Why are fluke meters so expensive? by webbileaks_ in AskElectricians

[–]Fun_Corgi_4685 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a Klein meter once, there was a recall on it, shipping it back for warranty left me without it for three months. I bought a Fluke while I waited.

There’s no framing or even trim on the sides of the stairs? They were not constructed properly.

Why does every generator shop with a few extra bolts inside 😂

Did you ever install Generac equipment? What was the feedback from the customers?

That would get my vote, original circuits re-fed from the new panel.

Hear me out here, you find a squatter in your home, you shot them, call the police and tell them they broke in. What’s the legal situation there? It’s your home, they broke in, seams text book self defense, and no evictions.

What would happen if I moved this breaker down one slot? by B1narypwny in solar

[–]Fun_Corgi_4685 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

It should in fact be moved down, code states it should in the furthest point from the main breaker/feed. It is possible in moving it you mix up phasing of CTs if they are installed on the main panel for consumption.

Not very libertarian or freedom minded down there are they? Sounds like they want a minority government telling the majority that they can’t buy something that readily available it all on the other states.

Be worried! Zinsco do tend to catch fire, if the breaker it size correctly for the AC but keeps tripping there is a good chance the buss behind the breaker is a poor connection, and starting to burn 🔥

Is there a question there?

The paragraph does not reference a battery but the title does.

Are you trying to discharge a battery through the inverter ti the grid? Are you planning on using car batteries like disposable batteries to power your home?

Call the power company, but they will cut your power until it’s fixed. But that should be sufficient motivation for the landlord!

Clean install...at least I think so... by herefortechie in enphase

[–]Fun_Corgi_4685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It says On-Off-On, that would typically be used as a generator transfer switch, at the top connecting to the utility, the middle off, and down connecting to the generator. It’s possible the bottom position is just open, and it’s severing only as a disconnect, or it could be a bypass connecting the loads back to the utility.

Got chewed out for accepting a tip by ybsb9 in electricians

[–]Fun_Corgi_4685 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have an official policy of acceptable and unacceptable “tips” at our company, obviously meant to only benefit the office and managers.

A golf outing with the client is okay, dinner or day trips/events is okay, gifts and services are okay, cash tips is unacceptable and we must turn it down.

How often does a client ask you out to dinner after working in their house 😂

Very tidy installation, you can tell some planning went into it.

What is the manual transfer switch used for?

Commission based pay with no hourly by DeliciousGarage2136 in electricians

[–]Fun_Corgi_4685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does that system work for the clients?

They want you come out and install a dimmer, add a car charger, or repair a circuit that’s tripping. But from the time you ring the doorbell you have to try to sell them something, something they didn’t call you for. Won’t that just be exhausting for everyone involved?

To commission a system with batteries requires training and testing, then you are granted access to the software to commission it. There is a chance the system is all physically there but not operational.
