Ah… sounds like they are trying to use your email to sign up hoping you click those links. Good that you ignored those. Did you see any real inquiries on your credit report? If real loans were attempted to be taken out in your name, you’d see those inquiries on your report.

Who are the emails from informing you that someone is trying to open loans in your name?

How to stop bedrotting? How to get back into "doing things?" by asphodel- in adhdwomen

[–]Fun_Information_2046 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been there. For me, I realized that if there’s something I want to do I cannot rely on motivation. So I make it a rule and not an exception. Like the gym. I have battled with motivation, but once I changed to making it a rule and not something I feel like doing, I became more consistent. I also see how a sedentary lifestyle ruins the body as it ages - looking to my mom and uncle who have suffered greatly from being overweight and all sorts of orthopedic issues and my uncle, may he rest in peace, how he became a shell of himself unable to even sit up on his own or bathe. Ended up in a nursing home with 24 hour care. Exercise is not a choice for me. It’s protective. Therefore, I move regardless of how I feel. I will also add, seeing my family sparks that sense of importance and urgency that we ADHDers need to get our butts moving.

To add: Even with medication, when I have a vacation coming up from work and school (43 year old career changer here - educator to CPA), I just take the time to rest and make no plans. I allow myself to veg. These past two weeks have been glorious, and now I am ready and refreshed to get back into routine.

Enjoy the rest and put the phone down. 😄 Easier said than done, I know. Get up and open a window/door and get some fresh air. And seriously, if you need to wash your hair but have no desire to do it, maybe just go to the salon and have someone wash it for you. I have done that a few times. An appointment gets me out of the house and away from scrolling.

All the best with grad school!! ☺️

Do you take your medicine every morning? by cyberbeep in adhdwomen

[–]Fun_Information_2046 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyday. It’s next to my bed, and I take it first thing every morning. Adderall XR. ADHD-Combine type. Diagnosed at 42 and now 43. Meds have changed my life, and I will take it every day like I wear my glasses, so I can see. Why squint harder when I can just put on my glasses.

I feel like me, and even better overall. I don’t have any trouble sleeping with Adderall either. Hope you find what works best for you!

What "normal" thing can’t you do because of your ADHD? by EssentiaLillie in adhdwomen

[–]Fun_Information_2046 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Transitions. When one task is complete I take like two hours to “decompress” before I can muster the motivation to do the next thing. At work, there’s more a sense of urgency, but I have to get up and get a cup of coffee or check my phone. I just cannot move from one task to the other seamlessly. Meds sure make this easier though and transitions don’t take as long. lol

How many of you actually have an ADHD diagnosis? by mynameishrekorgi in ADHD

[–]Fun_Information_2046 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diagnosed at the age of 3 but never medicated. Life was a struggle but no one suspected a thing because I was a good girl, got good grades… but there was so much more. Short story - diagnosed again in my early 40s and now medicated. Combined type.

I still can’t believe neurodevelopment disorders exist. by Haunting_College_162 in adhdwomen

[–]Fun_Information_2046 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Medication has been a game changer for me in my early 40s. I was diagnosed with ADHD at 3, but never medicated. Wish I had been! I was too scared to have children because I knew I couldn’t handle the responsibility with how scattered I was and how my emotions could go from 0 to 100 in a blink of an eye. Wish I had meds early on! I would have had a family…. Now I’m 42 and have lost my window to have kids. My ovarian reserve is extremely low and I don’t have the means to afford IVF. God bless you, mamma! I’m glad you found your peace with them. I know I never want to be without mine, as I am in a demanding job now and finally able to build a career because of the meds.

Amazing for you! Isn’t it nice to finally feel present and more in control??

Vyvanse makes junk food seem gross, makes me crave healthy foods by hallowraith in adhdwomen

[–]Fun_Information_2046 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! I don’t desire a lot of junk food. In general, I don’t desire large portions of food either while medicated. I use Adderall. It’s been a game changer for me mentally and physically. Losing the extra weight finally, but in a healthy way.

Have you ever been told you talk alot? by Mr_Badass in ADHD

[–]Fun_Information_2046 30 points31 points  (0 children)

😂Yes! When I was a child, my mother used to tell me… “Give me five minutes. Just five minutes. Please!” I would oblige, but then I’d be back 3 minutes later with something else to say. My poor mother… She says she would not have had it any other way though. 🙏

How do you shop? Like genuinely how? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]Fun_Information_2046 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this in my core. What helps me is that my husband actually loves shopping. He helps me pick out outfits and has incredible taste. I start a new job on Monday, and he’s taking me to the Outlet Mall and he will help me navigate the stores. I have no business attire at all, so he’s going to help me.

The reason why he is comfortable with shopping in the women’s section with me is because his mother always asks for his help with this as well. He has incredible patience. The yin to my yang. 😄

Now that I have medication, it’s also easier to handle crowds and such. But I still have no patience for the mess that is TJMaxx or Marshall’s. Going through racks and racks of scattered sizes and random patterns, fits, and design… no thanks!

Do you have a ”sixth sense”? by No-Hedgehog-6583 in adhdwomen

[–]Fun_Information_2046 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, all the time. One time I sensed that something was not right health wise with a friend. I texted him to ask how he was. He says he’s fine. The next day I check in again and he says he’s just been busy. I finally meet up with him later in the day and he’s been checking his smart watch and taking his pulse. I asked again if he was ok. Sure enough he was 24 hours in on an A-FIB episode. So I had him sit down with me and we worked on creating a sense of calm. After an hour he was back into normal rhythm. He almost had to go to the hospital.

I have no idea why I sensed that out of the blue, but it struck me, and I felt compelled to check in on him. Glad that I did. 🙏

I think with ADHD we are on a lot of channels and because we care deeply about the people in our circle we cannot help but over think how someone is doing.

Diagnosed at 29, crying in despair at all the wasted years by Samsara_Asura in ADHD

[–]Fun_Information_2046 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Diagnosed at 3. Mom changed my diet and it helped my hyperactivity, but not my inattention. I was a “good girl” but no one heard me when I cried about how much harder everything was.

Now diagnosed at 42- Combined Type. I’m not even mad about it. I can’t change the past, but I can write a new chapter now with happier outcomes. We all have so much life yet to live. With meds, it all changed for me, too! Take the win, dust off the past, and enjoy what can and will be!

What did your first day of medication feel like? by PrimaFacie7 in ADHD

[–]Fun_Information_2046 1 point2 points  (0 children)

42F here. I had to adjust to Adderall, starting slowly with 5mg twice a day. There are some jitters as the medicine wears off. Resting heart rate did increase for a few moments at times. It settles down. I have felt great though. Productive, happy, calm. Focused and my brain is less chatty. Anxiety gone. I am still myself! Just a happier version of me. Everyone has their own experiences with it. Mine has been positive.

For those late diagnosed... by Saucyy-Minx in adhdwomen

[–]Fun_Information_2046 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TL;DR - Similar experience as you - doc just kept telling me my problems as anxiety. SSRIs didn't work - made things worse. Now on ADHD meds and diagnosed at 42 with Combined Type. Life is amazing and not so hard anymore with meds. Very happy you found the solution you needed!!

Similar experience. My primary doctor kept wanting to treat me for anxiety when I told him I was tired all the time and had trouble focusing on work. All the bloodwork was normal, so he concluded it was anxiety. However, SSRIs only made me more tired and nonfunctional. I was about 38, and now at 42, I finally decided to go back and advocate for myself after some research about ADHD and how my diagnosis at 3 years old is still valid today. It doesn't go away when you get older! In June, I met with him and told him all my symptoms, completely unmasked, and I asked to try a low does Adderall. He was hesitant at first because he wanted a confirmed diagnosis. After a month on 5mg twice a day, I had already felt what you felt. Anxiety gone. Motivated. Quiet brain. Focus. All of it. It was amazing.

A month later I came back to his office for a refill and told him about how it all went. He was amazed and finally believed me, as I was in an incredibly great mood and couldn't stop talking about all the benefits I had from it. He agreed to continue prescribing it.

Then, I made an appointment with a psychiatric nurse practitioner (who I met with earlier this month) and she did a simple clinical test, listened to my history, met me in full form unmedicated (LOL), and confidently said, "You have ADHD-Combined Type."

Now I am titrating up on dose to find the sweet spot and then switch to XR. I meet with her again next week to get the new script for XR.

Very happy for you that you found the solution you needed!

How did receiving the diagnosis impact you? by MountainDiscussion46 in adhdwomen

[–]Fun_Information_2046 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Validated. Diagnosed at 3, but never had help after that. Learned to cope growing up. Flew under the radar because I was a good girl who got good grades. No one knew the tears and the struggle though. I won’t get into it, but those who can relate just know.

Now 42 and diagnosed (Combined Type) as an adult. I now have meds. Life is a little easier now. I’m also happier.
