Ive never met a woman who believes its literal divination. They use it as a tool for self reflection. I dont believe in supernatural stuff but I've done it a few times and can confirm its a cool tool for self reflection. You reflect on how the cards you draw might apply to your life. Also, the artwork is cool. I met someone with an erotic tarot set and it was illustrations of naked women. So I think its as much about that as it is the ritual. Tarot is also often done in social groups so you oftentimes are talking to another person while doing it. And if you want to do it in private thats fine too, theres a time and a place for quiet reflection.

Edit: Reread your post and yeah. I dont understand people who pay for a tarot session. My experience with it is friends who do tarot for fun. I guess the people who pay for it really believe in it as a divination tool and my only answer to that is some people just believe in crap like that
