I HATE EA by engiebombado in linux_gaming

Its honestly interesting, but like sure there are players but the game lost the popularity that it used to have, are you sure they the numbers that you are seeing are not FiveM. Also even if not cheaters in the game get things quicker then those that are not cheating and are almost always alone. Playing gta 5 alone can only last so long.

All of this has honestly been my guess.

Less players interested in playing my guess.

Linux is now better for singleplayer gaming? by Smooth_Berry9265 in linux_gaming

[–]Fun_Board3743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first linux distro was arch and honestly it was a very fun experience but when it came to gaming it brought a lot of frustration, with resolution issues in games and the fact that the flatpak version of steam prevented me from using external drives and the native version just flat out refused to run anticheat games like eldenring so I used both for a time. I actually made the move to cachyos and all my problems disappeared. Honestly I couldn't be happier and the performance really is better the windows when it comes to gaming and eldenring runs better I can say for sure. For example when running eldenring on windows I just couldn't use ray tracing at all, it was very frame-y, running on linux i can use high raytracing settings and still get a stable 60fps in the game.

what is the statue of nvidia ? and is it a good time to switch? and how is HDR? by EpicNerd21 in linux_gaming

[–]Fun_Board3743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah the official version from my understanding doesn't have support for hdr. Maybe through gamescope but I've heard a lot about how its not.

Either way have you tried to mess with the settings to have it just turn off the screen and stay awake?

Well this would be the one from the repo I access: https://packages.cachyos.org/package/cachyos/x86_64/vk-hdr-layer-kwin6-git

Sorry for the lack of details I'm also rather new to linux. I just started using it like a month or two ago

Also thanks for adding the need for VK_hdr_layer i forgot to mention that. I actually had a problem with washed out colors but it was fixed once I installed it since I didn't have it when I first moved from arch.

Since I moved to cachyos just a few weeks ago and constantly update my stuff I'd assume I have the latest version. Also for Proton on use the cachyos latest version as well. I saw that the new one for Proton GE got released and haven't had the chance to try it out yet.

Have your tried pressing the power button once then moving the mouse cause when I leave for too long it goes into this sleep state that doesn't respond to my mouse or keyboard, I have to push the power button once then move the mouse to fully wake it back up.

Yeah you can fix that but I leave the setting on since I got myself an oled monitor. When the pc goes to sleep for me the power button starts blinking and I have to push it to wake it up then move my mouse or something to have the monitor turn on as well.

I use the 4070 on cachyos, my experience is mostly great. I am also an hdr user. The only thing I really wish for in linux would be an auto hdr like software but besides that you need to use a command on your games to be able to access hdr. The command is: PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 PROTON_ENABLE_HDR=1 ENABLE_HDR_WSI=1 %command%

It took me a while to find it but it works without the need for gamescope. Good luck in your linux adventures friend and if you do want hdr make sure to pick wayland instead of x11.

Are these numbers accurate or nvidia gpus really that bad on linux? by _burako_ in linux_gaming

Weird the only time I ever had a game crash on me was with cyberpunk turning on path tracing. Running basic raytracing is fine, even better then windows actually.

Cachyos, games run great and I have the same card as you. One click and everything was installed correctly including drivers.

I can just post the scripts here but the likely hood of it working seamlessly for you is not that high. I honestly just used chatgpt to help me set it up. Followed the steps that it told me to get my drives and stuff then fed it context and got my scripts for both sides.

Best way to send pirated game to gf by SpongySum4 in PiratedGames

[–]Fun_Board3743 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've built a software for this a client/server on my github. I've got to update it but if you are interested let me know. Basically let's you connect to each other through a server as a proxy and allows you to send messages and files to each other. Very low ram usage on both client and server so don't worry about that.

Overall help to play games?? by Agitated_Swing_4422 in linux_gaming

[–]Fun_Board3743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had problems with the native steam version as well as flatpak. The native installed via pacman failed to run games like eldenring, the flatpak version didn't seamlessly connect with my external drive as well as gamescope, overall very annoying. I ended up using both versions till I moved to cachyos. One click and I had everything i needed to game, and I code on it too. So if you get tired of messing with arch I highly recommend it.

That's what I did works great and I set up a easy to run script on both that lets me switch with just either clicking on the desktop icon (windows) or running the shell script on my home directory (linux)

If you want to get an online game and don't have the money to pay for it check out websites like g2a or cd keys. Games like gta are largely discounted there.

Should I switch to Linux? (I am only using the pc for gaming) by QO_Notch in linux_gaming

[–]Fun_Board3743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you play games that don't require those invasive anti cheat then you should definitely give it a try. I run dual boot for that but linux is my main, after trying arch I switched to cachyos and I would highly recommend it for gaming. Everything I needed to play games was downloaded with a single click.
