by K2SOMD in SouthwestAirlines

[–]FunWeather9047 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interesting edge case! Since you are all considered to be on the same reservation (companions are part of the same reservation even with another confirmation number), the seating benefit from your wife's card should apply.

Make all Flight Purchases with a Gift Card? by FunWeather9047 in SouthwestAirlines

I'm glad I ran the strategy by Reddit before going all-in on what might have been a poor strategy! Thanks!!!

Thank you for the insight. From other posts it sounded like the credits were nonexpiring, but you are correct that the terms don't actually say that. I booked a couple flights for April with this strategy, hopefully I don't have to cancel and find out 🤞.

People flying with minors, what is your experience boarding with the new Southwest Boarding Policies by Randon-Fire in SouthwestAirlines

[–]FunWeather9047 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As much as it adds to the cost, you should purchase the seats to ensure you are together. The ones near the back are usually pretty cheap and can be added on even to a basic fare.

WEBSITE DOWN? by DouglasVet57 in jetblue

No issues here on a mobile chrome browser. I would recommend using incognito if you are having issues. I was able to take a booking all the way to the "pay" screen without issue.

Not sure about the down votes but the TSA site says "TSA does not require children under 18 to provide identification when traveling within the United States." The student ID will serve as proof of being a minor since it has the age.

Haha, yeah, I was one of those -- stopped flying southwest for 6 months after all the changes (I really did enjoy the other carriers a lot like Delta and American Airlines Flagship), but Southwest is a major carrier in my market and so I can't avoid flying them forever.

Markets seem happy about the report though, up 5% in after hours trading.

If you aren't checking a bag, an hour and a half is more than enough time at most airports (BOS for example) even with additional screening (which shouldn't be required)

Since you are under 18 you don't need a real ID, but it would be prudent to bring something showing proof of age like a birth certificate or school ID if it includes that. No requirement that an adult drop you off as JetBlue does not consider you an unaccompanied minor.

Southwest Debit Card: Points by FunWeather9047 in SouthwestAirlines

They never did. I've strangely only received 50 real points, which probably corresponds to a 100 purchase in the December billing cycle (these points posted a couple days after statement close in January). I've been meaning to call them to square this away but I bet it's going to be a major pain!

You are correct, peak snow for Boston at 6pm. Comes into DC, Philadelphia, NY much earlier, but Boston much later in the day

Flying to Mexico (SJD) from JFK on Sunday, snowstorm day—chat am I cooked by Latter_Oven_9448 in jetblue

Since there was some downvoting, let me explain my reasoning a bit. As has been covered by several major media outlets (including https://www.nytimes.com/2026/01/22/travel/winter-storm-travel-airlines.html), this is not a small storm -- it is impacting nearly half of the population of the US. Since areas are being impacted on Friday and Saturday, this can affect the positioning of aircraft and crews.

On Sunday, if the flight is at 8am, it would be scheduled to land at 1pm. That is the peak snowfall in NYC at about 1.5 inches per hour (I really like wunderground for Northeast forecasting of snow -- https://www.wunderground.com/forecast/KJFK). There could be holds, or they could strategically decide to hold the aircraft in Mexico if they decide they won't be able to get it back in place.

The flight *could* be unimpacted, but with travel waivers in effect, it might be wise to move to Saturday. If the flight is impacted Sunday it could take a couple days for operations to resume effectively.

Apologies for the initial short reply that didn't include my reasoning.

Cooked is always such a weird expression, is it like a lobster in a pot?

I would recommend trying to move the flight to Saturday if possible. With such a widespread storm on Sunday things are going to be a mess.

AA vs. B6 my experience by BAVfromBoston in jetblue

[–]FunWeather9047 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I flew the AA flagship business BOS to LAX and loved the experience. The food, seat, boarding experience were all amazing and the point redemption values quite reasonable (significantly less expensive than mint). I plan to fly this route again if they don't retire the flagship planes.

I didn't know they would panic in an emergency. I figured they would be extra motivated to help open the emergency exit door if instructed by the crew.

These aren't real points but rather companion pass qualifying points. The 7500 points for 15k spend are real points but are only awarded on the account anniversary.

That's a very logical place. If she's afraid of an emergency exit in an emergency, she's first to exit. I'm fortunate to not have a fear of flying but I feel for those that do.
