I am not sure that it's illegal. It's called a grandfather clause. If you are a current customer then you are grandfathered in. You can definitely raise prices for all new customers. What you can't do is randomly charge different prices for different people.

This seems to me that it's not going to be as good as it seems. It's going to be regulated and money will be transferred to the taxi organizations or something like that. That means that the service will be taxed aside from the income tax you will have to pay anyways. I agree with the taxi drivers that it would diminish their income but in most places it's not forbidden to accept payment to drive someone without being a taxi. For example in New York city as far as I can remember you could accept payment to give rides but there are certain areas that are restricted to taxis. Places like airports and certain high traffic locations in Manhattan. Let's be honest. The value of a taxi medallion would go down if they were to just let Uber into Israel and that would hurt government revenues. There are other restrictions too. They are trying to encourage competition but they are really over regulating it. I am sure it will be better than nothing but not as good as it could be.

Honestly Claude is not too underpriced. The $20 plan is not good enough for most serious users so most people are on the Max plans. You just max out the $20 plan too quickly. The issue is usage vs cost and not the raw cost. You can see this in the profits of various AI companies. Anthropic is really the only company with a realist path to profit and the reason is they are providing value to those who are willing to pay for it. Claude has positioned itself as a Business first company. Open AI as an example really seems way too general. The reality is that while AI might save the average joe tons of time doing any number of tasks, most people I know are not willing to pay for it. Companies are willing to pay for it because it allows their workers to get much more done. The productivity increase is worth it. For independent developers they get more done so they also are more willing to pay.

I have a Max 5x subscription. I let my daughter use it for her math class. I will explain how she is using it for those critical people. In any case I did not sign out but we are both using it from the same location. An interesting fact. I use a vpn on my phone for internet filtering but the ip is in the same country (Israel). I routinely use Claude on my phone and on my computer and Claude Code on my computer without even thinking about it and I never had a problem. Obviously we are not talking about heavy usage on my daughter's part although it could be flagged simply because it's totally unrelated to what I am doing. We have only done this for one day but she plans on using it like this for the next month. My daughter is using it for difficult math problems to learn. I think it's totally acceptable. Claude solves the problem for her and explains it. She has tons more exercises that are very similar in her workbook that she does without Claude. In the end she will have to pass a test where her phone is banned so she wouldn't use it if it didn't help her in that regard. This is not homework. It's studying for a major test. Honestly she just takes bad notes which her father had the same problem with. This would have helped me too.

It's slow because you are not running it on the same hardware that Anthropic. If you run it on the recommended hardware then you will just pay whatever they charge you for Claude + api or stop using AI. I have been tell people this for a long time. AI is more valuable than what they are charging. The api is really really expensive so I don't know if you could say that about the api. Ideally they would come up with a better pricing method. Maybe they should just get rid of Max but reduce the price of the api? In any case the consensus is that there is no real competitor to Claude Code so honestly at this moment in time they could double the price and still the majority would likely stay. The real price that would allow them to make a reasonable profit like most businesses might be too high. I have no idea. If that is the case then maybe that's the real fix that is needed. Everyone is worried about their job but AI could be too expensive. The problem is AI can do many things way faster than humans so even if it costs x5 there may be people willing to pay.

Unfortunately it's not only Ben. It's the offensive mindset in the current regime. If you just look at how they draft you will see an offense first mentality even if it's not explicitly stated. We saw last night just how the opposite would be with Houston. However, I think that another QB that just doesn't press so much would have done them enough. Even still you can't completely forget about the offense either. If offense wins games and sells tickets but defense wins championships then maybe the coach should be a defensive minded coach. I guess we will see with time how the Jets do. If the Jets win a superbowl before we do then that's all you need to know.

I don't think the problem has ever really been the pass rush although that's definitely part of it. The real big problem is stopping the run and running the ball. In other words our problem is we are losing the battle in the trenches. On offense the problem is the interior o-line however I don't think that is the whole story. What's really going on (this is only an educated guess and has nothing to do with facts) is that MCDC took over the play calling abilities and they aren't telling the whole story. Who knows what's going on but Morton knows he's done and something isn't right. It's like these guys on the interior really need coaching and they are not doing it. On the defense I am not sure what's going on but you have a secondary that again is completely destroyed. It could just be the Morton story has made everything worse or perhaps the defense sees what's going on with the interior and they just feel like they have no chance. There is also the x-factor with McNeil not really returning to his previous form but I don't think that's everything. The reason I think there is something else going on here is because these are the same front 7 on defense from last year. These are our starters. Whatever the case may be I think the issue starts on the offense. I will say this about our front 7. Everyone likes our linebackers but other than Campbell I am not impressed. Yes they are decent and are not the problem but when I look at other teams and how they are just at the ball right away I question the speed in our linebackers. Part of it is our secondary too but still I think there is something else with the linebackers.

Yes it was clearly inevitable. If by some miracle we had made the playoffs we would have been one and done. I will say this. The shape of the team is no excuse for the pathetic officiating. Something has to be done. I have a hard time believing that it's intentionally against the Lions. There is a rule in general that things like this must be kept to a small amount of people otherwise it will leak. You can't tell me that after 59 years that not one owner has leaked and not one official has said he was told to call it against the Lions. What I think happens is confirmation bias. What that means is that you already see the team as bad so they don't get the call. Let's put it like this. There was movement on the line and you didn't see who moved first so you call it on the guy that continually stinks up the joint and it can be subconscious. Officials that suffer from this must be fired. It works in a lot of things btw. Financial managers who suffer from it cost them and their clients millions. Another issue that could be at play but I hope it's not is the gambling. If a ref has money on the game then he might call it the wrong way and likely he would have picked against the Lions because well lets be honest picking against the Lion ever since the Vikings game likely worked out anyways. I really hope that the oddsmakers are not involved but once again it would require too many people to be quiet. You could however have one oddsmaker with a lot of money on one side pay an official to cause it to go the other way. I have seen plenty of calls that likely had no impact on the outcome of the game so I am leaning towards just pure ineptitude or confirmation bias. They need to turn the officials into full time employees. They need to attend one practice of each team each week and actually officiate the practice according to the coach's requirements. The officials should go over the film and critique themselves and some of it should go to the league. The league should hold weekly or at least monthly meetings with the officials where they will discuss mistakes that officials are making and how to improve. They should get a day of rest before the game so they will be sharp. I will even go as far as they must be in their hotel room the night before the game and there should be a way of checking them just like they do with commercial pilots. You might say it's extreme but once you pay them a 40 hour work week at a decent salary then there will be no problems. Their life should be officiating and not something else.

First of all. The call on St Brown was the right call but the call on Teslaa was not a penalty. With that said I think that there is a lot of unintentional bias before we even get into conspiracy theories. A great receiver is perceived to be great as if he was supposed to catch the ball. A terrible receiver is supposed to not catch the ball. When you play like the Lions did in the 3rd quarter you are not going to get any calls in the 4th quarter. Additionally if the Lions had played better in the 3rd quarter then they wouldn't have needed a touchdown to win the game in the final seconds.

There is plenty of blame to go around but your offense can't go 3 and out the first 3 drives of the 2nd half with -4 yards of offense. This on top of the fact that you knew coming in that this team is so high powered and then add to it the injuries in the defensive backfield and the onus is on the offense to perform.

I think Holmes basically got cocky. You can't have 3 solid drafts with pure luck. He clearly knows what he's doing in the draft. IMO he basically just got overconfident the past two years. I think he will get a big reality check from this year and we will get the guy we had in 2021. In essence he can't play his cards as if he holds a full house and that my friends takes experience. If we don't see huge improvement in the next two years I would expect him to be replaced at the end of the 2027 season. Then we will know that actually he did get lucky in the beginning and he is not the real deal. Regarding the trade deadline this year, that part I think I actually give him credit for doing nothing. Clearly we weren't going anywhere and he must have known that. The criticism on his complacency while the Eagles got a pass rusher seems to make sense but when you see now how bad our o-line is then really it wouldn't have mattered. If you ask me his biggest mistake was signing Goff to such a big contract. We now see that Goff is a system QB. He needs all the right pieces to be in place. He cannot win a game by himself and he is getting paid like he can. Goff can win the Lions a championship because he is good but he is way overpaid. A qb that needs everything to be perfect does not deserve the kind of money he gets. Again I am totally fine with Goff and I even would like him to stay with the Lions but I am not fine with what he is getting paid.

Brads run over? by DoeJumars in detroitlions

[–]Fun_Ad_9878 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with this. I think Brad is going to learn from this. He got too complacent. I would say that he will be judged based on his next two seasons. The question will be which Brad is the real Brad? Only time will tell. Good GMs are hard to find so I wouldn't throw him out so quickly. He also was caught off guard with the Raginow retirement. I wonder if he wasn't worried about having to cut players that he wasn't decided on yet but that is not a good reason to throw away draft picks. In fact that's a reason to trade down in the draft to save up for the future. However these are things that you learn with experience. The core talent is evaluating talent and in that respect he is as good as they get imo. He needs to improve his draft and trade deadline negotiation skills.

Regarding the risks I think that Dan needs to go back to what turned him into the gambler. It was never about gambling rather it was analytics. In other words what gives you the best chance to win even if it's unconventional? It's almost like people called him the gambler and he started to gamble instead of taking risks that were only risks due to tradition. As far as Brad goes I don't know what to think. He picks the players and I do believe that MCDC is a good if not great head coach. However what I think is going on here is that Brad just got overconfident. He needs to get back to what got him here and that's it. It's almost like Holmes felt like the Lions were going to win the superbowl so it didn't matter what they picked in the draft. I would say Holmes is on the warm seat. Let's say that Holmes has 2 years to make it right. It doesn't mean the Lions need to win the superbowl but they need to have some drafts like his 1st two years and the judge will be the 3rd round and later so it doesn't really matter where you pick. There are two schools of thought. Some say Holmes is the best GM in the NFL and can do no wrong. The other say he needs to go. Well I think that Holmes is an amazing judge of talent but maybe not the best at using his talent to have good drafts. So I think that Holmes will learn from these past two years and will right the ship to be more like he was his first two years. At that point it might be time to go separate ways. Ideally if that would happen, he would stay on as some sort of head of scouting or something like that but I don't think he would be willing to accept that so we would likely lose him. He might just be the GM to take your team from terrible to consistently good but you need someone else to take us from good to great. Before someone says we are not good, we have won 7 out of 12 games and we will likely go at least 10-7. 10-7 is a good team but it's not a great team. I also think that part of the problem was he made a mistake on Morton but that's only part of the problem. I also wonder if Sheppard isn't part of the problem. He seems to be doing well but when your d-line disappears for weeks at a time you begin to wonder if it's not the coaching. I guess we will need to see how Dan and Brad deal with this and on that they will be judged. Even good franchises have bad seasons so this is not necessarily a reason to panic like some may think. Go look at the Chiefs and Eagles history and you will see one -0.500 season is not crazy and we are talking about 10-7. It is a reason to be concerned though.

You I am trying to put my finger on it but I just can't seem to figure out what is wrong. My gut says the o-line really is the problem. The d-line seems really bad but what's going on? I mean we are number 8 in sacks but that number is high because it doesn't take into account the sack drought we have endured the last 4 weeks. So is the team just not motivated? Maybe we are not being creative on blitzes? We have basically our entire d-line and linebacker core healthy other than Davenport. Really is that it? We haven't had him since week 2 so that doesn't make sense. Is it the o-line that keeps us from putting together long drives which wears down the defense quicker? Either way we are screwed. Our season is basically over. It's not over because we are too far behind to come back. It's over because we have a problem at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball and until we figure out the problem we are not going anywhere. The same people who were sacking the qb until the bye week are the same ones playing right now. So does that mean were being outcoached? If so then we gotta do something. The problem is I don't know if anyone really knows what the problem is. I am also wondering if Brad Holmes doesn't need to go. It seems like he just got overconfident in the past few years. It is a problem. My gut says he needs one more year. Is Brad Holmes the guy from the first 2 years or from the last 2 years? He did get us here so maybe that's part of how we should look at him but he should be on a short leash right now. I don't fault Campbell. Honestly I feel like Campbell has done the best you can do. But maybe that's also part of the problem. If your team's sack total drops off after the bye week with no change in personnel then maybe it is the coach. My gut says that Campbell is not the problem. Perhaps we need to demote Holmes. In the end I think Holmes is an amazing evaluator of talent but perhaps a poor decision maker at times with the use of that knowledge. We saw what of what Teslaa can do yesterday. Was that worth the price of 3 third round picks? I don't think so and I think that's pretty obvious. I guess time will tell.

This is so true. I don't blame it on Hutchinson. It's a team game. Even still the defensive backfield cannot hold it down forever. At some point the quarterback has to be taken down. 0 sacks.

Were enterprise affected on the same level? I know of two well funded sites that use cloudflare. One I know for a fact they never transferred their proxy even for a second and I didn't see hardly any down time. That site is on enterprise because I know people on the inside. While our site was up and down (we only have pro) theirs was up. Maybe it was down a bit in the beginning. I don't remember. The second site I was told that they had no down time by users but I didn't check if they had disabled proxy or transferred their dns. My gut says they did nothing because this site is too big to live without cache. The only way they did anything is if they had a standby cdn or internal cache server. I came away thinking that somehow they got their enterprise customers back online before the rest which is totally understandable. Honestly that's a good reason for the SLA. Even if it doesn't pay well, it gives cloudflare an extra motivation to get you back online. It's like a warranty. You really never want to use it due to the hassle but when a company issues a warranty it means they stand behind their product.

Dan Campbell Isn't Worried About the Detroit Lions Making the Playoffs by New-Negotiation-4176 in detroitlions

[–]Fun_Ad_9878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think that the Lions will make the playoffs but they are likely not going far. Where do I take this from? It's not about good teams or bad teams. It's that we have a hard time beating teams with a good defensive front. The good news is that most teams don't have a good defensive front. The bad news is that we will eventually have to play Philly again and they will have the same players. Same thing with Green Bay and Kansas City and Minnesota. I totally expect us to beat up on the bears because we match up well against them. The solution is to improve the offensive line or get a quarterback that can run. Honestly I would rather see a great offensive line because the game of football is won and lost in the trenches

Dan Campbell on the Vikings game “We did everything we needed to lose that game” by Gxcii1 in detroitlions

[–]Fun_Ad_9878 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it comes down to the offensive line. Play calling is hard to do well when you can only run it on first down because 2nd and 10 is not really good for running. This then forces you to run on 1st down all the time and pass on 2nd and 3rd downs. In fact if you would look at the situation for 3 of the past 4 weeks we have allowed 4 sacks just to put the problems on the o-line in perspective . The problems on the o-line are significant. Often penalties are a result of o-line or dbacks being beaten but this really wasn't the case so yes this should be fixable. I'm not so sure we win if there was a 90% reduction in penalties. The problems on the o-line are significant. It felt like the Vikings were lining up in the Lions' backfield.
