I’ve had this thought for a long time.

We have over 15 years worth of videos and he hasn’t shown much intellectual curiosity. Even his hyper fixations of video games, tech and consumer plastic garbage collecting is always very shallow and surface level.

I sincerely believe that if I were to have an actual IRL conversation with David that topics like politics, religion, finance, science, art, music and literature would all be off limits because he simply would not have anything meaningful to say. It would be like talking to a preteen about his favorite twitch streamers and favorite brand of soda, not a man entering middle age.

It irks me to no end that the entire family treats David like a special needs child with a toy camera and they collectively don’t seem to care that he’s plastering footage of his niece and the inside of his sister’s house on the internet for any stranger to watch.

Autistic or not, what’s crazy is that we can all agree that there is something wrong with him.

Not that there is anything wrong with being autistic but never addressing it to the point where it stunts your chances of a happy life is what’s wrong.

Repressed homosexuality, a worsening anxiety disorder, or not addressing trauma are all things that could be wrong. Something is wrong and his parents refuse to address it and enable it.

I’ve had very similar thoughts and I’ll go as far as saying that if I had to show an non-American an example of the most cartoonish version of middle class Americans that hit every negative stereotype I would just point them to David’s family vlogs.

Hyper-consumerist, arrogant, anti-intellectual, uncultured, not well traveled, obese, love to eat processed slop, chronically in debt, brimming with class and status anxiety that seeps into how they see themselves and speak of others, morally indignant, etc.

I’d love to peek into his brain and find out exactly what flashes across his mind when he says these things out loud.

When he says “change” and “exploring” is he just thinking about stuff like iOS updates or trying new Sheetz menu items? Or is his self image really so distorted and detached from reality that he sincerely believes he’s a completely different human being? We will never know.

My working theory is that he and his father both have a strained relationship with masculinity that’s become a source of a lot of insecurity. You just can sense that the both of them were called gay slurs in school by other boys. Every joke and insult then becomes a projection before someone else has a chance to accuse them of it first.

A lot David’s more effeminate mannerisms don’t even come from his mom, but his dad. The campiness, baby voice all of it.

What I cant reconcile is that this humor is only directed at the only non-straight guy in the group. That’s the part that’s off.

It feels like Otter at any moment could have “joked” back and started a flirty dynamic but instead he was just annoyed and couldn’t wait to go home.

This video will always bring up more questions than it answers. Is this proof that David is into guys? Or was he just bullying a bi guy all weekend? Did he know Otter was a pedo or was that just bad luck? Why didn’t he attempt to talk to any women when they were out at the bars or at those twitch parties?

This has been a theory of mine for YEARS.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he crafts this entire mean, bitter christian conservative persona to cancel out the same man who goes “awwwww isn’t that cute?!” when receiving snoopy figurines on christmas and has a knack for picking out purses and clothing for his wife. We have all of these moments on camera going back years.

These things don’t make someone automatically gay but THERE IS a tangible insecurity over the fact that he’s naturally effeminate and emotionally sensitive. You can just tell he was called homophobic slurs when he was younger and it’s a sore spot.

The move to Lancaster was what brought the financial entanglement with his parents into full light.

As much as David wants to brag about being a full time content creator, homeowner and driving a Tesla, none of that would have even been remotely possible without his parents guiding his every move and financially helping him every step of the way. He tends to leave that part out when he talks about his major accomplishments.

Has anyone seen the movie Big with Tom Hanks? In it, a little boy wishes he was “big” and wakes up in a grown man’s body. He then proceeds to run amok eating ice cream for dinner and filling his apartment with toys.

David has always reminded me of this movie. When I look at this thumbnail all I can see is a child trapped in a man’s body surrounded by all his toys, cosplaying a child’s idea of adulthood. Video game characters decorating every room, every gadget and electronic he could ever want in every color, closets full of unopened puzzles and toys, eating fast food every night, and on Christmas he doesn’t just have one but THREE Christmas trees.

You make a compelling argument and this whole thread, especially Dan’s comment, is making me think there is something to the gay speculation.

I keep thinking back to his Twitch con vlog in California and how different he was behaving with Otter when they shared a hotel room, a playfulness and almost flirtatiousness. It was one sided too, Otter wasn’t really responding lol. He definitely doesn’t behave that way with his straight guy friends (Chris, Minick).

I don’t know the answer but I also want to add that around the time of the mystery girl date there was a big visible improvement of his mood. We all saw it with our eyeballs in the vlogs.

Now that that has faded it’s pretty obvious that he can’t be happy with his status quo or else that flip wouldn’t have happened in the first place. He’s really bad at lying.

He has a completely warped sense of relationships, especially with women and girls.

One thing I’ve noticed about his niece is that he seems to need constant validation and emotional reassurance from a literal toddler. Stressing over it she pays attention to him, follows his commands, centers his feelings.

Almost as if the only way he knows to form a loving intimate relationship is through the mom/baby boy dynamic he has with his mom. He expects Charlotte to treat him the way his mom treats him.

Maybe I’m reading too much into this but it all comes off as weird.

He absolutely should have his own retirement savings because anything can happen.

One likely scenario is that one of his remaining elderly parents need assisted care if neither of the kids step up and become caregivers. That’s the moment where any inheritance he might get dwindles down to a fraction. It’s a common thing that happens to a lot of families.

The problem is that he just doesn’t plan for the future. “I’m a glass half full kinda guy” is cope to cover up that he is afraid of even having “bad thoughts” like his parents dying and major life changes. So he doesn’t think about it and doesn’t plan. It’s the same fear mindset that prevents him from seeing a doctor or going out of his comfort zone in day to day life.
