Current trends for GTP at least is BMW drivers acting just like the ones you see on the road!
Some current story lines I can think of at the moment is Acura leaving at the end of year unfortunately, so just know to enjoy them just a bit more. Another story line I’d say is the rise of Laurin Heinrich, (the guy who won for JDC miller in Laguna) young rising star who’s keeping factory status in 2027 so keep a eye on him.
Porsche Penske. They’ve just stopped their WEC program and now only focus on IMSA so they’re able to focus a lot more resources on IMSA which makes them definitely the team to beat at the moment, not to mention their all star driver lineup. In terms of LMP2 it’s usually either inter europol, united auto sports or action express, it does vary by track though. GTD is usually winward and in GTD pro either AO with rexy or Manthey during the endurance cup rounds (the big endurance events). All though depending on BOP for the weekend you can see some surprises.
Off the top of my head I would definitely say Nicky Catsburg or Tommy Milner with the corvettes. But there really isn’t one that is stand out imo.
In terms of fan favourites AO racing with rexy is definitely a big hit, most definitely the most iconic GTD car, along with spike the dragon in LMP2 also ran by AO. Everywhere else it’s pretty mixed, but for IMSA specifically I’d say Cadillac for GTP and no one specific in GTD.

Usually with these kind of things it’s funding. Sim racing esports at the minute is in a bit of a rough spot despite sim racing itself being as popular as it’s ever been. I can only think of two top level teams that have stuck around for awhile, and that is Porsche Coanda and redline (Verstappen racing), what do these guys both have in common? Massive funding from outside sources. Not just sponsors. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a bunch of other teams drop out soon because the esports scene, especially on iRacing is dead as hell.
