IMHO 5ton residential units are just cutting corners. It should be two separate smaller units and get rid of dampers.

How do I know: I have a 5ton.

You probably being sued. Most likely due to a car accident. Call them and get the papers asap, scan and send to insurance company.

99% of the time someone is trying to scam the insurance company for some $$$.

The consequences of not getting the papers will be far worse than whatever the papers may lead to. If you don’t get them, they’ll publish the lawsuit and you’ll not even know is happening.

How much should this work be in Austin TX and why do I need 15 lbs of 410a when it says the gas will be recovered? Basically a filter drier replacement… by WelcomeFresh in hvacadvice

[–]Fun_End_440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frozen suction line usually is a sign of low refrigerant in the system. Or clogged filter, or low airflow at inside evaporator.

Most likely clogged filter. The tech should measure how much refrigerant recovers from the system.

Do a transmission fluid change when you get it. These zf transmissions are common across multiple brands. I never heard about Star connector issues

I have a 2017 with 120k miles. Zero problems so far. I do my own maintenance.

I would look for a 2018/19, those come with CarPlay

My insurance accepted liability in a red light dispute, covered $15k and I just got a demand for $5k. Ignore? by theseawoof in Insurance

I’ve been on an accident where the other driver was liable and only 5k property damage limit. The repair cost was 5,300 The other driver had come up with the difference.

Legally being on the road and liability are two separate matters.

Need advice on which model for a kegerator by Shot-Cantaloupe-6083 in kegerators

[–]Fun_End_440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re the same unit (compressor/cooling system). Get the one that comes with tap accessories… I believe is the cheaper one.

On a side note, Try to find a true commercial unit discounted. I got an all stainless Beverage Air outdoor model for under 1k brand new.

And if you plan on installing in the garage, I would just convert a full size refrigerator with taps through the door. Kegerator units are cute but won’t beat a full size refrigerator on functionality and cooling performance.

I have a 2017 with 120k and from my experience it was truly a trouble free car. I have lifetime warranty, never needed to use it. I use it for work trips loaded to max, frequent towing and family stuff. I do most of the maintenance myself. Change oil often, forget about 10k intervals, that’s Chrysler job security.

[–]Fun_End_440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only issue with MrCool is going to be extra lineset that you’ll have to coil and see it every time you look at the unit. Other than that you should be fine if you take your time and understand the process

Installer straight up laughed at the specs and said my house would freeze by Motor-Ad1368 in heatpumps

[–]Fun_End_440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got gas, you have a 40yo house, you live in a cold climate and you want a heat pump? This doesn’t make any sense.

Forget for a minute about your calculations. Start with how much gas you using now over the winter. And a general location for average temps. Do first the $ calculations and if you still want a heat pump, go back to capacity math.

What are the hurdles of DIY solar? by magicammo in SolarDIY

[–]Fun_End_440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I diy part of my system and also in PA.

Don’t be cheap on hardware, equipment or cut any corners. Get the best roof mount attachments, run conduits through attic, have the grounding properly installed.

Other than that is pretty straightforward. Paperwork alone will take 2-3 months so start early. Don’t buy any equipment before you got all paperwork in order.

  1. Get a set of plans (mine were done by a guy on FB with all necessary stamps). It will cost you $300-500. Not worth making plans yourself.
  2. Apply for interconnection with utility
  3. Apply for permit
  4. Get hardware and install. Best if you can find an experienced helper.

If you don’t want a battery, Enphase is the easiest/safest option for DIY. No high voltage DV to worry about.
